Customer Reviews

Panel split and magnets fell off.Noticed things weren't sounding right so decided to look into it. Notice the front panel that holds all the speakers is separating, then took the speakers out because the box felt unbalanced, then saw 2 of the magnets were off and sitting on one side. Would not buy again, only lasted about 6 months.1Just buy 'emI bought a pair of these and quite pleased with the purchase. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on these. Save yourself that effort and just buy 'em. The sound is very clear and can handle all the juice my receiver can supply. No need for a sub-woofer either.5Good, solid centerVery solid product from a pretty well known manufacturer of speakers. Running this as a center to my Onkyo 656 receiver, with 2 NHT 2.5 towers as my fronts. Sound is pretty "boomy" even with adjusting crossover from 40hz to full. Voices sound like they are coming out of a box, and never really reach that natural sound that I expect, like someone sitting in my living room. Most of the time, the clarity is there...especially during commercials! For the price, this is a pretty good buy, replaced my little 2 speaker KLH and definitely was a step up...but then again, I had only paid $22 for my KLH. Probably for a audio purist, this speaker would not cut it, but for the rest of us with average human hearing, they are pretty good. Just wish the voice clarity was better.3Only Cerwin Vega for meMy first pair were U351s back in 1982. I still own/use them. These are my latest of 5 pair. I use these with a topping TP23 amp for my computer desk for now. Awesome for movies, computer games, No sub needed, AT ALL. Weakest with Orchestra music which is best heard on speakers sealed enclosures with large woofers. They sound good with everything, but great with Rock, Games, and movies.4Wow. Get the SL-15's now. This review is for the SL-15. If you're on the fence about tower speakers, just know this: there is no replacement for displacement. These tower speakers are simply amazing. Make no mistake, they are large and heavy, but that's exactly what you want in a tower speaker. I've tried the new "modern" tower speakers with smaller footprints with several 6.5" drivers vs. two 8" drivers and nothing compares to having a solid 15" woofer like these have. All I can say is wow. I would consider myself an audiophile and using these speakers driven by my simple 80w x2 RMS Yamaha receiver are enough to fill a 20'x20' room with full sound and dare I say sound better than any Klipsch setup I've ever heard. The full range is so awesome that I even shut off my powered sub, it's unnecessary now. These things are amazing.5Great sounding speaker, but be sure it'll physically fit your setup before you buyHow to say this? This CV center channel speaker sounds fantastic but is easily twice as large as I thought it would be. I bought it to replace a failing old Boston Acoustics cheap center channel, but seriously you'll need a fairly large space in your AV cabinet. Or in my case, the little shelf above the TV which had had the BA speaker before is going to need some refitting before I feel totally safe with the new unit. I should've looked at the product dimensions; it's 6.5" high, 7.5" deep, and 27.5" long, and weighs about 20 lbs.The original shelf is holding, but I ain't comfortable with the noticeable sag. If you have your TV on top of an AV cabinet, no, the SL45C will not fit in front of it like most standard soundbars will. I ended up ordering some Polk center speaker wall mounts and will put those up as soon as I receive them.Setting aside the "holy crap, this speaker is huger than I thought it'd be" issue, I have zero complaints about the sound. It's crisp, has excellent range, and made my Dolby Digital/Surround/Atmos audio rendering issues go bye-bye. Sound at both high and low volume is good, too, and impressed with vocal quality. I also pipe music audio through the receiver from my computer via Airplay, and the difference is remarkable.Would I buy again? Perhaps, although obviously I might've gone with a smaller model.5PerfectLove the sound and build quality of the Cerwin Vega speakers I have purchased the 4 5.25 center and added the Sl-15 speakers with over 100 hrs now running through all my speakers I'm ready for a set of 5.25 2 ways for a rear high in a 5.2.4 configuration. Note i did pick up a set of 3 way RE-25 used for my lower rear channel. and so far i'm loving the sound quality of my system in movies, music and live music. I'm running the Onkyo 9.2 system rated at 120 watts a channel at 8 ohms. I will update as I replace speakers in my channels, but my goal at this point is to build a Cerwin Vega total speaker system. I have owned the AT-15's in the early 90's and can't seem to find that same quality and sound I loved for these speakers Until now.Update, I just picked up the 5.25 inch 2 way bookshelf speakers and have been running them for about a 2 weeks on my upper rear channel and i'm gonna replace my upper front channel with these as well love the crisp sounds of the highs in these speaker.Update;: As most Cerwin Vega's will produce massive base crank up your highs bump the mids to your liking and leave your bass flat. As far as the center set your crossover point at or about 120 htz. if running the bookshelf speakers run the crossover at about 80 Htz, and the fronts 10's 12's and 15's at full range. if running a sub choke these down to about 80 Htz to keep the voices out of the subs .5Cerwin Vega Never DisappointsI'm a Cerwin Vega fan from long ago and decided to begin upgrading my home theater speakers with Cerwin Vega. As expected, the sound is very crisp and if you need the bass, it's there full stop, even in these small speakers. Note that they are pretty heavy for small bookshelf speakers. I've recently ordered the Cerwin Vega central speaker . . .5Exceptional sound clarity just as you'd expect from Cerwin VegaI replaced my old center channel speaker a year or so back with the CV center channel and finally upgraded the front speakers with these... wish I hadn't waited so long. These little speakers put out so much sound and with such clarity, I had no idea how much I was missing with my old speakers.5If your dull surround setup needs a refresh, start here.SL-45C was purchased to replace a Sony center channel that had no business being in my setup to begin with. I owned CV floor standing speakers 20 years ago, so I knew what to expect. Well, for the current price being under $140, pre-usage opinion tells me this is a winner considering the 100W sad excuse of a center I'm replacing. Package showed up on time, in 1 piece, and was hooked up before porch pirates seized the moment. The sound from the CV SL-45C is the missing piece to my 9.3 setup. The .3 is the 3 subs I have in the otherwise 9.2 configuration. The goal here is to show the lads in my area that their car audio may wake me up at night, but my home audio setup will wake the dead. Achieved! This center channel speaker is great if your looking for a big, eye catching conversation starter. I recommend waiting until someone asks about it, answer with your favorite song, then watch this sell its self.5
