Works well and looks great!This was originally a little fiddly to get attached to my iMac, so i ended up actually laying the iMac screen-down on the table so I could get a better look at where I was working and that really helped get the hub attached solidly. Once attached, it does really look good and streamlined with the rest of the computer. I like that there is one less thing sitting on the desk under the monitor.It has not fallen off or disconnected itself, and although I am probably a little gentler when pulling the cables out of it, it doesn't seem delicate or anything. It does have enough juice to charge an iPhone or iPod when connected, but doesn't seem to do much for the GPS unit, etc. The memory card slots are something I didn't think I cared about, but they are nice to have there in front for easy access, and I no longer need to use the weird memory card stick thing that only worked half the time.Overall, I am quite pleased with this USB hub and glad I took the time to look around before just grabbing one of the standard desktop types.5Great design..solves iMac's biggest pain point.This is exactly what i was looking for.. it was a pain to connect a USB drive or a external HDD to my iMac. This USB 3.0 HUB provides USB access from the rear to the front with a clean efficient look and solves my problem.Once installed properly it attaches securely to the iMac just make sure the little tabs on top of the USB ports go inside the iMac vents located on the bottom edge of the display.This USB 3.0 HUB from Cateck adds 4 USB 3.0 ports to the front side of your iMac. There is no more need to twist cables to get to the ports vertically. The design of this USB hub matches perfectly to my iMac.This USB 3.0 hub comes with the option of using a external power adapter which is not included.. i had one from my old USB 3.0 hub that worked with this. I was a bit worried that the screws in the picture actually rest or just tension against the case of the iMac but this isn't the case (pun intended) and instead they seem to 'angle' the fingers such that it secures it to the guts of the system which makes for a very sturdy connection.I was also worried that transfer rates wouldn't be 'actually' USB 3.0 but I can confirm that it reaches 200+ MB/s on my sandisk extreme.The color is a convincing match for the case, being plastic the texture is a bit off which is really the only 'complaint' I have about this hub. I would have paid more for a metal case but this is a very small gripe as it's well made otherwise.Another wish? A smaller cable. It's about 2' long, I suppose if you wanted to put it all the way on the left side of your mac this might make sense, but I suspect the 90 percentile of people put it on the right side, so a smaller cable would have been tidier.I don't normally give 5 star reviews, I feel 5/5 is something that needs to really exceed expectations, but I can also say that Cateck has certainly exceeded my expectations here for $15. It's perhaps not as 'clean' a design compared to the sabrent, but it is more versatile, less expensive, attaches more securely and genuinely reaches USB 3.0 speeds.5Sturdy 4-hub mount - works well with the power plugJust got this little gadget and installed it. You need to lift the iMac screen from the bottom a bit and wonky-in the tabs. Once in, I used a bit of a twist with some pliers to get the little screw heads to tighten. But, now, it's solid and looks like I can plug in and out - even with a little gusto. This 4-hub will work. I got the power plug to ensure everything gets enough juice. I plugged in my iPhone and the upload of a dozen images was a flash quick.I recommend it. Works well, once I found out what holes it wanted to be stabilized on. Wish now that I'd got the one with the SD card plug too so no more walks around to the back of the iMac - what a stupid design that one was! If you have the option - get the SD card hole with the 3 USB ports.Oh, I bought 2 sets so both iMacs sport this front loader.5This HUB is crap!DO NOT BUY! It took awhile to figure out how to mount it. I removed it once, during a move, and it would no longer tighten onto the iMac. Also, I had my mouse connected to it and it would just decided to stop working. Avoid this POS, good idea bad implementation. :(See my attached picture, I wrote my review with a hammer!1Perfect addition to your 5k iMac, no more turning to access ports!Works great with my 5k iMac. Blends in nicely withe the aluminum finish and works well so far. I really like not having to carefully turn my iMac to access the USB ports and SD slot and that it also adds micro SD slot!. I do wish the cord were a bit longer so I could place it in the center for a more balanced look/feel.5Caution! This blocks the flow of air in your iMac and can heat things upI mounted this as directed. It clips to the bottom of the computer where the air vents are. I started to notice my computer getting hot to the touch in the center. I went to blow the dust out and realized that 1/4 of the openings are blocked by this hub. I run my iMac with max upgraded ram so I need all the cooling that I can get. I took it off so now it just dangles from the back.1Useful for an iMac 2017I have been using this on my iMac 27 inch 2017 to move the sdcard slot and USB slots to the front side. It gave me more connectivity options.Pro:1. I can plug in sdcards, thumb drives without moving the display.2. My dymo labeler can fit side-by-side with usb flash drives.Con:1. Sometimes the connection between the audio slots where it slides in loosens, and I have to re-screw it in to tighten the connection.2. Sometimes usb backup drives drop off the bus. I suspect there is not enough power to service more than one device at a time, if it requires more power.4Looks good and fits well, but....I'm giving this product 4 stars for one reason: I can't daisy-chain a third device to it through a second device; I have to connect to the hub directly. Whenever I try the former, I receive a "USB Accessory Needs Power" message. I'll explain. I have a wired keyboard that itself has 2 USB ports. It is now connected to the 3-Port USB Hub. When I connect my phone or a memory stick to the keyboard, I receive the aforementioned message. I have to connect directly to the hub, essentially rendering my keyboard USB ports useless. I had no idea that this would be a problem. Additionally, everyone should know that, if you are going to connect your phone to the hub in order to charge it, the power transmission will be quite weak as compared to an AC outlet connection. I expected a weaker charge through the hub, but not as weak as what I've seen. You'd be better off charging your phone through an AC power socket. At any rate, if you connect to the hub, you're still good to go. It's a nice addition to my computer. It's attractive and compact, so it's not an eyesore. All in all, my only complaint is the lack of power transmission through a daisy-chain setup.4Definitely recommendI'm going to give it five stars for now, as it's only been connected for about 10 minutes. Using on a late 2015 27" iMac 5k. Installation was a breeze. It does indeed charge my iPhone and my iPad shows that it is charging as well, but we'll see how long it takes. It looks great because it's so thin and the aluminum color match is pretty darn close. Unintrusive and sleek.5
