    I can clarify the IC Rating Topic Just want to talk about a few items I've read about in the reviews prior to my purchase.1. IC Rating - Many are complaining that the fixture is not IC Rated as the title claims. Instruction says the fixture is IC rated only if LED bulb is used; if halogen bulb is used, it is non IC rated. This one is a bit on the gray side and it is misleading. What the manufacturer is "trying" to say is that you will not need 3" clearance if LED bulb is used - thus you can install it AS IF this is an IC rated fixture. But technically, you are not buying an IC Rated fixture. So the title is misleading and this can be dangerous. Years down the road after you install this, no one is going remember this caveat and may install a halogen bulb instead of an LED. My advice on this is to install with proper clearance regardless of bulb type.2. Cutout template - the instruction says to use the supplied template to mark the hole for the cutout, but none was provided as people are mentioning in the reviews. What people don't realized is that the cardboard used as part of the packaging IS the actual template. So be careful not to rip the packaging inside because you will need it to mark the circle cutout.3. LED Bulbs - I just install these yesterday and can't speak to the longevity of the bulbs just yet, but they all worked out of the box. Color temperature is as expected for a 3000k bulb. Lumens seem as advertised4. Fixture - the sheet metal used for the fixture is very thin. It's really not a problem until you have wired it up and are trying to push the wired fixture into the 3" hole. Since the wiring is very stiff (I have 12 ga wires), the fixture isn't rigid enough to push the wires around above the ceiling. Remember, once you push the j-box thru the hole, you have to slide it to the side so the "can" can slide over and go thru the hole. In my case, the j-box on the fixture ended up bending upward. If the piece of metal joining the "can" and the J-Box is a bit stiffer, it would eliminate this issue.I didn't regret buying this and will keep it. But I would definitely look to see if there are any other alternative with similar price before buying for my next project. 3Great, but different bulbs than shown in picture or in my previous order. My first order was for the (4) pack which came with the LED bulb style shown in the picture that is an array of 4 small bulbs. The LED that came with my next (10) pack order have only 1 central bulb and no small vent around the edge. The new ones also have a slightly wider beam angle and are rated for 360 rather than 350 lumens. I like the newer bulb style better but wished they all matched each other as well as the description photos. 4They were super easy to install even without the cutting template that ... Bought a set of 10. All the same color and brightness. All of them worked straight out of the box. They were super easy to install even without the cutting template that was missing. I feel like they could have included the cable clamps that holds the cable to the box but no big deal. The junction box is a bit flimsy but once you install it,, who cares? They claim to be ic rated with the LED bulb but there are 2 holes on top of the light that allow insulation to fall inside the housing, especially cellulose. I built boxes out of rigid insulation I had laying around so I could air seal around the lights and just for piece of mind. The label in the lights says they are not ic rated so who really knows. Would definitely recommend. 4I'm pretty impressed. The design is simple I'm pretty impressed. The design is simple, elegant, and flexible. The mounting clips are great compared to others I've encountered. I had to detach the electrical box from the housing, because I was in a really tight spot and needed clearance for the mounting clips to drop, but it worked great. One word of caution though. At just 5.5 watts per bulb, this is a 22 watt system. You need to make sure your LED dimmer can handle such a small load. The Leviton 6674 LED dimmer I got could not. The lights fiickered like crazy. It claimed only a maximum load of 150 watts for LED. It seems that there was an unstated minimum and no load adjustment. 5(They look great shining down exposed brick - really make the wall ... I've put in several of these throughout my house in stairwells, closets, and along walls. (They look great shining down exposed brick - really make the wall stand out.) I also recommend installing them in pairs in the corners of a room - really good look, though I haven't done it myself. Color of included bulbs is nice - neutral white, not too amber, not too blue. If you're skeptical of recessed lighting, these are much more nondescript - they pretty much fade away into a white ceiling when they're off. Installation is in line with other renovation recessed lights, too: cut a hole, pull your wire through, wire in the fixture, stick it back in the hole. 5Great lights! Great lights!! I wanted to install some new lights in my basement stairwell. However, I would not have the depth required for the more traditional can lights and these worked perfectly. I cannot say enough positive things about these units.PRO- easy to install- compact size worked great in compact location- swival heads allowed me to angle the lights down on the stairs- color temperature of the lights were just want I wanted for the stairs (not too cool not to warm)- well made, felt sturdy and of solid constructionCON- none 5Easy Installation & Good Value Easy installation. The enclosed template for cutting the 5 1/2" hole was missing but easily made from a piece of cardboard. The swivel range is limited but adequate. Excellent value for the $$. The main Amazon listing for these says they use PAR30 bulbs - which is correct. The additional details link says: "Requires ten 60W equivalent Mr16 Gu10 light bulbs", which is incorrect. 5Very bright and white light! These are very nice lights! The fixtures are low voltage rated so nice on circuits where you have a lot of lights already on them! They are very bright and have installed four so far (several more to go) Photo is of the in-construction stage of the fireplace. 5Easy to install I was looking for something small and simple to install to give a little pop to the new fireplace and mantel remodel when I came across these. Lights were super easy to install after the electrical was ran in the ceiling the installation of the lighting kit was less then 20 minutes for both lights. Kit comes with the led bulb that can swivel to add light light to your desired spot, the lighting kit was installed with the VegaHome smart WIFI led dimmable light switch that's works great with Alexa and Google. 5Slam dunk winner if seller could better define location of use - here's what I discovered... Very nice light, included bulbs are brighter than expected - similar to a 40 watt incandescent. No fifth star, as they've done a poor job indicating where you can actually use these. As for my purchase, 05-01-17, instructions clearly indicate insulation must be 3" away from can at all times IF you are using the max rated 50 watt GU-10 bulb. You'd be going backward to old technology using one of those bulbs vs. the included LED's,or any other LED GU-10 bulb. Point is, LED's do not generate the dangerous heat of the old halogens that used to be standard in this style fixture, which was the concern with insulation contact. It could be argued that " IC rated " is simply based on the change from halogen to the included LED bulbs.As for exterior use, there is a decal inside the cans that says "Suitable for damp location.". My only concern is with bugs creeping into the warm fixture at night. (not that they're dangerous, I just do everything I can to keep bugs out of the house!). The swivel has a gap of about 3/16, which I may be sealing with bronze silicone once set at desired angle in order to keep bugs out. This would also greatly enhance moisture resistance. I'll not use anything but LED's, so again, the heat is not an issue against a silicone seal. Changing bulb will not be an issue either after that, as the bronze trim ring is pulled off to access bulb, making it a breeze to change. A thin weather strip applied under trim ring should complete the seal. Only reason I could see to cause concern for moisture is if you installed close to any vents in a soffit.Very happy with purchase, but should not have had to hold my breath hoping these would work until they arrived... 4
