Customer Reviews

Better than Smartthings and I love SmartthingsI have about 20 Smarthings motion detectors, 10 Centralite motion detectors, and 40 Smartthings devices. The Centralite motion detectors respond much faster than those from Smartthings and pick up motion much better. I'm switching over to Centralite now. I have found Zigbee to be a far superior system to G-wave for devices because they can bind to the hub without being within 10 feet of the hub and the Zigbee devices always make a network with each other whereas Z-wave devices only mesh with each other when you do it manually from your hub's program. These are Zigbee devices so they connect much better to my system than G-wave. BTW, I think that these don't relay the hub's signals to other meshed devices but these battery powered devices do connect to your hub through the mesh that is made by the hard wired devices.5Small sensor with easy smartthings integrationI paired it with SmartThings easily - it found the device right away and the device handler is built in. This is one of the smallest SmartThings-compatible window sensors available, which is what I needed for my window to hide it behind a shade. I was even able to mount it on a double hung window by removing the magnet from its enclosure so that the sensor trips regardless of which way the window opens. Great product!5Great alternative to smartthings sensor.I have motion sensors all over my house. When I go to someone else's house, I get mildly offended that lights don't just turn on everywhere I go :-) I really appreciate this sensor as a replacement for gen1 smartthings sensors because the new ones made by smartthings have a very limited range and I find I need to buy 2 or 3 to have the same coverage as their original. Thankfully I tried this one, and it has a nice range and sensitivity, my pets need light too :-)5Works with Xfinity HomeI'm an Xfinity Home Technician and I purchased two of these modules to work with Xfinity Home, these appliance modules are the same as the ones that Comcast sells, I purchased them here because the price is less than with my employee discount. Paring is the same exact process as the ones from Xfinity. One thing I do see customer do is plug the appliance or lamp in the front outlet that say "Always On" needless to say that outlet doesn't control the device plug into it, it's the plug on the bottom of the module that is used turn things on and off. Just to let you know Centralite did not ask me to write this review they do not even know who I am. I'm a person that shops on Amazon just like you but I also happens to be an Xfinity Home Tech that wanted to buy a couple lamp modules. These modules I'm familiar with and knew they would work with Xfinity Home.5A very expensive night light and not much elseI had big hopes for this product when I read the description and it was zigbee compatible, mentioned it had millions of colors, dimmable, etc... sounded almost too good to be true and it certainly was.Ok, yes it is zigbee compatible, but when it connects with Smartthings it only shows up as a "thing" and you have to go into the Smartthings IDE and change the type to "Zigbee light dimmer", not a big deal, but had to google that to find out. As for millions of colors, I have found 5 so far and you can only change colors manually by touching the device, not in the app, a real let down as I wanted to program it to change to various colors based on different motion sensors around my home, cannot do that. Can only change colors by tapping the light itself. So for $50 I have a very expensive night light that although I can get it to go on and off with motion sensors around my house, I can do that with any $10 motion sensing night light out there.2Great motion sensor for home automationI am using this with a Wink Hub 2. It paired easily and gives me temperature and motion detection. I put this in my garage - my kids leave the garage light on all the time. I am using a GE Z-Wave smart switch for the light switch. The Centralite motion sensor is installed on the wall - now if someone is in the garage, the light comes on automatically. Even better, I created a Wink robot to turn the light off if it doesn't detect motion within 3 minutes (robot lets you configure the timeout to just about whatever you would like). This works well. The temperature sensor works on the device, but I'm not sure how I will use it yet in my garage. I don't plan on heating the garage - could have another smart switch that turns a heater on if the temperature falls below a certain threshold I suppose. Might be interesting to use in other places in the house - maybe the basement? For my use, this works great and I will probably by a few more to help with my home automation mission. They are pretty small (1.5"x1.5" as a guess?) - easy to hide around your house.5Works great with SmartThingsI'm using the webCoRE rule engine, Centralite temp/humidity sensor, and a zwave outlet to turn my dehumidifier on/off. The temp and humidity readings seem to be fairly accurate.5Pairs With SmartThings and Alerts Are AccurateI purchased this product because I wanted something to monitor my sump pump for failures and notify me if my sump pump failed and the water level was rising. I have a water backup sump pump in case my primary sump pump fails, but I wanted something to notify me if the primary failed, so my water bill wouldn't be crazy high. This integrated into my "SmartThings" perfectly and sends alerts soon as it detects water. My internet and SmartThings are on a battery backup system, so if the power does go out I will not that my sump pump isn't working as well.I included some pictures on how I modified this to work for a sump pump. This device on its own works perfect for setting it on the floor or under a sink, but you don't want to submerge it underwater. You will see in the pictures I soldered some wire to the leads and put this section into the sump pump. I zip tied the sensor above the sump pump to some of the drainage piping. I used two splice connectors to the ends going into the water to prevent the wires from somehow accidentally touching and sending a signal. When the water rises and submerges both splice connectors the connection is bridged and the alert is sent.5Works with Smartthings, with some config necessary. After a week of having this plugged into a set of LED lights behind my entertainment center, they have worked flawlessly. The most annoying part was pairing them with Smartthings, however this was on their end, not a problem of the plug. After adding the device like normal, you need to log into the Smartthings IDE settings and manually change the device type to Zigbee Switch. After that it works perfectly. The Smartthings forums and community have lots of info on how to do this if you're new to the Smartthings community. Welcome to Smartthings and welcome to the Smart Home Lifestyle. All in all, I would recommend this plug.5False Positives, Too Sensitive, Ignored by Customer Support, Poor integration with Smartthings,Beware the positive reviews! Might be dishonest! After almost a year of using it, I have already contacted the customer support via email about how it is triggering a lot of false positives, too much for comfort. I even provided a lot of data including screenshots proving that the false alarms were true. They finally ignored all my emails for months. This product also does not integrate well with Samsung Smartthings, it would regularly go inactive on the sensor list, hard to reactivate them. No warranty provided meaning they know their devices are faulty and don't want to deal with returns. Stay away! At least from their motion sensors!1
