Customer Reviews

Great product! It is smaller then the other deadon ... Went to a tactical convention where the guest speaker spoke about how all law enforcement should have something small that can open a door. Great product! It is smaller then the other deadon tool I own though as a warning. 5Works well, except for small finishing nails Tool is burly and handy, in the sense that it feels right in the hand. Wail away on it to dig out most nails. However, it works poorly on small finishing nails. The V-shaped slots end too wide. For small brads and finishing nails, and even small staples, the Estwing puller works better. 4Excellent in tight spots The longer I use this, the more I appreciate the design. I've used this for a year now, on a big, ongoing project in an old house, pulling probably 300 nails in various awkward, tight spots. Both claw ends are shaped to get a good grip on the nail head, and to give good leverage. This shines in tight spots. It's one thing to make a nail puller work in the lab. It's quite another to make one that just works in real old-construction settings. The square end directs hammer blows to the claw ends to get a bite on nails driven flush or even deeper into the board. Pivot points give good leverage.Superb design. 5No longer made in USA, now made in China. This item is no longer made in the USA. Like everything else it has been outsourced to a manufacturer in China. It's still the same design but obviously the material quality is no longer going to be great. 3The first nail puller I reach for I have a couple nail pullers and this is the one I reach for first and it's the one I use the most. Definitely was a good purchase, it has small but strong claws that can get into tight spots under the nail head that other pullers are too bulky and clumsy to get into. Would buy again if it were lost. 5to be easily leveraged out with the nail remover from a claw ... I had pallets that I wanted to reclaim the boards for a project. This sucker lifts nails out of the board, even deeply sunken nails, to be easily leveraged out with the nail remover from a claw hammer. 72 nails out in 40 minutes. It was time consuming, but it did a beautiful job preserving the boards without splitting boards or losing any nails. 5Made my demolition work go much faster I'm redoing my house's deck this summer and started by removing all the old boards with an 8-inch pry bar. These boards were nailed down, and the work was slow-going -- I spent several hours, over a couple weekends, toiling away, and until today still was only halfway done. The entire deck had hundreds of nails, and removing each one could take up to a minute or two.I was eager to move on to the construction phase, so a few days ago I looked for a tool that could pull out the nails faster. This Dead On Exhumer Nail Puller had excellent reviews, so I figured it was worth a try. What a difference! I powered through all the remaining nails this afternoon and even had time to mow my yard. This tool easily gripped each nail and provided excellent leverage; I could pound the tool into place with only 3 hits from a hammer and in most cases pull the nail free with only the tool itself. (In other cases, I loosened the nail with the tool and pulled it free the rest of the way with the back end of my hammer.) I was able to increase my speed and remove 3 to 4 nails a minute, blazing past my previous pace, and even started to enjoy the work. This tool isn't designed for more delicate projects, and I'll keep using my 8-inch Stanley pry bar for that. But if it definitely helped me out with my demolition duties. I was reminded of how the cast of "This Old House" always says the right tool can make a job much easier. I have some other demo projects planned on a rental house I own and now am looking forward to taking along this tool. 5although it's a bit to small to get good leverage on 4" nails I used this to extract hundreds of 4" deck nails from some decking I was taking down. It did the job, although it's a bit to small to get good leverage on 4" nails. I found the best way to remove them was use this tool to get the nail up about 1/2", then use a crowbar to remove it the rest of the way. It does do a little bit of damage to the wood around the nail, so be aware of this. 4A very nice solid tool A very good tool. This one lasted me two years of regular use before the claws were reamed out so far that it s no longer useful. The steel on the top and the backside of the head (the part you whack with a hammer) is all nicely rounded from thousands of hammer blows. The steel is soft enough to not shard yet hard enough to stand up too repeated use. 5It's one of my favorite and most versatile tools in my pouches It's one of my favorite and most versatile tools in my pouches. I've had it for about a year now and it's become one sexy, beat up piece of metal. Claws are still intact and grab nails with ease. It's seen some rough work, so pretty confident at this point in it's durability. It's a tool you can't live without and find more uses for all the time. 5
