    It would probably be great... if it fit There is a lot to like about this hat. The colors are very bright and anyone with this on is going to easily stand out. The materials are of good quality. The brim is just about the perfect size. It's big enough to provide plenty of shade but no so big that it looks like a sombrero. The brim is also just about right in terms of stiffness. It doesn't droop down but at the same time it's pretty flexible and would be easy to roll up for storage.The one problem I have is that it even in the L/XL size, it doesn't fit on to my ginormous melon of a head. According to the product description it should fit a circumference of 24" (which is right in between 7 5/8 and 7 3/4 hat size... what I usually wear). However, it doesn't feel like it's anywhere close to fitting.Rather than return it I think I'll try to find it a home on someone with a non huge head. 4Great for work! I'll start by explaining that I purchased this for work outside in the hot desert sun, directing traffic. I work at a school as a crossing guard, and an hour and a half a day in the hot heat of summer is very grueling, especially without a hat! I have been searching for a bright hat to wear, as recommended by our guidelines, and figured that one that blends with the vest would probably be best.This hat is very bright, which is great. It helps ensure that drivers see you, regardless of conditions outside. I'm not certain about the reflective aspects in practical use, as I work only during the daytime, but I can see light reflect off of the passive reflective strip when I hold it under a light, so I assume that it works pretty well. The chin strap is great, as it can get very windy here on a moment's notice, so it is wonderful to not worry about the cap flying off my head all the time. I can't imagine that I'd want to be chasing my hat around during rush hour! The lightness of this hat is great too, much better than some of the other shade hats I have tried. This in combination with the mesh vents on the hat make it a lot more comfortable during the hot months here. The cap has a rim just wide enough to keep the afternoon sun off of your neck, face, and scalp, which makes it a plus, as sunburns are a terrible thing to get while working.My only complaint about this hat is that the rim is very flimsy, and any wind gust over 5 MPH will bend the rim up or back, causing a bit of a problem, but nothing worth knocking a star off for, as the hat still serves its purpose quite well. The hat has lasted me for a month now with no other problems, and I hope to get even more use out of it through next year. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, and recommended it to some of the other crossing guards as well. 5When walking the dog in a Summer Shower, surprisingly cool I bought this because I wanted to be more visible to the drivers in my village... what with all the texting, talking and speeders, I figured this bright orange hat with the reflective materials would help. And so far it's worked... no one's hit me yet (knock on wood).But there were two other unexpected and pleasant surprises... 1: how well ventilated it is, the air passes right over my head keeping me cooler because of the mesh screen that goes all the way around and 2: I can scrunch up the hat, shove it in a pocket, and shake it back out and it's back in shape.So in summary: Works for what I bought it for and is better than I expected. Its bright, reflective at night, cool and comfortable to wear, water resistant, has a nice chin strap for when it's breezy, and keeps it's shape even after I shove it in my pocket for a while. 5The best Hi-Vis Hat on the market! Outstanding Features and Fit. I am a sailor who likes to sail long distances (e.g. 1200nm+) offshore in the ocean. I bought this "ranger" or "boony" hat to protect my face and ears and neck from sunburn. I have an extra large head (24.5" circ), and sometimes even "Extra Large" hats will not fit me well (or are too tight). This hat comes in XXL and I bought that size. I am very glad that this seller/brand (Ergodyne) has made this XXL hat (as few hats are made that size). I hope Ergodyne will continue to produce hats this large, as I think that is a competitive advantage as other sellers do not. I compared this hat to many others that look similar, and this one came in the needed XXL size. Others don't. I am very happy to say it fits very nicely, without any tightness. In fact, I like it so much I am going to order another one to have in case I lose this one. If I had a regular crew working for me, I would buy each person one of these. The high visibility yellow/lime color is very bright and is also good for sailors. The hat has two different reflective materials that really do work very well. The wide reflective band or ribbon on the hat crown is very good retroreflective material. In addition the hat has a narrow reflective trim that goes around the outside of the brim. Together these are very good at reflecting lights such as headlights of cars or spotlights or flashlights. This does provide a good sense of added safety visibility at night. The fabric used is lightweight, and the hat has a vented crown. I have worn this hat for many days in the hot sun and never felt "hot" under the hat. The hat comes with a very nice and long "stampede strap" or "wind strap" or "cord keeper" with a sliding adjustment button that works well. When sailing, I snug this down and can face the wind without fear of the hat blowing off my head. The brim is wide enough to provide good protection fo my ears and nose and face when under high sun. It also provides some sun protection for my neck. The hat material is light weight, so this hat can be easily rolled up or folded up and stuck in a pocket when not needed. But, because it is light weight, it is hardly noticeable when worn. I highly recommend this hat as a very good value, with outstanding features and functionality for sun protection and high visibility. By the way, I have not received any compensation or discount for writing this review. I simply like this hat very much, and consider it an excellent product, with outstanding value if you need sun protection and a larger size had for wear outdoors. If you are a sailor, hiker, walker, yard worker, field worker, farmer, or anyone who works outside and wants better all around (wide brim) sun protection in a light weight hat that is comfortable and easy to wear, this is a good solution. 5As advertised... Been using it everyday for 3 months. Good hat. Keeps the sun off, but the brim, is flimsy like a "boonie" hat rather than a Tilly style hat. The inner portion of the top has some type of plasticized lightweight lining. That makes it hot and if you are prone to sweating, brother you'll sweat in your face all day even with the mesh band. That said, it is holding up well to tree work outside everyday, and regular washings. Thanks for reading.SPO 4HI visibility yellow that has great air flow Ordered these because of the price and my almost constant proximity to high traffic roads. The price was great and the fit is good. These are much cooler than any solid hat and offer hi visibility anywhere you go. The fit was good and they hold up well to a machine wash. The mesh around the tops helps a bunch and I have one orange and one yellow hat from the same company and love them both. Highly recommend these for comfort, coolness and value. 5Fits larger than expected Way to big had to give it to a woman with tons of hair. I went by their measurements and my head measured 21 7/8 so I got the small and it fits okay but is still loose. I am sure it will be looser when I get it wet. 4BEST HAT EVER!!!! For years my husband has worked in the sun wearing a baseball cap, no protection for ears side of face. This hat cool, lightweight and very protective. My husband wears it all the time! I bought one for myself and many of our friend have since bought he hat as well. We do volunteer work and this hat keeps us cool and the high vis helps keep us safe. Great buy - highly recommend. 5Very high visiblity I bought the yellow hat and the orange hat at the same time. These hats are very high visibilty, and they have reflective material that could help the wearer be seen by vehicles at night. I wear a US size 7 1/4, and the hats that I got are labeled as S/M. One hat is slightly too small, but wearable, and the other is slightly too large, but wearable. The chin cord helps in windy situations. I found that having the hi-vis colors reflected into my eyes from the underside of the brim was causing some eye strain, so I used a wide tip black permanent marker to color the front part of the underside of the brim. I have found that this helps a lot. 4Good Hat I was a little worried about sizes, and I was right hat is large. I ordered the S/M for a 22" head measurement and it fits a little loose. I'm glad it has the pull cord, because if it didn't it would blow off my head when on riding mower with a wind. It is breathable, but does not keep sweat from coming down my face. So, I use a SA Company face shield on my head to hold the sweat from my eyes. Works just fine. Thats the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Nice bright hat though. 4
