Customer Reviews

When I did use the product it worked great, but while in use one time an audible ... Used on an infrequent basis. When I did use the product it worked great, but while in use one time an audible "pop" was heard, the spotlight stopped working, and smoke started rising from the unit. I was outside of the return period for Amazon so I decided to contact the manufacture and explain what happened. I got a one sentence response telling me that their is only a 90 day warranty on their products. For essentially a $90.00 flashlight I was expected much better customer service. Unfortunately it seems that this company is aware of the poor craftsmanship of their products, which would explain the 3 month warranty. Don't waste your money of this American company "Made in China" product. 1DO NOT BUY I bought this and recieved it broken, it wont charge! Tried to contact seller but there is no way, only thing you can find is "WE DONT ACCEPT RETURNS" IF I HAD KNOWN THAT UP FRONT, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT!!!!!! Buy at your own risk! if it does not work on arrival you are stuck with a 40 dollar flashlight. the only other thing they say is contact manufacturer, but they said that they have no control over what is bought on amazon, so your stuck like chuck, AVOID 1Bright, sturdy, light weight. This is significantly brighter than you would expect. We can see over a long distance and into the woods. The light is bright and clear and compared to other lights we had with the same lumens, this is definitely half the weight. It is very light, sturdy and quick to recharge. There is a low beam and a high beam and both work well. I like them because we have a large wooded area behind our house and there are many animals from deer to bear and foxes. I like being able to see them before I leave my deck.I am going to buy a second light so that we always have a backup. 5Buyer beware if Cyclops was manufactured over 3 months prior to your purchase I have one of these. Initially liked it but after 2 or 3 charges following the company's directions exactly, have found that it works just OK. Sometimes will charge fully, sometimes it balks and light goes out early. I initially bought a second unit for my son to use to walk his dog at night since there are many coyotes in area. He was called out of town so the new unit was stored in the original packaging for a few months. When he got back to town today, I plugged it in to charge the unit up. Its dead!! No light, no charge. Past the return period. Amazon did give me a link to contact Energizer. Will see how that goes. My advice, buy the 9-watt Cyclops CYC-9WS. The light is just as bright and I have had no problems with this unit. That's what I'm getting for my son.Just a follow up note. Amazon advised me to call Cyclops since I had bought the spotlight a while ago and it was past Amazons return period. I told the customer service rep that the CYC-500 wouldn't charge even though it's new and still in package. He said that the lights must be charged every 3 months or they will stop working. I said the light was never used or initially charged. He said it doesn't matter. I said where on outside of package does it say to charge unit immediately on purchase. Also, where on packaging does it give the date of manufacture and the expiration date. He would not respond. Just kept telling me they must be charged every 3 months. Apparently buyer beware if you buy one that's been on the shelf longer than 3 months. May account for folks who reported their spotlights failed to work properly. How does Cyclops know the retailer will sell an order in 3 months? Do they have retailers return unsold units 3 months after the date they were manufactured? But alas, Amazon knows how to run a business even if Cyclops does not. I called Amazon back and told them what Cyclops said. Was transferred to the unit that handles batteries and other such products. They agreed with my assessment and refunded my purchase amount. THANK YOU AMAZON. 1Sirius 500 Lumen Handheld Spotlight w/6 LED Lights - his Light Goes Blind Fast NOTE: Review is for the Sirius 500 Lumen Handheld Spotlight w/6 LED Lights (NOT FOR Klarheit LED 7 Inch 12V 25W 175mm Handheld Off Road Hunting Camping Fishing Super Strong Spot Light Lamp Beam - AMAZON MIXED UP THE ITEMS IN THE DESCRIPTION)Sirius worked great for about 3 months, during which time it was used maybe a half dozen times for up to 20 minutes at a time. Charged religously per manufacturers directions. Then, it started not holding a charge. From fully charged to dim in two weeks with NO use in that time. When charged now, sometimes very bright, sometimes, just mediocre.Wrote the manufacturers so-called 'Customer Service' Dept. explaining issue, noting it was out of warranty, but asking for any advice. Got a boilerplate form letter back telling me the light was out of warranty, and if I had any further questions, contact 'Customer service' again!!!!!!Tossed the light into the trash.Bought a Surefire 500 lumen LED flashlight, at double the price, but small and handy, and with a LIFETIME WARRANTY.It's great.Save your money, don't buy this junk, it will fail after a few months use, and you'll be stiffed by 'customer service at Cyclops. 1Both of my units have a tremendous illumination range of well beyond 500 ft (far superior to the ones they replaced) and no disc After buying the first one I bought a second. Followed instructions to charge the battery before use (I think that it probably is critical for the operation of the battery to do so) then used it to walk the dog. Both of my units have a tremendous illumination range of well beyond 500 ft (far superior to the ones they replaced) and no discernible reduction in output light for the about 15 minutes that I use them . Since I recharge them after each use I can't neither confirm nor refute the manufacturer claim that it can last 2 hours. I live in NYC burbs but I have a cabin upstate and I only use them in the flood mode (high power mode) because my neighbors are at a fair distance at both locations and I need to be aware of the wild life when I walk the dog at night. I presume that the 2 hour specification would be for the standard illumination mode but I would expect that they last at least 30 minutes at maximum output. Love the product and I will buy a third unit for my pick-up just in case I need to change a tire while driving to the country home at night. 5Research paid off I wanted a flood/spot light for work and picked up a Stanley rechargeable spot light at my local wholesale club. The brightness was fine but the battery life was atrocious. I decided to do a little research and get a better light and for the price, light output, battery life, and size this seemed like the best buy. I've had it for a few weeks now and I can say it does not disappoint. Battery life is great, we use this just about everyday and so far it hasn't run out of power between charges and we use it a good bit. The light output is fine, it has a brighter spot in the middle and then a larger ring of light that's much less brighter but still usable. I have much more expensive bicycle lights that put out more lumens and have just as long battery life, but they are small making them easy to drop or misplace. For work I want a big light that's easy to carry with a big grip and easy to find in the tool box or on the shelf and easy to set down and pick up quickly, it's just an added bonus that it's not all that expensive. It is heavier I guess due to the type of battery type, but it's still light enough to carry without really noticing - it's no anchor by any means. 5Lasted 2 years with very little usage I bought this 2 years ago, so don't expect any help from Amazon or the company. I loved how well it worked. I used it to light up the back yard as my dogs went outside at night, because we don't ever ever want another surprise visit from a skunk.I hardly ever had to charge it for those 2 years. The reason for the negative review is, that it can no longer be charged. I expect a light like this to last longer than 2 years. I've had lantern batteries last a very long time, maybe not 2 years on one battery, but probably one year. The little red light flickers when I attached the charge cord, as if it makes contact, but then goes out. I jiggle it as much as possible, no luck. I also tried not plugging it in all the way, trying to hit that sweet spot where the red light comes on. No go. Then I tried just plugging it in and letting it sit even though the red light didn't work. That didn't work either.2 stars because it's a very sturdy light, great illumination, but for the money and the amount of time I had to use it, I expected it to last longer. 2Very good light. This is my second one. I bought the first about 3 years ago and the battery quit charging. After I bought the new one I took the old one apart and wished I would have replaced the SLA battery in it. It has a battery with push on connectors and if you look around you can get one online for half the price of a new light. This is a very bright light and runs for about 6 hrs on a full charge on high setting. 5Holy Cow Batman! I have owned the 300 lumen Cyclops spot light. Had it for years, but my son had dropped it twice, and the second time it started to have issues with longevity. So I went out to get a new one and HOLY COW, this is much better. Will light up my entire back yard. Does not last as long as the 300 lumen, but I don't need it more than 20 min at a time. 5
