Customer Reviews

Exactly what I wanted! I ordered this adapter for my NexStar Evolution and Sony Alpha SLT. On my old AstroMaster scope, I would attach the camera to a barlow lens & T-Ring. On the SCT scopes, it attaches directly to the rear of the optical tube. (And very solidly, I may add.) My existing aluminum T-Ring went on smoothly. I struggled a little in the dark while attaching the T-adapter to the rear threads on the scope, but it eventually grabbed hold. Due to the accuracy of the NexStar, it was no problem aiming at objects. I can't wait to try this out on other objects besides the moon, but so far, I am very pleased! 5Solid connection, less vignetting Holds my Nikon D5300 firmly to the rear cell of my Schmidt-Cassegrain. The larger tube (as opposed to a 1.25" barrel) vastly reduces the vignetting I was seeing. It's also a much more stable connection than the two friction screws that held in my 1.25" adapter previously. 5Rock Solid Alternative to Eyepiece Adapter I had a t-adapter for my Meade EXT. The problem was that it was too long for my newly acquired used C8. I could do prime focus photography using an eyepiece adapter, but that seemed flimsy, marginal at best. The camera is not balanced around its optical axis and the star diagonal eyepiece holder also has a mechanical lever arm. The whole lash-up is precarious. This is rock solid. 4Hook your camera to your scope. This connects instead of the visual back on your Celestron (or many other brands) telescope. Combined with the proper T adapter for your camera, it allows you to easily connect the camera to the back of the telescope in place of an eyepiece for either astro photography or extreme telephoto photography of things like wildlife. For example, with my Celestron Nexstar 6 SE scope, this gives me 50 power at F6 with any camera using an APS-C sensor. On my AstroTech 66mm refractor it gives me 20x. This unit, which threads right onto the back of the scope, gives a much solider connection than the style which connects like an eyepiece. 5I guess I got a really bad one... A total piece of crap. The male threads were a mess, so rough that it would not thread into a T ring. I had to spend about 15 minutes with a thread file to clean them up. The female threads in the rear cell ring were worse. They would thread about two turns and stop dead. Some measuring revealed they had been cut with a taper of about 15 thousandths.. very sloppy. I had to chuck the ring up in my lathe and chase them. So, if you have an hour to kill and like turning internal threads on your lathe, then this will make a nice project for you. 1Performs Just As Intended I purchased this thread-in T-Adapter for my Celestron 6-inch SCT so that my Canon DSLR body would be better secured to the telescope. Previously I was using a T-Adapter that was inserted into the eyepiece holder and secured by tightening two small lock screws. This was a very scary way to attach the camera and I experienced nightmares concerning my camera slipping out and smashing apart after hitting the ground. This thread base adapter does a fine job securely securing the camera and allowing perpendicular alignment with the incoming light path from the telescope. 5The perfect solution. Sturdy adapter for my Canon T6. Fits snug and does not allow even the slightest movement of my camera when it is attached to my C6. Quality metal construction. No cross thread issues. Should bring huge improvement to my shooting. 5Good adapter for my telescopes Not too expensive but good adapter for Large Celestron and Small Meade Schmidt telescopes. Got used DSLR and always wanted to take pictures with the telescopes, this was an inexpensive chance to do it, also needed a Cannon adapter. First use was at night, could not get it to work and was disappointed. I realized a night there isn't much to focus on at night, so I set the focus at maybe a 1/4 mile object during the day which got me close. Then at night the moon was easy to find and needed minimal focusing, played with the manual camera settings and got good moon pictures with the small scope, will try the large scope later. 5The one I received was defective but I can not ... The one I received was defective but I can not visually determine why. The adapter comes in two pieces, the part that makes contact with your camera and the ring that connects it to your scope. The threads on the ring are not right at all. I can barely get the thing to screw on even half a turn which is hardly acceptable to attach an expensive camera. I found a simple fix however which was to use the ring that is part of any 1.25" visual back in place of the defective ring that came with the adapter. Since this adapter is used in place of a visual back it is likely that anyone will have what is necessary to use the T adapter if they get a defective ring. I in no way place blame on Adorama Camera since this is a Celestron product. Coincidentally the ring I used to fix the issue is from a Celestron visual back. Adorama Camera offered to replace the T adapter but as I would have to send the defective one back I would be out the use of the product until the new one arrived with the very real chance that it might also be defective. I chose to simply continue swapping the ring between visual back and T adapter. 2Good quality, metal construction Exactly as it says, a T-adapter to allow connection of a DSLR with a Celestron telescope. Good quality, metal construction. Be careful with the threads, they could be easily damaged if forced. 4
