Customer Reviews

Small, simple, but does an excellent job.I recently purchased a D-Link DAP-1665 to add an extra access point to my home. I have 20 security cameras, everyone has a cell phone (4 total) and there are 3 iPads, a Nintendo Wii U and a Nintendo Switch. This little device is right now handling 6 security cameras, 2 BlackBerries KeyOne, and an iPad. So far so good. No complains at all. Be aware that the signal on the 5 GHz band does not reach as far as the 2.4 GHz, so for all devices that will usually be relatively far from the access point, make sure to setup the 2.4 GHz band.Update:So far, I have purchased 3 of this. They do an excellent job!5Business features for a consumer priceI was looking for something with advanced networking features (like 802.1Q, multi-SSID, and POE support) for a consumer-level price. This device delivered on all my expectations. As mentioned by others, the device configuration process doesn't involve any hand-holding, so unless you're technical or adventurous, you may want to consider alternatives.5Not so Great. This extender does not do a very good job of extending my WiFi and I live in a small, single floor house.3I highly recommend this API purchased this AP for two separate business locations after trying several Netgear and Linksys entry level business APs that were full of firmware bugs that required daily resets to correct. So far both the D-Link A1750s have both been running trouble free for 2 weeks. One of the APs that I purchased is in a 5,000 sqft building and it provides ample coverage for the entire building. The AP body is all metal and feels very well made. I highly recommend this AP.5Works Great!I purchased this access point to replace the wireless portion of my Verizon Fios router which had only barely adequate coverage in my 2 story house. The fact that it supports POE made locating the access point much easier. I have it mounted vertically on the side of a wooden file cabinet. All that was necessary was to run a Cat-6e cable to it from my Ethernet switch.About the only tricky part of the setup was the fact that when you finish making changes on the configuration page and then click on "SAVE" on the bottom of the page you are NOT finished. You must go to the top of the page to the Configuration tab and click on "Save and Activate" otherwise when you log out of the AP and back in all your changes will have reverted to their default values. That took a couple of minutes to figure out!As to the coverage - its great! I have been able to eliminate 2 WiFi repeaters that I had been using in order to provide a decent signal throughout my house. All my wireless devices work so much better now. In addition, my Verizon router only supported 802.11 b/g/n on the 2.4 GHz band. Since this AP transmits on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously and most of my wireless devices support 5 GHz most devices have seen a significant performance improvement. The best money I ever spent on WiFi equipment. Highly recommended!5Best Access Point I Have Ever OwnedI have gone through several access points over the years. This not only has the range, but additional flexibility the others never had, like the ability to have multiple SSIDs broadcasting. The speed has been amazing as well. Totally worth the extra $ for this quality.5Easy to configure and setupWhen through 2 others before this . Very easy to set up and configure as a WiFi access point in client mode.5(Edit) D-Link gives excellent customer service, but product did not work for usEDIT: My original review was 1 star, which prompted the D-Link VP of Sales to contact me. Emails went back and forth for some time, but we were able to send the unit back and receive a full refund for the product, including any shipping costs. I am very pleased with their willingness to work with us during this whole ordeal. The only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars is the fact that I had to write a 1-star review to get this service in the first place (never underestimate the power of a 1-star review). But, you can't argue with results, and this is the exact end result we were looking for. I am sure the product works great in a variety of settings and scenarios, it just didn't in our deployment. If you wish to read the original 1-star horror story, see below."After purchasing this router for one of our clients (their corporate IT department said this device was mandatory) there kept being this issue with the wireless kicking them off. After a lot of testing and ruling out every other possible problem, from the cable run to the PoE Injector to the port in the router and the firmware of the AP, we came to the inevitable conclusion that this AP was defective. We had already passed the 30-day return policy here, so we had to take it up with D-Link RMA department directly. They processed it and approved the swap, which cost our customer $30 to ship back and they were very displeased. We get their replacement unit, install it, and less than a week later the same thing happens. This put our client through the roof with fury as their corporate IT department won't support it and D-Link won't issue a refund. Why? Because, very specifically, we acquired it through Amazon and not their D-Link partner vendors. So, in the end, we disregarded their corporate IT Department's mandates on what equipment they can use and got them a FortiAP-221C (out of our pocket just to keep their business) and they haven't had any issues since. But, Lesson learned, D-Link (or at least this product of theirs) is garbage."4It works.Very configurable. Hi/low power settings work well. It works nothing to comment. It does what it does as expected no issues.5A great multi use product. This thing was very easy to setup. I checked to be sure it had the latest firmware, which it did. It is considered a business class item with D-Link, so if you need tech support start there. I know this because I called tech support before I purchased to confirm my application would work. I spoke with Brandon and his knowledge and support was outstanding!!! I highly recommend this piece of equipment...5
