Customer Reviews

Good quality, works great! The Digigear CF to SD card adapter makes a great addition to my digital SLR camera equipment. My camera takes Type 2 Compact Flash cards (the thicker kind).Only problem is that CF cards are quite expensive compared to SD cards. This adapter allowed me to make a 256 GB card for my camera at about half the cost.I tested this adapter with a higher end 256 GB SD card against a higher end 64 GB CF card. The adapter plus SD card clocks in at about 80% of the speed of the CF card when writing data. Reads of data are virtually identical in speed.Since my camera does not shoot video, I cannot test if the SD card plus CF adapter is fast enough for video, but I can say that the CF adapter keeps up with "full auto" shooting (holding the shutter button down and taking photo after photo).Recording data from the camera as fast as it's produced is tough for any memory card and indeed a few of my old, slow CF cards from the "1 or 2 GB era" cannot keep up. But my newer "premium" CF cards can, and so can the CF to SD adapter, so I am 100% pleased with it.As far as quality, the adapter is nicely made. It seems a touch heavier than I would have expected, but it is solidly made so no complaints here. The SD card socket is the "push-push" type. You insert the SD card, press it in and it latches with a click (i.e. it can't slide out under vibration). To remove the SD card, just press it again and it pops out about half way under spring pressure. In summary, this adapter is well built, works great, the data speeds are almost good as an actual CF card and it saves the user a lot of $$$ compared to buying CF cards. I give it both thumbs up.5Problem SOLVED with the Nikon/Canon CF card slot!Camera: Nikon D4SCards: Multiple SD cards, from Transcend 2 GB SD Card (TS2GSDC) to SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB UHS-I/U3 SDHC and higher.Tether for import: Apple Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader (MD822AM/A)With the iPhone 5S and above now able to actually use its internal Photos app to read and import from SD cards using the Lightning adapter, I also needed an SD to CF card adapter, since the Nikon D4S has no SD card slot. We need the adapters to transmit images while shooting breaking news and late sports games, and while my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 can do this, its 1" chip size makes it hard to justify using it to shoot late night images and footage, like the D4S can. I've already added a GGS Perfect Foldable LCD Viewfinder to the LCD screen because we are required to capture video as well, using the smaller one which fits better than the newer, more expensive one, which didn't fit. Couple this with my NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G Lens and I can shoot a number of daytime events, night scenes, high school football and basketball, and transfer any images and 1080p, full frame video I want using all the SD cards I have, from the 2GB, 4, 8, 16, 32 (have yet to try 64GB). I've tried shooting them with stills and video and no problems with any buffer delays. Using the old 2GB CF card, I could shoot 1080p video and I tried sitting on the 11fps shutter and it kept shooting without a need to pause to write, so the newer cards work even better, writing to the card inside. It also works using a Kingston Digital SD Adapter with 16GB microSDHC Card (SDC4/16GBET) but the rub on a MicroSD adapter is that there is no fingernail ridge to help you remove it from the CF adapter. It's easy to remove the MicroSD but you need to do a little work to remove the MicroSD / SD adapter. That can be a good thing if that's all you use; the micro card easily slides in and out but the micro adapter is snugly secure. An IMPORTANT note however. Make certain, for the Nikon cameras, to get the CF Type I adapter, and NOT the Type II size. Nikons only accept Type I cards which are thinner, and Type II does not properly fit, nor are they supported by Nikon.5Works for Canon 5D Mark III - But 25MB/sec performance limit So I own many SD cards (usually most more affordable than CF) and wanted to take advantage of the CF slot on my Canon 5D Mark III DSLR.I'm glad I did my research first and that the 5D Mark III takes this Type I CF (not Type II which will be too thick to fit)I was worried about performance hit, or if it would even work for that matter, and although people may think this just converts SD to CF with no performance hit, this is actually not quite true.It even states on the packaging in very small fineprint "Please be noted that this adapter will not accelerate the inserted media; it only converts the real access speed of the media. There is a theoretical performance limit on 25MB/s"I inserted a 64GB Lexar 150MB/sec 1000x SD card into CF adapter using Lexar USB 3 reader and it was copying my files to a limiting 25 MB/sec. When I removed it from the CF card, it read/wrote much faster. There is no spring, so it can also be difficult to remove and it may pop out not the way you intend to using your nails.Pros:- Converts SD to CF (works with 5D Mark III)Cons:- 25MB/sec performance hit- Difficult to remove (be careful as it keeps flying out when I try to move it with my finger nails) 4Worked in my Nikon D700 without issue. I bought this for my old Nikon D700 and it works as advertised. The Nikon D700 has a magnesium alloy body so I wasn't expecting across the home sync with my Toshiba 32GB FlashAir III Wireless SD Memory Card, White,(PFW032U-1CCW). However with a small tablet or phone nearby this works just like it should. Time will tell in regards to durability. 5Confirming it works fine with Samsung 512 GB EVO Plus microSDXC512 GB microSD with its micro-to-full-sized adapter works with this Espresscard-to-SD adapter. The adapter takes a full sized SD card, so you have to use the micro-to-full-sized adapter that comes with the SD card. That means a redundant set of electrical connections to go bad. Next generation needs an Expresscard adapter that accepts microSD cards directly.Sony Vaio VPCF1 1st-generation-i7 laptop. Adapter sticks out a few millimeters, no problem, not enough to get stuck on passers-by.Laptop says card capacity is 476 GB, and I have 23 GB remaining. All my torrent-sharing is done on with SD card, happy to get the continual activity off of the mechanical hard drive and onto the SD card. Thanks for the Expresscard-to-SD adapter. Now the laptop has an extra, fast 512 GB in addition to the 512 GB hard drive, and there's no downside to keeping the Expresscard adapter inserted continuously. It does, however, insert, lock, and remove without any problem.5Works like a charm!!! Recommended for SLIM CF card slots. (Nikon) Works perfectly. you will get a Format Card message on your camera until you insert an SD card into the adapter. My suggestions are that once you insert it the SD card into the adapter and place it into your camera, then format your card. I'm using the CF Adapter with a Nikon D810 and paired it with the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card (SDSDXXG-128G-GN4IN), purchased 2 so that one sits in my SD card slot and the other in the CF card slot using this CF adapter. Tested at 7fps, checked read/write to ensure this is an authentic SanDisk card. Both the adapter and SD cards used worked flawlessly (so far). I'm ordering a 2nd adapter as a backup.SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card (SDSDXXG-128G-GN4IN)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J5RH06K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 5Does what it says it does.Bought together with a bunch of 128GB Samsung Evo micro SD cards so I can be away from a PC on a long road trip. This combo works just fine in my now pretty ancient Canon 5D mk2. Performance is ever so slightly reduced versus my performance CF cards - flushing the buffer takes a bit longer, image playback is a bit slower. It's very marginal though and I can live with it for having 4x the capacity for the same cost (CF vs. SD).I also didn't want to buy any more CF cards as I use the micro SDs in my DJI products, and when I make the shift to a more modern camera body that's likely to be SD based too.As other reviews note, it would have been nice if the SD card was removable without removing the CF card from the camera, and the SD card adapter (since I'm using micosd cards) seems stuck in there now too ... I don't plan to bother removing it and risk breaking things before I travel.4Review of Digigear SDXC/SD/SDHC to CF type II adapterThis was purchased as part of an experiment using SCXC cards in the SD holder, placed in a CF slot in both Nikon and Canon cameras. CF cards are thankfully still available but can be pricey if you want 16 or more GBs. To date, we've had great success using up to 128 GB PNY and Sandisk SDXC micro USB cards in these older DSLRs. Considering the larger size SDXC micro USB cards didn't exist (or were extremely expensive) at the time those cameras came on the market, it's nice to get fast speed and large capacity without having to keep many CF cards on hand. Sometimes you don't know a thing is possible until you try it yourself. This was a great buy, promptly fulfilled by Amazon as always. Highly recommended if your camera can use a Type II CF.5Great for additional storageWorks great as a backup for my Nikon D810. I run two 128gb micro sd cards in sd adapters, on in the primary and now one in the CF slot for overflow pictures with this adapter. Some have said it fits tight, I didn't think so. The one weird thing is that with the design the SD goes in sideways so you have to take the adapter out to get to the SD. No biggie, you'll rarely take it out anyways. This worked perfect for me.5Perfect adapter for reviving an old iPod.Worked like a charm! Revived an old 3rd gen iPod with this adapter going from 20GB to 128GB using an SD card and an IDE to CF adapter.5The price difference with sony media its a no brainer! This Adapter WORKS GREAT! im still checking if theres actually a quality difference between this with a SDXC card and the SXS. At this point i cant notice any difference tho.The price difference its a no brainer! even if it fails on a few months im able to buy 10 of this for the price of one the Sony 64gb SXS.The only thing that "bothers" me is that when you stop recording the light on the card reader of my camera stays red for a few seconds after turning green again. i dont know if it means something bad or not..Its a lot faster to expulse the SD card from this, plug it into your notebook or 3.0 adapter than ingesting directly from the camera with that old slow Mini USB to USB 2.0 cable. if you dont have the Sony Card 3.0 card reader of course (which is again EXPENSIVE AF!)i was skeptical at first but this adapter really works!im buying two more soon to use them as on camera backup recordings in CCTVs if the signal or cable runs fails to the switcher.AMAZING PRODUCT!Im using it on a SONY PMW-EX1 shooting 1080P 60i HQ with a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB SDXC UHS-I / EVERYTHING GOOD SO FAR!5Fast engough for videos in DSLRs and RAW photosI have a Canon 5D Mark II and a 7D, both of which uses CF cards. While the CF cards may be faster, they are a lot more expensive (for example, 64GB SD costs about $35, vs 64GB CF costs at least $70). Also, all of my other devices uses SD and MicroSD cards, so I don't want to get CF cards just for my cameras. My criteria are that the SD + adapter combination are fast enough for me to shoot 8 RAW photos on the 7D, and fast enough to support video-shooting on the 5D2 and 7D. I had tried a previous version of SD-to-CF adapter a couple of years back, but it wasn't fast enough to support either of my objectives. I gave up and used CF for a few years. But then this became available and received good reviews. The price is low enough that I bought one to try it. And it worked! I was actually surprised that this inexpensive adapter is fast enough. I have been using the adapter plus 32GB SD cards for 6 months now and am perfectly happy.5Big disappointment I got this because of the risk of bending the pins (again) while inserting CF cards. But you still have to remove the adapter every time you want to get to the SD card. The instructions seem to say the opposite:"1. Insert the media card into this adapter, then insert the adapter to the CF socket of the device 2. To Extract the inserted media card, please directly pull out the card."Problem is: You cannot "directly pull out the (SD) card" unless you first remove the adapter. I hope they will revise their description to say:"2. To Extract the inserted media card, please remove the adapter adn then directly pull out the card."If they had said that, then I wouldn't have wasted my money. 3Gives older DSLRs a new lease on life I purchased this adapter because many high-end DSLRs seem to be moving away from the CF format in favor of the smaller, less-expensive SD format. I'm afraid it won't be long until CF cards will be hard to find. Also, most new desktop and laptop computers have an SD card slot. Since I own several DSLRs that use CF cards, I wanted to be sure that I had the means to move along with the technology. This adapter works as advertised. Just insert an SD, SDHC, or SDXC card into the adapter and then put the adapter into the CF slot of the camera. The camera knows no difference. A great device at a reasonable price that will extend the useable life of many older DSLRs. 5This works for a Honda premium navigation system. Load ...This works for a Honda premium navigation system. Load MP3 or WMA files onto the SD card, plug it into this, insert it into Nav system, select "card" and viola! instant music, podcasts or whatever. Once it is inserted, you do not need to remove it, you can pull out the SD card with tweezers or fine pliers and insert a new SD card while this PCMCIA card is still locked into the stereo unit.BTW:I have read that, for Honda navigation systems, you cannot use an SD card greater than 4GB, It may work but not reliably. I don't know this first hand but 4GB is like 12,000 MP3 songs. Oh yeah, If you reformat the card select either FAT or FAT32 file system, newer XFAT or NTFS formats will not work since the 2006 - 2011 Honda sound systems were developed using the older file systems. The unit closes snug and the size is just right.5works for now I always get nervous when using adapters as a permanent solution. but a man gotta do what a man gotta do.the design looks slick, looks sturdy, and most of all! it works. I'm using micro SD -> SD -> CF adapter and seems like no issues with transfer.only bad thing so far is when SD card is inserted, it is very difficult for me to take it back out.overall, no issues with my Canon 50D 4This CF-1 to DS adapter allowed me to update 2 Nikon D700 DLSRs to wi-fi era smartphone capability 07SEP2018This CF-1 to SD card adapter allowed me to update 2 Nikon D700 DLSRs (which use CF-1 cards) to wi-fi era smartphone capability, saving me about $6,000 for NOT having to buy 2 new Nikon Z-6 bodies and a lens or two!I wanted to convert my 2 Nikon D700 DLSR's to have at least some wi-fi capability, to be able to download a great photos or two when out and about, to my Android Smartphone and edit slightly if needed and send out immediately via Email or text without getting to a computer to download images from the CF-1 card, and to standardize to an SD card which almost every Windows based laptop and desktop has a built in SD Card reader. THIS CF-1 to SD CARD ADAPTER ALLOWED THIS!Using this CF-1 TO SD CARD ADAPTER along with a Toshiba Flashair W-04 16Gb wi-fi card, today (07SEP2018). I was able to get my Android Galaxy S-8, using the Flashair App from the Google Play store, to easily read the files on the card while the card was in the Nikon D700 (claims by others that the metal body of the Nikon D700 interfered with wi-fi were premature!). I was able to select which photos to download to the smartphone and then could easily, edit or crop (if needed) and send them from the phone via Email or text. I suppose one could upload the downloaded images to FaceRook, Tweeter or InstaMaGram, but I do not use social media.Getting the wi-fi card to work through my home router (windows 10) to download photo to the PC without removing the card from the camera has proven problematic (NOT DUE TO THE ADAPTER) as the computer Network selector allows me to select and logon to the wi-fi card, however, Windows File Explorer does not allow me to Map the card as a drive. I have found instructions on the Internet to edit the config file on the wi-fi card but this may be required each time a new network is used, thus, I am still happy to use this CF-1 to SD card adapter with a wi-fi SD card because I now have SD card capability which allows me to use SD cards which can be read almost anywhere compared to having to alway carry a card reader with me which can handle a CF-1 card. 5
