    Saved an heirloom wine glassOne of my crystal Rosenthal wine glasses had a chipped base. This tool easily smoothed out the sharp, c-shaped chip. With a little more effort, I filed the chip out completely and rounded off that portion of the base. The repaired wine glass does not look perfect; but, the repair is not very obvious. I've also used this tool successfully on a chipped glass pitcher and a ceramic coffee mug.5Worked better than expected. Was going to throw a few Waterford Goblets away when I Googled how to repair and found this. This worked easily for rounding off the small chips and making crystal usable. Will use it on a few other items just remembered I have. Then will HIDE it in china cabinet vs putting in the tool box for THE BORROWERS. 5I'm very pleased with this purchaseI found a gorgeous crystal bowl for $9 at a thrift store. The identical bowl was listed online for $295! It had a small, barely noticeable chip on one edge that I wouldn't have bothered with had it not been a little sharp. I used the crystal saver on the area and it filed down with no effort. I'm very pleased with this purchase.5Works well to restore the usability of glasses with chipped rims and basesThis product does a good job of polishing chips in crystal rims so the glasses are still usable. It does not give you a perfectly restored rim as part of the glass was lost because of the chip; but it will smooth the edge so the glass is still usable. It will also smooth the edges of a footed base, but again will not give the appearance of a perfectly round edge as it was originally.5Quick and easy to use in repairing glass chippingI recently chipped a really nice wine glass from a set of four. The chip was unsightly and sharp enough that it could cut someone. So, I was on the brink of tossing this glass until I searched for glass repair tools and found the crystal saver. I was able to use this tool to quickly smooth out the edge. Within a couple minutes, the glass looked good as new. Without very close inspection, no one would know from sight or touch that the glass had ever been chipped. I got my money back by not having to toss the glass.5So Easy to Use - Exactly as Described!I'd held off on buying this for years and now I regret having waited so long. I could have saved so many items that I ended up tossing. What a shame. It really is quite easy to use. I like having it on hand for when needed.5Great ProductI have some dishes that I didn't want to ditch because of small chips, so I took a chance and ordered this product. Very easy to use. Wet the file and work on the chip, making sure to file in both directions. I started out only filing in one direction, but the results weren't all that great. Filing in both directions (back and forth) gives the best results.5metal shard in middle of fileI bought this a couple of months ago and just took it out to file a couple of small chips on 2 Waterford goblets. Unfortunately there is a metal shard in the middle of the file making the smooth side unusable for the most part. Not sure how that gets past quality control but I did try the curved side and it seemed to make the chips worse. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I am sorry I waited so long to use it as I am passed the return period.1Easy to use & effective. I bought this, to fix a glass candle chimney (see pictures) that had some chips. It was effective and fairly easy to use. The handle is heavier than it looks, which is a good thing.It makes it easier to apply just enough force to the glass. The areas on which you use this file will look frosted when you re done; there is no avoiding this. If you need to salvage a piece of glass, get this. It works! 5Nice little tool - can save you some money on glasswareHandy little tool that can save you some money on crystal. I don't think crystal glassware made today is as good as the stuff make 20 or 30 years ago. Even expense glasses will get chips in them and ruin them. (Don't wash you crystal in the dishwasher as it it too hot for them now days.)I had $18 crystal glass get a chip after a couple of uses, so I figured I would try this. It worked pretty well, the glass is usable, but the damage is pretty noticeable. ('ll use that glass for someone I don't like.)I figure if I can save a couple of other glasses with it over the years, it will be worth the purchase.5Rescue your fine crystal Of course, it's too bad when you need this! But it saves the day when your fine crystal water or wine goblets get a tiny chip on the rim. A careful two or three swipes and you've rescued your priceless pieces. 5DIDN'T MEASURE UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS!I was so happy to receive this tool. So, I used it on 6 pieces of glass. The file tool worked OK on VERY small nicks on the rim surface, but, for real chips, the tool left a whitish mark and did NOT polish the chip down. Also, the type of glass you have is important. For fully leaded "crystal" glass, that's softer, the file works best. But, for other types of glass it just left a residue and didn't do the job. I can't recommend this.2
