It may rough up the surface of the knob if it rubs against it.Also if you find that the knob isn't sitting flush against the door and/or the handle is sticking (not returning to center on it's own) take the handle off and rove the plastic insert from the side without the post. It should mountains flush now. Very happy with these.I bought a combination of bronze passage, entry and privacy knobs and they are uniform, look great, appear to have solid build quality and come with all the screws, latches and parts necessary.5
