    Saved our bacon multiple timesThese things have saved our bacon on more than one occasion. We placed them near our washer/laundry sink and water heater. The washer hose mesh filter got clogged with lint one time and the water was spraying everywhere during a wash. The alarm alerted us so we could take care of it before there was damage. On another date the water heater started leaking. We were able to shut it off before the leak got serious. These things are worth their weight in gold. Ok maybe their weight in copper. 5it should be fine. The sensor reacts quickly when exposed to waterThis is not a very solidly constructed case, but for the intended use, it should be fine. The sensor reacts quickly when exposed to water. The alarm is loud, but I doubt it's the 110 dB that it's rated. The major thing that isn't mentioned in the description is the cord length. It's only 12 inches. A little extra cord length would be better for my location. 4Seems to do what it says. I tested it ...Seems to do what it says. I tested it in a cup of water and the alarm is very loud (not sure why some people say it's not loud enough - might be time for a hearing checkup!). My only concern is how long the battery will last, but I think the paperwork said there is a low-battery alarm. Time will tell. 4Very quiet and short battery lifeI bought this to detect water in my basement. It runs on four watch batteries which die very quickly. If you aren't in the same room as the detector you won't hear it. The wire leading from the sensor to the speaker could stand to be much longer. Save your money and buy a better one 1Has saved me 3 times so far!This product performs as intended. Will recommend to anyone storing water in containers with a propensity to leak (aquariums, sumps, water heaters, bathtubs, etc.)Would give it 10 STARS! if I could. 5Very loud, can switch off to quiet it, excellent value!I love this little water detector! It has a very loud alarm that can be easily heard on the next floor. You can simply flip the on/off switch to stop the noise, dry the contacts, and then turn it back on. I have other sensors without a switch that just keep blaring while I frantically try to dry it off to shut it up so this is much better. It is simple to check the battery - just push the test button and the LED glows bright red (no noise).The 4 LR44 button-type batteries last a long time (a year or more for us) and aren't too hard to replace. The cord is about 10" long, so the main unit can be mounted to a flat surface with the peel-off sticky pad on the back, and the sensor put where needed. Our sensor has been submerged many times without damage, but the main part must stay dry.The only possible downside is the sensor contacts don't lie flat so need to be carefully positioned to detect just a little surface water (such as a slow under-sink leak). Also the on/off labels are very, very small and hard to see, so sometimes I leave it off accidentally.Overall this is a very nice water alarm and an excellent value! 5wire is short, but since it has an adhesive ...wire is short, but since it has an adhesive on back, i was able to place 1 on basement floor next to the main water inline and one hanging inside sump pump... test it and it works as expected 4GE Water alarm good and Meh.Unit measures about the size of a thin hockey puck - 1/4 inch thick. It takes 4 watch batteries (included). Attaches with double sided foam tape on the unit and on the external sensor. Good sensitivity on the sensor as it immediately triggers when you touch the 2 contacts to a wet paper towel. Points to note: the wire between the sensor and the main unit is about a foot (12 inches) long. Also the Test button is for the batteries. It does not trigger the alarm. Knowing its limitations, this should work OK for a 7 dollar sensor. 3LIke the first one, and for this price I bought 2 more.I bought the first one, and I loved it, so I bought 2 more. One for a drain that has backed up, one for under the hot water heater that is over 20 years old, and 1 for under the sink. Seems like it is quality made, screw to hold the LR44 batteries in place could get lost easy during instillation of the included batteries. 5Works and easy to setup. Could save you from significant water damageI ve had two of these so far. I just wanted a simple water alarm for my second floor laundry room. This unit saved me on several occasions when the washing machine drain backed up and started to spill into the laundry room. The alarm was loud enough for us to hear it and quickly go and turn off the machine before getting any water damage.The key question is can you hear it. If you use this for a water heater in your attic or in some other remote location for example, you may want to consider something more sophisticated that alerts you via your smart phone. But if you re looking for something simple and straightforward, this is a great solution that probably saved me 100s of dollars in potential water damage repairs. Put one under your sink or any place where there might be a water leak that you may not see. Very cheap insurance to have. 5
