Customer Reviews

Wow, I didn't drop one screw in a week of doing drywall Overall this is great add on for the Dewalt cordless drywall screw gun. I was able to get through an entire basement remodel without dropping one screw. I had a couple of jams but they were able to be fixed rather quickly. If you have a drywall project coming up don't walk away from this product. 5Works! Worked perfect. Easy set up. Made the job twice as easy. I used the Senco screws and never had a problem. Did a kitchen and dining room without one malfunction. 5Easy to unjam. Took like 15 seconds or less. The other guy is wrong. Loving this attachment. There was a picture that was showing a jamb. It is misleading! The guy just didn't read the instructions and could not see the adjustment that needs to be made on side. He tried to put 2" screws when it was set to 1" deep. I hope these pictures help clarify how easy it is to unjam. Now for my regular review:Works great. I lock the gun trigger on, and as perpendicular to material as possible, push and it all most seems too quick cause it's done before I know it. If I hit it wrong, pop off collating attachment and drive in screw the rest of the way.It is totally worth the attachment, especially if you have the drill already. But recommend getting the whole drill, battery, charger, combo and get two batteries and a charger for $30 essentially if go for the full kit instead of tool only. I got it on sale. For the attachment, has to have the DeWalt bit that is skinnier then the normal "6 power bits.I would have given 5 stars if they also sold square tip bits. But I kinda want to put 5stars anyways cause this thing is awesome. And also my be able to drill another hole for longer screws. I will see what I do in the future.Or they may do what Makita did and sell an attachment part that is longer to allow driving longer screws and probably a longer custom bit.DeWalt, please hear me! 4Almost a great tool 70% of the time i love this tool. The other 30% i despise the engineers that designed it. Like most said, you must be square with the sheets or you will no get a full set screw (completely understandable). What really gets me frustrated is how bulky the rig is. Half the time i don't even attempt to use this in any type of corner situation, or where the screw is close to a wall or object as you wont even close get a pull set. Also a big downfall is the bits are one off and are not easily available and no options for square drive bits. With that being said, this tool really reduces the time when hanging a decent amount of rock. If Dewalt would do a redesign and make it more user friendly/handy it would be an easy 5 stars. 3Was great until it wasn t If you try to be a man and just load this up and start screwing away, you ll instantly find that your screws will get jammed immediately. You have to make sure you unlock the front mechanism and set the depth for the specific screws you are using. Once that s set... it should only take a push or two to get the screws feeding through beautifully. Every once and a while you ll get a dud or missed screw... but you can just skip those and re-feed the strip to run those screws through later. Definitely better than driving screws one by one if you are doing a lot of drywall.Problem is that after about 40 sheets... (not even all the screws needed for the 40 sheets), the fu@&er stops auto feeding! Now I have to pull on the strip a little after each screw is driven in. Pretty maddening.... but.... I ll admit... it s still better than driving screws in one by one.Now I m out of my 30 day window to return... I m halfway through my project and I can t afford to send this out and wait for a warranty replacement.... so I m stuck pulling the strip a little after every other screw until we are done installing 124 total sheets.Dare I take it apart and try to fix it myself?? 2Here is your Square Bit solution! This collated screw magazine is built nicely. It is mostly thick plastic construction, with some metal. Overall it is very sturdy and attaches firmly to the DCF620 screw gun.As you can see from other reviews, DeWalt ONLY sells Phillips head bits for this screw gun at the time of this review. 2 bits are included with the DCF6201. If you want to use collated screws that require a #2 square bit, and there are many square bit screws, you are out of luck in terms of DeWalt bits. Also, this attachment only allows for bits with about a 4mm wide shaft, and most 3rd party bits have a 5 or 6mm shaft width. If you have about 15 minutes and some DIY know-how, here is what you need to do to have a square head bit:1) Buy this bit http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X4YYNE?keywords=forney%20bit&qid=1447868248&ref_=sr_ph&sr=1 . This bit is still too thick, but only by a little bit. You need to grind the shaft down a bit to make this fit.2) About 3/4" back from the tip, you see a ridge where the shaft thickens. You need to grind down the shaft to remove the ridge completely.3) I installed the bit in my regular drill, and set the drill to its fastest speed.4) rest the drill bit on a rasp, like this http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-6695-10-Inch-Half-Round/dp/B000NPT6RU/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1447868352&sr=1-6&keywords=rasp . You want the rasp to be perpendicular to the bit, so when you run the drill the teeth on the rasp grind down the drill bit shaft.5) Start the drill on low speed so the teeth dig into the bit, and then increase the drill speed as you move the rasp up and down the drill bit shaft. You should see small bits of metal shaving off. Try to move consistently and constantly to make sure the grinding is even. do NOT grind down the drill bit tip at all.6) Once the shaft is ground down so there is no longer a ridge near the bit tip, stop using the rasp, and switch to sandpaper. I used 80 grit sandpaper first - holding the sandpaper around the bit while running the drill. Then I switched to 220 grit to make the shaft smoother.7) test the bit by sliding into the collated attachment. The bit will fit more easily into the yellow portion than the black portion of the attachment, so make sure the bit fits the entire attachment completely. Repeat steps 4-6 as necessary. The process took me about 15 minutes. I have not tested the strength of the ground-down bit, but the listing for the bit says it is treated steel, and should hold up for normal usage. This is the only solution at the moment, until DeWalt or another company releases bits that are thin enough for this gun.Hope this helps! Any questions - list them in the comments! 5Good product. Works as advertised. No metal splinters! Ease of use. Really fast screw driving. I suppose a bit of a negative is that with the ease of use, I tend to put too many screws in. Other than that, if you're planning even the smallest drywall job, go ahead and get this. Another plus is, that when setting the screws manually, I do tend to get metal splinters from the screws, but with this, no splinters as no touching of screws. That in itself is worth the money spent. Enjoy! 5Do you like to move fast? Get this tool. I'm a general contractor and have scaled down my operation over the past 3 years. Now I take on projects that I can either complete without help or with day labor. Though I seldom review tools (and there are very few I don't own), I have to comment on the collated drywall attachment.Note: I ordered 10,000 Senco collated screws. They work perfectly.Take 5 minutes to familiarize yourself either took: there's a screw length setting that's important, plus the depth of screw setting, both of which are clearly marked and easy to set.The attachment is designed to work with the cordless DeWalt drywall drill. Make sure you have that.I've driven about 8000 screws and the unit has worked flawlessly. Though there's lots of plastic, it has a solid feel and seems rugged. If you've ever worked a standard drywall drill, you'll kick yourself for not getting this attachment sooner. I can set a 4x8 against the ceiling with my lift and drive 50 screws in less than 90 seconds. I've done 50 in under a minute, so if you REALLY want to get on with it, this attachment will get it done.Bam! 5A must need for anything more than a patch! ... A must need for anything more than a patch! Seriously, cute the time by 400%. I haven t had any issues. A couple jams that were so to drilling in reverse. Simple to un-jam. 5Must buy Great buy, make sure u guy auto feed and senco screws, it will save you hours on jobs, also I put 2000 screws 1 1/4 and another 1000 1 5/8 with a single pit. Furthermore for ceiling it s the best thing u can put 50 screws in 2 min without ladders for 7.5 ft ceilings. This is must buy. 5
