    very efficient way to give the appearance of a TV being on at minimal expense but longer timer function would be helpfulvery realistic effect (varied color and light intensity mimicking a TV) but as the instructions state, it needs to be placed so that it is NOT visible from any windows or it will highlight the fact you are not home! Also, the only power options are off, on all the time and on for 5 hours starting at dusk. However, it can be placed on a timer so it stays on for a longer period of time and the on and off time varied if a timer with this feature is used (also available on Amazon). Overall, very efficient way to give the appearance of a TV being on at minimal expense (product literature indicates that the LEDs used about 5 watts total) 4Great DeviceLove this! From outside it looks exactly like someone is watching TV. We purchased before we left on vacation and set it up. The timer works great and with the blinds & curtains pulled, looks perfect. We didn't exactly use it as the instructions say to. We just literally set it up on the coffee table and let it flash throughout the room (not directly pointing at a window or anything), and it worked beautifully. Nifty little device for a very reasonable price. Shipped fast too! 5Works as AdvertisedIt works fine. The only issue is that in the summer (ie Daylight Savings Time) the light sensor will not turn on until it gets dark-around 9PM here. That means it will stay on for 5 hours until 2AM!. It would be nice if there was a 2-3 hour option for summer. In the Winter as it gets dark around 6PM the 5 hours is fine.By the way in your "Rate Features" section the "Motion Detection" feature is incorrectly named. It should say "Light Sensor". 5Works well and gives you peace of mindWe had the police come to our house to do a safety/security inspection (our town has a designated person that does this on request for free). They found a few minor issues, and made several suggestions for us to implement including a fake tv. We were a bit skeptical, but thought it was worth a shot. We were surprised how well it worked, but we didn't end up using it in the room we had hoped as the window treatments were too dark for it to be effective. We moved it to another room with a white shade and it works great. 5Suprisingly realistic [similar quality content, ha] and no commercials!No commercials! 5Not good for meI hate to say it but this thing is useless for me. You have to aim it at the window, but it has to be where no one can see it. That's quite a trick. The sheers on my LR window are thin enough that if someone gets close, they can see the little colored lights blinking. But in rooms with blinds that are more opaque, the light can't be seen at all. Even if I crack the blinds a little to let the light show, anyone close enough to the window can see the unit. So I can't use it at all. 2Looks like someone watching TV from outside.Well, no one has broken in since I got it, but that may be coiincidence. It does look so much like someone watching action T.V. from outside. I have it hooked up to a rotary wall timer to come on in the evening and turn off mid morning like someone staying up late to watch TV. Which is funny because I don't watch TV! Seems it would use much less power than if I ran the DVD player on the actual TV. I think to make the scene more realistic, one would have to set up another timer with a lamp on it to occasionally turn on/off as if someone were getting up to look for something or get ready for bed. 5Does exactly what it says.This is one of those things (like safety gear), that I hope I never find out how well it really works!As far as what it does do, it's great. When the lights go out, it comes on, and unless you've been inside my home and know the layout, from the outside, you'd never know that it wasn't the TV playing inside.When I saw this, I was a bit skeptical. I figured it would just be LEDs flashing in different color combinations. When I plugged it in I was surprised! The LEDs will flash and change colors and even dim, giving the very real appearance of a TV playing.I highly suggest this to anyone who is away from their house often. 4PERFECT!!My folks got robbed 20+ years ago and have been paranoid ever since about it. My dad is SO difficult to buy for (for Xmas) so this was perfect. He opened it and looked at me like, wtf?!? But I explained what it was for and what it does. Now when they re out of state for the winter, this gives them a little more peace of mind. I periodically go check on their house while they re gone and it was working like it s supposed to. Pretty great little gadget for that difficult to buy for person! 5Works as AdvertisedProduct is as advertised and easy to use, at least for my purposes. Just plugged it in to test that it worked and it did. Then left it on all weekend. While I cannot prove that any burglars were put off, I can say that no one I knew noticed anything suggesting I was out of town. I checked the look from the street and it looked as it should. 4
