Customer Reviews

low speed is margional This tool is not the same as one I purchased a few years ago (perhaps 6-10 years). The first one I received was useless on the low speed. I don't think it ever got past about 3000 RPM and sounded like a bad bearing all the time. It was replaced with one which mostly works. It typically takes 30-60 sec to get up to speed on the low setting. When it eventually does it is at 13000 RPM no load. I suppose that is close enough to the advertised 15000 RPM. Clearly the speed control has been changed and not for the better. The high speed setting seems the same as all other Dremmel tools, reasonably powerful. 4Light and powerful Originally ordered the 3000 but had to send it back as it had issues with the variable speed control switch. Glad I ordered this one as the two speeds are enough and I think the smaller size will make it easier to control. I prefer the dremel brand as they have a reputation for longevity ( father has an old 200 and has really put it to the test over the last 15 years or so. Be sure to read the manual and let run for 5 minutes with no attachments to seat the motor brushes, very important !!! Do wish it came with a case but there are second party companies that make universal cases. 5Happy to update this review if dremel offers a solution I was excited about getting my first dremel until i realized that the collet is too small to fit any of the included bits? Happy to update this review if dremel offers a solution. 1The Industry Standard I can't believe I've gone my entire life without having at least a basic Dremel tool, but that's all changed.I opted for the Model 200 that has high and low speeds. The picture you see is what comes in the $40 unit, 15 various starter bits, and a cool attachment that lets you sharpen garden tools like axes, hoes and mower blades. The box says the unit was designed in the USA, manufactured in Mexico. The bits are sourced from various countries. This is the perfect way to get started with a Dremel kit and all I might suggest to prospective buyers is to decide whether you want a corded or cordless unit.If you have any questions, call the number on the manual in Racine, Wisconsin and if Shirley answers, you're in luck. They might not be made here, but you can talk to a human if need be and this is a fine product. 5Just what I needed I have used a small battery powered dremel for years to file down our dogs nails. The battery started to die so I bought a new battery. The charger then decided to act up and I was done. My husband picked me up a Dremel 3000 from HD which was nice but after the first use 1st speed quit, then 2nd.I saw this one and it looked like it would work for what I wanted it for. Just two speeds and a smaller size that fits my hand better. We have two large great danes with very thick nails. The lower speed is more than enough to trim and file down their nails. The high speed would be quicker but they are still young enough that any stress would turn a nail trimming session into a rodeo, so slow it is!This dremel has already proven itself to work better than the 3000 model at a fraction of the cost. Very pleased with my purchase! 5Best model for your money We use these daily at work for cutting and trimming all sorts of metals and wood. Actually we wear out at least one a year and have tried all different models and manufacturers. However, we always go back to buying these. They are inexpensive, built like a tank and not difficult to repair when the brushes wear out. They simply work. 5Not at all I m versatile and not much value for the money I had a variable speed grandma which stopped working recently. Unfortunately, you can t just go out and buy a replacement drama for some reason. You have to buy the entire kit which is a waste of money. I bought this two speed Dremel thinking that it would be just as good as my variable and not get stuck with a lot of accessories and I did not need. Unfortunately, it was not a very good move. I didn t realize what a pain to use a two speed Dremel would be like. The slow speed is pretty worthless, can t imagine what you would use it for. I put a cutter wheel on it and it just did not have enough power to do anything. I went to the high speed and it was overkill. A two speed Dremel is just worthless as you really need a medium speed for some projects. This has basically no versatility and is not really a great value for the money. Once you have had a variable Dremel, you would not want to use a two speed. I really wouldn t recommend this at all, do yourself a favor and spend a little more and get a variable. 2Great Pet Nail Grinders WTF, these things are great. They cost about 30% less than the pet nail grinders do, and can be used for a multitude of other things around the house. 4This is a great tool for trimming a dogs nails! I love using this for my dogs nails, no more having to hurt him with the normal nail clippers. The electric nail trimmer they sell in the pet stores, is a joke. This does all nails in no time. I am so glad I bought this. I'd recommend this to any dog owner. 5Used to cut metal effortlessly I used this to cut a little bit of the metal dash in my Vintage Volkswagen Beetle because I added some extra gauges, little hack saws weren't cutting it. This product did the trick perfectly and effortlessly and cut the dash in mere seconds. Very happy with my purchase! Reasonable price and fast shipping too! 5
