Customer Reviews

great keyboard for right handed profesionals, not just for left handed people Ive been working with autoCAD for work for over a decade and I finally took the plunge to a good ergonomic layout recently. I currently use a logitech wireless gaming mouse, and now I have a Left Handed Keyboard so my shoulders are now square all day.I input almost all of my values and commands with my left hand while trying to not take my right hand off the mouse. This keyboard is perfect for the office. the layout is reversed (the numpad is on the left and the arrow and home keys are in between the letters and numpad, see the pics) and this allows me to set my mouse right next to my keyboard without streching my right shoulder funny like i used to.The keys are Cherry MX Red switches, and they feel great except for the larger keys feel a little spongy. The switches are louder than say a stock dell or lenovo keyboard, but not too loud like some of the Cherry MX Blue switches. I replaced my lenovo keyboard at work with this one, and only one person a couple cubicles away said they "noticed" me typing more.2 great things:1 now that I have a mechanical switch keyboard, my typing is more "accurate". I am not saying I am typing faster, but on cheap keyboards, my left handed multi key command inputs were not being picked up propperly. I used to type the same command almost 3 times in a row because some of the keystrokes would get lost on crappy keyboards. Now, I know and can feel when I press a key and feel that slight click, I know it registered. I am not typing the same commands over and over hoping it will register.2 this left handed arrangement helps my posture. My shoulders feel better, my wrists feel better. everything feels better. I work on a computer sitting for 40+ hours a week, this helps a lot.the not so great which lost a star:its ugly (looks like my lenovo keyboard so not to distract anyone at work?)no back lighting (not a big deal at work, but if you work in low light situations, backlighting helps a lot and for this price, it should have backlighting)the num lock, caps lock, and scroll lock lights are barely visible. All in all a great keyboard. I was looking at a Tesoro Tec Tizona, but i found this keyboard, and it was more fitting for work, and it works better in my field because the arrow keys, delete and end buttons are on the left side too. 4Stickyspacebar There are two types of people in this world:LEFT HANDED PEOPLEand those who WISH they were left handed!I am a right hand mouse user, and a left handed keyboard is great! My big gripe with this keyboard is that the space bar fails to engage ~10% of the time. This really slows me down. I am a light typist; but even whacking the space bar doesn't always work. Also, I wish the only backspace key wasn't on the far right. 3Would Purchase Again Purchased this item prior to surgery on right hand; I'm right handed. Great keyboard with light touch. The keys are a bit noisy but would not stop me from ordering a second one for home and work. 5Great keyboard I wish the section of the keyboard with the arrows and "ins, home, page up/down, del, and end" was to the right side of the keyboard. When using the mouse left handed it is annoying to need to stretch your arm a little further than seems necessary in order to stay centered with the keyboard while typing. The keys also activate quickly than any keyboard I have ever owned. It is sometimes nice and other times not (example is while wearing liner gloves during winter).I am a right handed individual that switched to this set up for work since I have serious pain in my right wrist/hand due to overuse over the years (I'm only 31 by the way). I also use a gyroscopic exercise ball (DFX Iron Power Force Steel Gyro Metal Powerball) to keep the pain away. 4Wow - what a difference! I have used this for about one month now, At first I was a little annoyed that the delete key and a couple others are on the left along with the number pad, but after about one week getting used to it - it has been fine. There actually is a combined backspace/delete button on the right side that I didn't use for the first couple days but do now use. This has been a great keyboard for me. I have been having right shoulder pain for about a year and being able to keep the mouse closer has been a big (actually HUGE) help.It makes a little more noise than my previous one, but no biggie. 5Perfect for a friend who needs a left-handed keyboard I have a friend who favors their left side due to a disability. She used an old "clicky" left-handed keyboard for 16 years before it finally gave up the ghost. This unit was nearly an exact copy of her old one except it's back instead of beige and has USB. It's worked great and is well built. 5Nice quality keyboard for left handers This is the second DSI left-handed keyboard I have purchased. I chose it specifically because I use the 10 key function all day long in my accounting position so having that on the left side makes my job so much easier. The first one I purchased was a little noisy, the keys sort of made a "clacking" sound. I got used to it but while I was on vacation a co worker was switching out the left handed keyboard to a right one for her own use and she dropped my keyboard. It still worked but one of the foots underneath to slant the keyboard was broken off. I ordered the exact same keyboard became I liked it so well. The second one did not have the "clacking" noise issue, which was a plus. If you are left handed, I would recommend this keyboard. 5Feels like it was made just for lefty me I love that all the main keys are on the left side (i.e. delete, page up and down). I am accustomed to doing 10-key with my right hand so I struggled a little with the number pad but I appreciate being able to have the mouse closer in now. I have noticed the stress in my wrists is reduced and I no longer cross over myself to press buttons. My left hand is happy about that :) The only dislike for this item is that it is not wireless (the price is a bit much for the lack of wireless as well). Also, my officemates don't appreciate the loud clicking sound the keys make. I'll admit, it can get annoying at times (the faster you type the worse the sound is). 3Actually a great mechanical keyboard for right handers! This is a great ergonomic keyboard for people who use a mouse with the right hand. By moving the arrow cluster and numpad to the left side of the keyboard, it frees up room for the mouse on the right side. I can sit centered to the keyboard's home row and the mouse lines up perfectly for my right hand. I do a lot of work on the computer, so not having to reach for the mouse really helps my wrist and back. In my opinion, all RIGHT handed keyboards should be designed this way.The Cherry MX Red switches are fantastic. They're quiet for mechanical keys and require very little force to press while still springing back up instantly. Prior to this keyboard, I was using a Ducky mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches. The brown switches provide a tactile bump so you know when the key has been pushed far enough to register. Most people recommend browns for typing, but I'd have to disagree after trying out the reds. The reds just provide linear resistance without the tactile bump, but I feel like I can type much faster with the Reds. They require less force to register and spring back up faster and quieter. Though, it's also fairly easy to hit keys without intending to, since you really only need to push the keys down about a third of the way before it registers. This keyboard still has some flaws, though. The supposedly left-handed numpad is not meant for left-handed use at all. The way keyboard numpads are designed, the 0 key should be pressed by the thumb and the enter and + keys should be pressed by the pinky. But by moving the numpad to the left hand side without mirroring the key layout, the keys do not line up with their respective fingers. It baffles me why DSI did not mirror the numpad, maybe their designers have two right hands? I would prefer spending a few minutes to relearn a mirrored numpad than have to contort my fingers to hit keys meant to be used with the opposite hand.Another issue is the backspace key is tiny while the enter key is huge. Who even uses this layout anymore?! Practically every keyboard out there nowadays increases the size of the back space key and replaces part of the enter key with the backslash. I use the backspace key much more than the enter key, and having to stretch my pinky to the furthest corner to hit a tiny key is pretty cumbersome. The enter key is easy enough to hit as it is, it doesn't need to be 5 times the size of other keys. I guess the positive side to this is that it forces me type with fewer errors so I don't have to use the backspace key as often.Lastly, the keyboard bezel is much larger than it needs to be. There's a 3/4 inch bezel around the entire keyboard, which ends up taking valuable desk space. Maybe it's needed for structural support, but then they could have used another material than just plastic. My Ducky mechanical keyboard, which I got for $20 less than this keyboard, is made from metal. I'm sure they could afford to use a better material.Even with these issues, I still believe this is the best keyboard for right handers available. The Cherry MX Red switches and the freed up space on the right side of the keyboard are wonderful features. I'm glad DSI decided to make this keyboard, even though there's not a very big market for it. Hopefully, they will release another iteration with a better numpad layout and backspace keys. If you're in the market for a mechanical keyboard, I would highly recommend this one! 4Unbelievably Exceptionally Quality Keyboard I wish I could give this item 6 stars instead of 5. This keyboard is meant to last a VERY VERY long time. Absolutely exceptional quality. I literally used to bring mine to work with me every day instead of using my company's garbage keyboards. I eventually bought a second one for home! I wasn't even sure what I was buying when I clicked on it. I have been using mine for several months now. It is showing no wear despite my heavy use of it. The reason the price is higher than other keyboards is its exceptional resilience when typing. You don't have to fight it; just lightly tap the keys and they readily bounce back. Its like the typewriter keys I used in middle school in the early 90's. You won't develop hand and wrist problems like you do from inferior quality keyboards. If you already have hand/wrist problems (like me), this keyboard will lessen your pain because you are actually doing less work while typing. Its definitely just that good and worth the extra price. Unbelievable. 5
