Customer Reviews

worked well for my need I needed to plugin a wifi extender to my ceiling to get best signal range for my house, so what I did was connect a light socket extender from the inside of my recess light then I placed an outlet adapter inside that extended socket. This lighting trim served the purpose of making the outlet look neater after I made a hole in its center where the extended socket comes through just far enough. By doing this it doesn't show the open space exposed with the bulb removed. 5Replaced yellowing builder s installed shower lights After I posted a review for a flood light, someone kindly commented that my trims were an ugly yellow. I had been oblivious to the gradual change but once it was pointed out, I decided to replace all the old trims. After replacing the baffles and trims on the recessed cans in the bathroom, I realized how yellow the shower and tub lights had become. I thought this 6 trim seemed to be a matching size replacement and I was happy to find that the fit was exact.I did have an electrician install two of these along with 60 watt equivalent Daylight LED bulbs and they look quite nice and reflect a lot of light. After the electrician left, I was startled to realize that one of the lights seemed to whistle and vibrate when the air conditioner was running. I was able to push it more to one side and solve the problem but wish I had purchased air tight fixtures. While I was trying to stop the air leak, I realized how tightly the trim hugged the ceiling. I m hoping that it will not be too difficult for me to pull the trim loose to change the bulb when needed.Overall, I like the look of the fixture as well as the light output as well as the fact that I don t have to worry about the fixture falling off the ceiling. :) 4Well Built Shower Trim Cover After 20 years, my plastic cover in the shower broke when I was changing the light bulb. I researched on Amazon, and the reviews were very good for this cover; it has a steel trim as well as the steel mount for the spring clips. My old plastic mount for the spring clips is where it broke on my old cover. I was going to buy this as my local hardware store and decided to see if Amazon sells it, and there it was, I got this in two days and installed it.The glass lens is perfect, and it fits perfect, along with a limited 10 year warranty that most of the other manufactures did not offer. I would recommend this product. 5Fits perfectly, looks great, covers up the previous owner's mistakes The previous owner of my house installed recess lighting everywhere. Apparently he used the cover as a template when cutting the holes though because they're exactly the same size as the standard 7" covers. I bought this because it's 8" wide but still designed for 6" cans. It's perfect. It took seconds to install and covered up the unsightly cutouts in the ceiling.I will say the profile of the cover isn't a proper arc, it has a flat plateau. This isn't an issue if you use the exclusively but it will appear different if placed next to most other covers. 5Nice trim, well-priced, but just an FYI, it's not a fresnel lens... so, no light-shaping through the frosted white glass. I'll update this when I see how it looks at night. I'm particular about the quality, and shape of light, and I found this product by searching for "fresnel light trim"... as you'll see many products on Amazon with a FRESNEL lens. Well... this trim looks appropriate for the price, but for some stupid reason (i.e. my product search, as well as "see what other customers bought in addition to this")... led me to believe this had a fresnel lens, and that the image in the listing just didn't quite show it. Well... nope, no fresnel lens. The lens is glass, but it's a translucent white glass, with a flat face on both sides... with a little bit of "grid" texture (another reviewer called it "pebbled") on the outside face.I intentionally went with deep can fixtures, and bought several different par bulbs to find ones with a good, semi-directional beam shape. I like the look of can-lights that create shafts of light, in-between slightly darker areas. It makes a nice aesthetic for architecture... or put simply, shafts of light, with a directional quality... accentuate shapes and areas of your house, both inside, and out. That is why I wanted fresnel trims... because a fresnel lens helps create a controlled... SHAPED... beam of light. So you say, "well, this listing doesn't say it IS a fresnel light... so what are you complaining about?"... Hey... I'm NOT complaining... I'm giving it 4-stars. My "complaint"... if you want to call it that... is that we don't have really good images to show what you're buying. Once you have it in your hand you can say, "yes the image shows exactly what you're getting" because you have the actual reference in your mind now... after holding the product... but on searching for "fresnel trims" and getting this in the results... I did expect the glass lens would have a fresnel quality to it, but it doesn't... not in the slightest. My hope is that at night... with use of a good LED dimmer, and my choice of bulbs (Philips warming-dimming 6.5 watt LED... also bought on Amazon, and love them)... well... my hope is that I can still create these "pockets of light"... I guess we'll know after the sun goes down.I wish someone made a recessed fresnel trim, with the glass stepped back up in the trim... So far I've only found one company... and they're around $40 EACH... yikes, but I have a hunch that these will end up on a shelf in the basement... as I continue my search, and likely buy a full set of other trims from Amazon... where I can see and verify an actual glass FRESNEL lens in the trim. For anyone wanting to see clearly what this trim looks like, I hope my images help.Pros? The springs, critiqued in another review... are good IMO... pretty much the norm, and my preferred method for mounting a trim, as it pulls the trim up tight to the can. The glass lens can pretty easily be removed from the back... enabling you to easily paint the trim to match anything... then pop the glass lens back in. Finally... the overall trim looks decently made and fits right into my installed Juno cans... which are IC22... 6" Air-Tite. 4Decent cover, but not compatible I'm giving this a 3 star rating because I bought it and realized I was unable to use it with my recessed housing.I looked high and low for information on this and there was not much to go on. After purchasing it, I realized I couldn't use it since it had the tension spring style mounts, instead of the hanging spring.(See pictures I added. Hopefully they will help).Overall the product seemed decent, and would keep water out of your housing, although I'm not sure it would keep moisture out. The lens was easy to move around and didn't give a tight seal. 3It is super easy to install I bought this trim to cover a recessed light that I never use and was very ugly to watch, as it was right above my couch. It is super easy to install: just compress the springy arms and put them inside the clips on the sides of the light housing (if you don't have any, these will do it: Recessed light clips for Downlight | 10 Pairs of Recessed Lighting Clips | Perfect for recessed retrofit down light); then you just push the trim gently upwards until it's flush against the ceiling. The light gets diffused softly and is not reduced at all. Also, the trim is made of metal, which is definitely a plus. 5Perfect to minimize the opening of traditional can lights. We wanted to use screw in bulbs for our new house but not have such a big opening. These worked perfectly. I did shop around and ordered 40 from another site for about 50% less, but this one was my test case and it was fine.I'm going to knock off one star. I still really like them, but the light from the can bleeds through, so there is a halo around the light. I did see some users that have taken them down and spray painted the inside ring black. So I might suggest you try that if the halo might bother you. 4Better quality and less expensive than Home Depot's This is a very high quality metal unit that compares very favorably to the plastic unit Home Depot sells, and is $4 less. In the attached images you can also how the Home Depot unit's bezel is translucent whereas this one is opaque. Easy choice: returning one to Home Depot and buying more of these from Amazon. 5Worth every penny. I was wavering between 4 and 5 stars and chose 5 because of the price and availability. I have 8 recessed lights -- none of which have ever had liners or covers. The carpentry of this old house isn't the most exact and liners just wouldn't fit (I don't think they're called "liners", they're the fittings that go up around the light bulb). So I picked up a similar cover to this at the local hardware to try out above the shower. I loved the look of it and decided to purchase for the fixtures above the kitchen sink and in the hallway and laundry. These covers were a few dollars less than the hardware. A good purchase for me and worked out well. They're well made, but just not as heavy as my hardware store purchase -- but who cares? They're hanging from the ceiling! 5
