Great for getting a grip on small cameras Lets be clear: this thing is more or less useless as a level. I don't find any more accurate than eyeballing it, so really it only tells you know if the camera is way off kilter, which you knew already. That said, I purchased it to cover the hotshoe on an EOS M which is a small camera, and I found that the arced shape of this cover made it easier to get a good grip on the camera and holding it steady when taking pictures in portrait orientation, something I find invaluable.The moral of the story is that it's excellent for getting a grip on small cameras, but not so much as a level, hence dinging it just one star 4Nice Little "Rubber" Hot Shoe Level To start off, this hot shoe bubble level is not just rubberized, it is encased in squishy rubber. Meaning all the black you see in the picture is squishy rubber, not hard plastic. The level itself is plastic. Looking at the picture I thought I was getting a piece of hard plastic. Does it make a difference? I suppose the rubber may keep moisture out better and that's a plus. So being that it is rubber you you have to push it a bit to get it on. It doesn't just snap on. This also could be good since it isn't likely to fall off. The bubble level inside the rubber casing does have some play if pressed on and could possibly be moved out of position causing it not to reflect accurately. This is easily avoided by giving it a gentle push downward to make sure it is seated squarely on the hot shoe base inside the rubber casing. The bubble also seems to be very sensitive and should give good results when leveling. My only minor gripe is the description for this item should say rubber shell rather than rubberized. Also, it does let the popup flash work on my 7D MkII.Overall for the price this item seems to be a great deal and I would definitely recommend it. 4Nice, Works Well, Easy On and Off, Secure Arrived when and as expected. Slides on and off and seems very secure. Got this for a brand new camera so haven't really used the level yet. Did notice that when I have this on, my flash will not pop up on my Canon EOS T3i. Maybe that is how all of them are. Was hoping I could leave it on all the time but now I have to remember to take it off if I use the flash. 5Just a little short, but works as described. Like a G-string, it serves its purpose and covers the important parts, but some folks will be upset by what remains exposed.Sliding this onto the hot shoe from the rear, it does not extend to the full length (front-to-back) of the hot shoe. About 1/8" of the hot shoe rails (and area between the rails) is left exposed at the forward end. This is a cosmetic flaw only, otherwise there would be fewer than four stars in my rating. The important things are OK: 1) the hot shoe contacts are covered, and 2) the level seems to be...well...level. 4I'm happy with it. I've had the opportunity to use it on a couple of outings now and have finally become accustomed to it being on the camera now. I am a novice and tended to overlook it since at first, but now that I've gotten used to it I find it very helpful when combined with the level on my tripod. I'm older and my eyesight isn't the greatest, but I can see this clear enough and I haven't had the issues others seemed to have had. It slides in easy enough, is secure, and comes off like the one that comes with the camera. It's not that difficult to use at night either, so I'm happy with it and don't regret this purchase (it's not that expensive anyway). 4Unexpectedly Useful Level I bought both the hot shoe standard cap and the version with the level. I wasn't really sure how much I'd use or like the levl, but I am glad that I took the the chance. I have a compact tripod and have found the level to be very useful so far. it's not that expensive at any rate, so just give it a try and see. The maufacturer has good customer service and excellent follow up, too. Buy with confidence. 5perfect fit for my omd em-5 fast shipping, perfect item. seems to be identical to the original olympus part for less $. it perfectly replaces the hot shoe cover that was lost.hint: these covers seem to get lost regularly by em-5 users. i seldom use flash, so added a bit of gaffers tape over the contacts and slipped the foto tech cover over the tape into place. it is now much more secure than the original olympus application, but i can still remove it without an issue to use the hotshoe. 5GREAT LOOK & REALLY WORKS I ordered this for my Canon T3i and it fits perfectly plus it looks great! I could have ordered any other, but I was intrigued by the level in it. I took a few test shots with the level in place and it really does work! Plus it protects the hotshoe when I don't have a speedlight attached. It fits on tightly and isn't flimsy. Seems very well made and it is well worth the few bucks I spent on it. I am very happy with this purchase! 5Great fit and easily visible I ve been looking for a level as well as something to protect my camera s exposed flash contacts. We ll here s a solution for both. The fit is a bit snug, but I feel that is more of a pro than a con. 5It works, but shame on Fujifilm This is probably the most annoying thing I've ever had to purchase, but that's no fault of the item itself. The Fujifilm X100T 16 MP Digital Camera (Black) inexplicably doesn't include a hotshoe cover, which is borderline insulting for a camera that costs $1300. Since I often take photos in rain and snow I got a little nervous about the hot shoe contacts getting wet, so I bought this thing. It fits snugly, but it's a dull black that looks cheap (to be fair, it IS cheap) and doesn't match the camera's glossy finish. Oh well, life goes on! 4
