    Great lightEasy install for the cans and lights, but the box had no instructions at all, but the things are pretty self explanatory and once you get the hang of it they go up fast -- I installed 6 in my downstairs kitchen in about 6 hours -- retrofit finished ceiling with no crawl space, so 5 hours to figure out how to run the wire without tearing my ceiling up, and about an hour for the all cans themselves (the last 3 took me 30 minutes total )-- the wiring is by far the most time consuming if you don't have an attic and are running through a ceiling...otherwise, these things pop in like a snap. Completely worth the effort in our kitchen. youtube has lots of examples of installing these things...5Great light fixturesGreat lights, easy installation. Keep in mind that if you use a hole saw it will need to be 4 and 1/8th inches for these lights. I made the mistake of using the sticker and a 4in hole saw and than I had to rasp the holes the rest of the way. My mistake but there wasn't any information on this in the description or in the instructions. Thought I'd warn you.5Its supposed to be "IC" rated.Well heck, if all it takes is to make a can light "ic rated", is to make it air tight....I can put metallic duct tape inside all my non-ic can lights (sarcasm). There is a reason you NEVER see an IC rated light housing made from steel. It simply does not dissipate the heat well enough.Regardless, these are for LED's, which do not emit THAT much heat so go for it. Though next time I will get aluminum housings......4Good enoughI had a hard time finding 4" IC rated recessed cans. These were the only ones I came across.My order was through "Four Bros" and, as another reviewer pointed out, my luck of the draw was the less sturdy rolled sheet metal version (see pics). I considered returning them for the white ones but I didn't want to go through the hassle.Installation was simple and straightforward for a DYIer like myself. I was gentle during the installation and I found that the rolled sheet metal was sturdy enough and the cans went into the hole cutout without denting. My biggest complaint is that the clips that open up from the can to secure itself to the drywall do not lock into place. You have to push them out with one hand while inserting the bulb into the can. Once the bulb is inside, the bulb itself keeps the clips in position but the cans still wiggle a little.I paired the cans with Silvania "Ultra LED" RT-4 bulbs purchased at Lowe's. They work great.The biggest drawback for this product is that it comes in a pack of six (6). I only needed five (5) for my installation so I now have one can left over.4Great cansGood simple cans, sturdy enough. Just keep in mind that you will need bulbs with a special orange plugs, can doesn't come with a converter for normal socket. I guess that's how they can label them IC because you will not be able to install a regular bulb in them. I used them in remodeling project in a bathroom where they are in contact with insulation. 4" IC rated were not available at Home Depot, but these worked out great.5These are great cans. I was replacing existing cans that wouldn't ...These are great cans. I was replacing existing cans that wouldn't work with the LED lights I was buying. These fit the existing 4" hole (not really a feature, but they're not some odd size) and came with everything needed, except there was no Romex wire clamp to clamp the wire. I reused the clamps from the previous cans.It has a push-in wire connector on each of the 3 wires, which makes it easy to connect, and to add a 2nd wire if it's run in parallel with other cans, as is often the case. The clamping mechanism works well; just remember to use a flat screwdriver to press up on the tab on the clamps so it snugly mounts to the ceiling. At first, I just used my fingers to lock these, and it wasn't as secure.They also come with a foam strip that's sticky on one side. I'm not sure what that's for, and the instructions don't provide any clue. Based on the length, I believe that's to adhere to the inside rim of the can, although it didn't seem necessary. It may help secure the LED lights I was inserting, but they seem pretty snug already. If anyone knows when I should use this strip, I'd like to hear it.5Well built, and very fairly pricedThis is a very good product. After being bitten by the halo cans (I will never buy a halo product again), I ordered these off of amazon. Price was half the price of halo cans. One thing I don't understand is why don't sellers post pictures when they want to sell and make money? Is it that hard to post few pictures of the product? Anyways, here is the description about this product.This is 4" LED housing. You can fit the 4" LED lights (the ones with trims built-in). The can itself is made of steel and appears to be a quality product. The housing does not come with lamp holder, instead it has one of those LED connectors that you can plug the modern LED products. The holes in the junction box will fit 1/2" KO wire strains. The LED connector wire itself is fairly long and comes all the way outside the can. The push pins fit much better than the halo cans.If you are looking to add recessed lighting to your house, this is a great product to buy. And don't buy the halo and be disappointed.Edit: In the second order, I received aluminum cans, and they are not as good as the steel ones. Push pins don't fit, and if you push them it damages the pin holes. I would be buying from elsewhere for my next set. Get it from four bros, they have the steel can.4Best can for the money.These work great. They are heavy gauge steel and do no bend even if forced when installing. I would have given them 5 stars except for one thing. I have installed dozens of other 4" lights in other houses of other brands like Halo and I have always used the same 4: hole saw and a drill. These cans are slightly larger than a 4" hole by about 1/4". Not a big deal if you are using the supplied template and cutting it with a keyhole saw. I just like using a hole saw, because there is very little room for error with the amount of lip you have on this type of can. Sure the trim should cover it, but you might still have air leaks if the hole isn't round.4Great Price - Well ConstructedEasy to work with and well constructed. I used a 4 1/4" hole saw that worked well for these lights. The box was received as is, i.e., not shipped in another box so I wasn't surprised to see some of the lights were a bit dented. I straightened them with some pliers so didn't want to waste time returning considering they are hidden. To secure in place, push the clips straight up with some force. I noticed for some of the lights a couple clips became unsecured; however, after installing the LED light kits, I believe it helps keep the clips in place. Generally, am happy with these remodel recessed lights at a great price. Not happy with the shipment, but it ended up 'ok' for me.Paired the lights with SYLVANIA 50-Watt Equivalent White Trim LED Recessed Retrofit Downlight purchased from Lowes. Very nice combination.4I've gotten two different models off of this listing, make sure you get the good one!Update: Be careful to make sure you get the right product - check my photos to see the difference. You want the white colored can which is made of one piece of metal, where the other can appears to be rolled sheet metal secured with rivets. The former is much stronger and doesn't flex with pressure whereas the non-painted model easily flexes and bends with pressure.5
