    Kind of heavy I always wondered what a full tang (rather than rat tail tang) modern K-Bar would be like. This thing is heavy for its size, and the weightis more in the handle. At least that's what it feels like. But the price was really good for D2 and I like the Sheath. 4Another Cold Steel hit Got this Leatherneck several days ago. Adding to my growing collection of Cold Steel knives. I have a Kabar and it is a great knife. But I think Cold Steel added some refinements to this historic masterpiece. Love the grip. The shape and material ensure a firm grip. Blade steel is D2. A very good steel, also used by Benchmade. Nice sheath as well. So overall this is a very good solid knife. Highly recommend. This knife ain't for bushcraft, if you know what I mean. 5Cold Steel A very well made knife. Nice balance and sharp as can be right out of the box. A quality piece. Extremely pleased with having boughten it. 5A Beefed Up D2 Steel Interpretation Of The Old Marine Fighting Knife The grinds are even, and the dark coating was evenly applied. The synthetic grip material is comfortable and practical, and finishes with a solid steel end cap. I've read some reviews that describe this knife as "heavy", but it appears to be on par with most of my full tang fixed blade knives. It has a solid feel to it, and all of my friends who have played around with it gave it positive reviews. The steel is labeled as German D2, and the knife is manufactured in Taiwan.The blade comes "liberally" greased from the factory, and the edge is very sharp. The blade length on this knife is a little under 7 inches long. This is a full tang knife, and it has a useful point which seems durable enough. Overall, I would say that this knife is more robust than the original Marine Kbars that I've played around with, and has better steel. I'll post more later, after I take it out into the bush. 5I would buy again! What an amazing knife! This is exactly what I was wanting and more. The balance is great. The handle material is not hard like a rock like I was expecting; instead it's feeling like a very strong rubber. The sharpness is razor. The blade is full flat grind. From researching before I even bought the knife, I already know the German D2 steel is excellent, and it's exactly what I was wanting. I'm very satisfied with my purchase! 5Came lubed up worse than anal beads but otherwise all good I love Cold Steel products. I just want to preface this by letting you know I buy their products on a regular basis from clubs to swords to knives, I ve always been pleased with the quality. But today when my k-bar arrived and I pulled it out of the plastic sheath and the blade (which will usually have a thin coat of oil for the blades quality) was SMOTHERED in oil. It was caked up on the blade. Now after some hurried cleaning everything s in beautiful working order but was just a little sad the way it came greased up like a hog. Other than that really great also got a custom leather sheath for it that fits it perfectly! 3Nice but stamped Taiwan Nice Cold Steel Nice sheath. Made in Taiwan nooooo!! 5the guard is thick and sturdy / fits in sheath tight without every using it yet i cant give it a 5 , but just by looking it over i say its potentially a 5 as its very well made . everythings tight . the guard is thick and sturdy / fits in sheath tight . very grippable handle for my medium male hands . butt cap on tight and has heft to it . and the knife in terms of weight is at a perfect place for a tatical knife where its heavy enough to be used in a rugged manner for stabbing into dense objects or prying , while not being too heavy to be used as a self defense weapon . the blades thick enough for this tactical role , and the wider than most other enclosed tangs at 13/16ths of an inch gives me confidence in it under heavy abuse . ive bought alot of sub 100$ fixed blades from becker to ontario to rat to boker to schrade to sog etc and this might be the best out of all of them if it stands up to abuse . but in closing i add that everybodys hands are different and i also dont wear gloves , and for my medium male hands this has a great grip making this knife an excellent tool for me . but ive had many very well made knives such as ontario rat 7 whose handles too big and blocky for my hand size so i didnt like the knife . and maybe this coldsteel rubber handle doesnt hold up under abuse like a rat 7 micarta would , so its always tricky buying knives without handling first . but initial impression is coldsteel made another excellent knife to maybe match their great folder in the large voyager clip point knife that ive carried for years . thats all i got for now , though i add knifes also tightly held in the sheath . 4D2 perfection!! I love this knife!! I see a lot of comparisons to the K Bar or the Ontario iterations of this knife. I don't want to do that because I think all three have various characteristics that differ from each other and make them unique and all three have different reasons why like each of them. Having said that I will say I carry this knife more than any of the other ones. It is heavier with a thicker Tang. I also absolutely love the D2 steel sharpens very quickly and this knife is tough as nails!! I am adding a picture of the tang of the Leatherneck compared to the K Bar and the Ontario simply to show size differences. 5
