I do not like to work with my portable radio audible to others around me, and this earpiece is perfect. The little foam cover on the speaker is long gone, but I have found it isn't necessary anyway. These cost more than the "clear tube" but they have long outlasted the others. By the way, if you're one of those officers who shows up with his shoulder mike blaring to everyone present, do the rest of us a favor and buy this for your radio! 5Works great! You have to understand it doesn't go into your ear like the other mikes, it sits on the outside of my ear canal so it took a little getting used too.
