Customer Reviews

Simple, functional and easy to useI saw this on youtube, thought what a great idea for crown mounding, base and frames. Yes I leaves a mark from the point of the clamp, but a spot of filler for paint grade base or crown and your you good to go. I've use Gorilla glue, wet one side, glue the other, clamp while it sets, a finish nail (if) required and come away with excellent results. Wish I knew about this earlier.5Chomping good product Used them for 1st time on photo/phone/tablet stands. They worked well closing the mitered corners but do leave a small indentation (pin prick). Easy to use but my natural tendency was to widen too much to get a "good" bite and this probably lead to deeper than desired marks. 5Not a gimmick, they really work wellI've known of these for years. Seen other use them and though they were a gimmick. I finally tried them after reading a trusted online review. They really work well. Especially on thoughs outside corners that need glue set up time. I'm gonna try them with cyan-glue to speed things up. Not much of a learning curve. The set comes with the pliers and 4 spring clamps. On a bigger job I/you will need more then 4 springs. And yes I would buy again. HINT: use a hardware store $1.00 carabiner to keep all the spring clamps together in your bags/box.5Outstanding for gluing mitered cornersLove this clamp kit! I've been trying to join mitered corners for years with wood glue and tape or nails. Tape never held the pieces together tight enough and nailing before the wood was dry always caused the two pieces to shift and get out-of-line. These spring clamps are perfect! They hold the corners together tightly and securely. Wood glue cures perfectly and the seam is nice and tight. Then I nail the pieces together with no shifting or movement. The only downside is that the clamps have to dig-into the wood on each side where its clamping. However, no bigger than a nail hole and easy to patch when you get ready to paint. I'm 100% sold on these.5Brilliant Tool - No More Pin Nailing Miter JointsI wish I had discovered this absolutely clever miter clamping device years ago. It would have saved me a lot time doing crown molding and gluing up mitered corners in all sorts of wood working scenarios. It is so simple that it is brilliant. With crown molding, of course, you not only have to concentrate on the miter joint and how to close up any gaps, but you also have the added complication of multiple curves in the profile cut of the crown, Since this thing has only two very small points of contact, you are able to clamp it onto any curved surface on crown that makes sense. Of course the most logical place to clamp these is in the troughs of contour changes in crown, so you leave absolutely no marks on your finished crown. WOW. I absolutely love that. I am also using this on flat goods, doing baseboard outside corners and door jambs, without leaving any impressions or marks on the surface in those applications either. With this clamp, I can now glue up miters without the need for pin nailing at the corners to keep the miter in contact with each other while the wood glue sets up. I will be ordering extra springs now, so that I can speed up the process of holding multiple miters together at one time. Although I have not tried it, I suspect one could also do picture frames with using band clamps.5Believe me, this is a must have. This is my second set and bought them as a gift. My first set which I've had for a few years still sits in my toolbox. I glue all my outside miters and this keeps things nice and tight while I shoot in a brad. The glue makes the joint a little "slippery" so these make it a cinch. I keep these hidden from clients because they think my miters are awesome. I have my secret.5This is possibly the best tool that I have bought for working with mitre ... This is possibly the best tool that I have bought for working with mitre joints. I just finished adding trim to all the windows and doors in my home and this tool made achieving tight mitre joints so much easier - such a simple tool yet so effective. Its not cheap for what it is but the quality is there in its function and use.. I highly recommend this tool to all woodworkers. 5Great quality and tremendously speeds up installing outside corners with trim. These are a must have for assembling outside corners. They apply a lot of good clamping pressure till your glue sets up. They also tremendously speed up alignment of your joint. More notably with crown molding these clamps will hold your outside corners right where they need to be until you can nail off your crown. I also use these two pre-assemble crown molding on a table before installing on cabinetry. These will save you a lot of time and joints will come out crisper with less nail holes.5Like an extra set of hands for perfect miters!I used these to hold miters in place for window casement and baseboard trim. I was working alone and this allowed me to hold the corners tight while i nailed the boards in place.Regular clamps don't work on 90 degrees. I also liked that you could orient the clamp to work around low ceiling where trim is close to a wall or floor. The only negative is and I can not think of a better alternative (so I did not take off any stars) - the clamps have sharp points and dig in to hold. This leaves a tiny holes in the wood when the clamp is removed. I was able to fill this will white putty but for stained wood this might be more visible.Recommend this-perfect tool for this job.5Great product!!!! These are excellent tools to have for anyone that does miter glue ups. I bought mine to replace a set from another manufacturer and was first a little shocked at the size (They are slightly bigger than my last set). How ever my uncertainty was gone the first time I used them. Then held the pieces just enough I could get the joint just where I want it then add another one or two clamps to lock them in place to dry. When removed the clamps I was again surprised by how small the marks were from where the points dug in to hold the pieces. The holes were actually smaller that the average 18 gauge nail hole. Over all great product and I will be buying more clamps to use on my job as soon as I can. 5Decent valueI use these to keep my outside miters together on casing and crown while I nail them and the glue sets up. Pulls them together fairly well, leaving only a small mark (less than a brad nail) on the material. I would recommend several sets of the clamps if doing any sort of volume case work. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because I don't particularly like the feel/ergonomics of the pliers. They seem cheap in relation to the sturdiness of the clamps and overall the package seems a little overpriced when viewed in this light.4Simple and elegant solution for picture framing - at last! Finally, a picture framing clamp that worked, hallelujah!!! I have bought pony clamps, adjustable clamps, rachet clamps, Dewalt and Irwin clamps, and none worked well on picture frames. Well this one did. Finally. You MUST GET THE PLIERS, SO TRY TO BUY THEM TOGETHER. Spring is so hard to press apart (has to be this way to work), that without hands like a lumberjack or mountain climber, you will be looking through your whole garage to find something to pry them apart. I used my Knipex pliers but it was a workaround solution that took longer. Get the pliers set with these clamps. It won't hurt to get two sets of 4 clamps to do one picture frame. If your frame is wide, or curves inwards, it helps to set 4 clamps on top, and 4 at bottom of each mitered corner to glue evenly and get maximum pressure.Elegant and simple solution. Glue your frame corners all at once with Titebond 3 glue. Don't worry about glue seepage, cleans up easy during and after. Use pliers to pinch one corner together. Then do the opposite corner by itself. Then the other two. Use damp cloth to wipe excess glue off the front of frame.Flip frame face down, and clamp the bottom too if you can. If frame is curved you need to do this. If frame lies flat on ground, you won't need to. Clean other side of glue, or let dry and use sharp chisel to scrape off.5This will get outside miters where you want them.Use these for Crown Moulding. For what they are, they re very useful.Enough pressure for a tight outside miter but you can still steer the profiles for a good match.I liked the needle end of the springs instead of the gouge from C shaped ones. The one small improvement could be a spring to retract the jaws of the plier, but I used the rubber band that it was packaged with for that.Extra star for Made in USA...5Earns its keep in my finish bag Received the pliers/4 springs pack, and 12 pack of springs in 2 days as prime guarantees. The springs are nice and sharp and hold my work without excessive marks or marring. I use them primarily for installing baseboard and the little pin point marks don't require putty before paint. The really work and are well worth the cost. It's a must have tool - for me. One small thing - The pliers aren't the ones represented in the image. The image shows pliers with rolled handles, which is what I was hoping for. In fact, I ordered this item over similar items because their image showed the rolled handle pliers, rather than the flat stamped handles shown in other sellers images. What arrived are the that handled pliers. Because the springs don't require much pressure to open, the flat handles don't dig into my palm. It's not the most comfortable handle, but it works. I imaging I could build up the handles with some pipe foam or slip on a couple pieces of tubing Would this keep me from buying it again? No. It's still a simple yet highly effective tool and has earned a permanent place in my finish bag. 5
