    Good quality and range I hit branches with this on my NMO mount all the time and haven't jacked anything up yet. Handles well in the 80MPH highway. Has a loud profile though and can be audibly heard over 30 MPH. Running a 50W Yaesu I have excellent SWR and can hear clearly for miles. I have heard receivers over 50 miles away crackling through in the mountains. 5Just as pictured and brand new... Brand new, in the original package. Just as described in the ad. Well made. Was shipped in a cardboard tube and arrived early. Definitely would buy this again. 5Best of class Excellent sensitivity and great transmit with my mobile Yaesu. Works way better than a very similar Nagoya I tried first. 5Your moneys worth. Came tuned out of the box. Checked it with antenna analyzer. Does like a ground plane tho. Very satisfied. Noticeable gain. Bend over design tight but does not require tools. 5You can't go wrong with a Comet antenna, HT, Mobile, or Base I've had a Larson NMO 270 since the 90s but it's finally died on me, and while you can still purchase these today I've heard they aren't the same as the old ones, so I decided to look around and see what else was out there. I needed NMO mount, 39" maximum height to fit in my garage without touching the door, and there were a few options. This one looked the best so I went with it.It's a beast of an antenna, in build, appearance, and performance. It's jet black, very thick and sturdy. I liked how the coil on the Larson was very compact but that's not a big deal that this coil is taller. It performs terrific and has very low SWR. Measurements across 2M were under 1.3 to 1, 1:1 at 146mhz. 70cm seemed to be tuned more towards the 430's, I didn't bother to find 1:1, found it at 1.4 at 450, 1.3 at 446 and 1.2 at 440 so that's good enough for me. If I cared so much I could likely shorten the antenna slightly but there's really no reason, it's very well tuned out of the box. I like the spring loaded center conductor and everything is super solid and I imagine I'll get many years of service out of the antenna.For those curious, I'm using a Kenwood v71a mobile, trunk mount NMO, with (unfortunately) RG58 cabling. Kind of hard to find RG8X for these anymore, but it's also only 17 feet so the loss is pretty nominal in reality. 5Excellant Performer Installed it 10 inches from my tarr-heal 75A on a spare tire mount back of my Rav-4.3 Transmitted at 144.005 and 147.995 also 432.006 and 449.995. The swr meter in my FT-897 barely moved up scale at ends of band, no indication at all in middle of bands right out of the box it was shipped in. Hit a repeater I never worked from home almost 40 miles away on 2. A 70 cm machine almost the same distance is now full scale. Fantastic! 5Wonderful antenna Works great, easy to install on vehicle. 5It's a Half Wave antenna - Like any other Mine is mounted on my mountain bike. An NMO mount on an aluminum extension from the luggage rack and I'm bicycle mobile n0eq-5. The construction seems sturdy enough. The whip is not particularly "springy" which for bicycles, is a good thing. You don't want a springy whip "whipping" you in the back of the head while bouncing over trails. The "Tilt Over" feature is essentially impossible to work without tools. I had to mount it in a vise to get the thing pulled out far enough to fold. In RF terms it performs like EVERY other half wave antenna. Some hams seem confused about that. A half wave is a half wave is a half wave. No half wave "out performs" any other half wave. And EVERY 2m antenna is also resonant on 440 so they're ALL dual band. 4Awesome antenna! Kickass antenna. I'm using it for APRS with a 50w transmitter. It has no problem hitting those digipeters. I may get a second for voice com in the future. 5Wrong Connection Listed! NOT A PL-259 CONNECTOR!I bought this after I had all my coax cables run, expecting to get an antenna with a PL-259 end. What i received was an antenna with a NMO connection, not a huge deal but I ll have to buy a different coax cable and re-run everything over again. Antenna looks of high quality and solid, but I can t speak for is performance being I can t mount it on my vechile until I get the proper parts now... 3
