Customer Reviews

Good hose but mine is starting to split after about ...Good hose but mine is starting to split after about 6 months. No air leaks but about a half inch split in the outside layer. I would say I have put it through moderate use over a concrete floor. If you need something to use on a daily basis in rougher conditions I would look elsewhere. If you need a cost effective light duty hose give this one a shot.3JunkHORRIBLE - started to use for the very first time to inflate a trailer tire. Hose popped before the first tire was done.1Defective; spend a few $ more for a better productZero stars. Purchased this pneumatic hose from Amazon along with a Bostitch pancake compressor and some hose fittings. The compressor is great: it is a lot lighter than my old Porter Cable and supplies plenty of air for my finish and brad nail guns. Fittings were okay; nothing special, but usable. The Campbell-Hausfeld hose was a piece of junk. After installing the appropriate end fittings, I hooked it up to the compressor and nail gun and started to pressurize the hose. The very loud hissing sound made it clear that something was awry. I traced the sound to a section of the hose where air was leaking madly. Shut things down and removed the hose and examined the hose section. Found a pinhole defect in the hose shown in the attached close up photo (taken through a 7x microscope objective (applied some Snoop liquid leak detector to confirm that the hole was the source of the leak). Unfortunately, I missed the window for return of the defective item, so it went into the trash. I made the mistake of purchasing it for light-duty work since it was amazingly cheap--less than $9. You do get what you pay for. Ran down to the local Grainger store and bought a better hose that works fine. FYI, the C-H hose is soft and flimsy and, apparently, quality control is poor. Don't waste your money on this item.1Check to make sure fittingss are crimped in the hose before using!!!The hose and fittings seems to be good quality but when I received the it came with fittings with sleeves that were supposed to be crimped to hold and seal the fittings in the hose. After opening the box the fittings fell out of the hose as the sleeves were not crimped at all. A little aggravating to say the least. I will find a way to crimp the sleeves myself as it is too much trouble to send it back and wait on a replacement. I would have given this hose high marks if not for this.2Stinks I don't know what this hose if made from but it really smells bad. I'm using indoors and the smell is (was) overwhelming. I left it outside for 4 weeks and that seems to have resolved the smell problem. Beyond that, the hose will not lay flat and always has a curl to it - kind of a tripping hazard. I guess i got what i paid for. 3Low cost, lightweight water hose? Why not! :)My search for an inexpensive, lightweight "watering" hose found this. Yes, I know this is an air hose, but I figure if it can withstand the air pressure + the oil & water that a compressor pushes thru these hoses, what's a little water at 80 psi?The pros:+ Low cost of $9.99 with Amazon free shipping. I see this hose is going for $8.99 now, an even a better deal!+ Pretty flexible.+ Nice blue color.+ The brass 1/4" NPT male fittings look to be solidly crimped on.+ Advertised - Reinforced PVC hose.+ Advertised - Oil & abrasion resistant.+ Advertised - 3/8" x 25' long.+ Advertised - Working pressure of 200 PSI. The hose I received is labeled 300 PSI working pressure.+ Advertised - Brass 1/4" NPT male fitting at each end.+ Advertised - One year warranty. The cons:- No fittings included, other than what's crimped on, you have to provide your own.- Made in China. Not entirely a bad thing, but some may prefer made in USA.Closing remarks: With the correct fittings, this low cost air hose can be used as a light weight watering hose. :) This air hose construction is reinforced PVC with brass 1/4" NPT male fittings, so nothing to rust. Odds are good the brass fitting on this hose are NOT lead free, so the water passing thru this lightweight water hose should not be used for potable water. Update - May 19, 2016 I used this lightweight water hose today & I have to say it exceeded my expectations! It was noticeably lighter, but the water flow appeared to be as it was when I was using a standard 1/2" garden hose. :) The plan now is to make another lightweight watering hose in a 50' length. The holdup is the cost of the 2 brass fittings, which have doubled in price! :( Update - June 23, 2016 I just made another "lightweight" watering hose using a 50' hose this time. I really like the watering hose I previously made with a 25' hose & I've been waiting for the 1/4" NPT female to 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread) to drop back to a reasonable price. They did & now I have a 50' "lightweight" watering hose for my backyard raised bed garden! The water flow is slightly less, but not an issue for my use. The reduced weight of the hose is VERY noticeable, as is the maneuverability of the smaller diameter hose! Update - June 8, 2018 I decided to buy another 25' hose, again to be used as a water hose. This hose was slightly different then the previous hoses I bought. It's much softer & very flexible. Even better, this one cost $7.99 with free Amazon shipping! The attached pictures show my finished lightweight watering hose. I used two 1/4" NPT female to 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread) male brass fittings & added quick connect hose fittings. The black heat shrink tubing is used to cover the brass & to provide a bit more hose to fitting strain relief... plus it looks better! :)5Thin, hard, and kinks. Does an acceptable job for the price you're paying. This is an obviously cheap hose. The walls of the hose are very thin and it has a tendency to kink. In the cold, it gets stiff as a board. These are all qualities my last hose (which felt thicker and softer and didn't kink) didn't have. That being said, for the price it does its job and the tendency to kink is not so bad that I regret buying it. Just know that if you have a rubber stopper on the end of your existing hose, its hole will likely be too big to fit tightly on this hose since it is noticeably thinner than a normal 3/8 hose. 4Good for occasional use when you need a little bit more reach.I purchased two of these hoses in September 2016, I am writing this review in January 2020. These are no longer my primary air compressor hoses, I still occasionally use them when I need longer reach. I would say the best thing these have going for them is how lightweight they are, that is also one of their problems. These hoses kink easily and get damaged in the places where they kink tightly. Also these are not at all flexible in cold weather.3Looked good, flexible Looked good, flexible, nice, seemed to be of good quality, I think the manufacturer lacks quality control, the reason I say that is when I tried it after installing the quick disconnect, there was barely any air coming out, found that the hole in one fitting is almost non existent, smaller than 1/32nd ID the other was 1/8. Had to drill it out, which fixed the problem. 2Failed almost right away, total garbage!!!!This hose lasted maybe an hour. Came with a pin hole in the side and after an hour or so of use it started to delaminate. Then it burst a big hole along he side. Total garbage. Unfortunately I bought it in the fall and didn t use it until the spring. Too long to get it replaced or refunded. Worst product I ve bought so far on Amazon.1Leaks at little at the fittings I had to put plumber's tape on the fittings to stop them from leaking. The flexible collars on both ends tend to slide down, which also allows leakage. It's a very workable hose, but it's aggravating to have to keep sliding the flexible collars up all the time. If this was something I used daily or even a few times a week, I would have returned it. Since it's just for home use when the car tires need air, I deal with it. 3Sill going after 4 yearsOrdered the 25 foot non-coil version in February 2014. I've put it through fairly heavy use, using it almost every weekend for the first few years and at least a few times a month consistently since and it has held up strongly. I only now noticed what appears to be a small kink in one spot so I decided to look into just buying another to be safe since its so cheap, but it still works well. I purchased quick connects when I first got it and secured them with plumbers tape. Very happy with it.5A bit disappointedI am giving this 2 stars. It works well and seems to be pretty sturdy. On the other hand, as you can see from the picture, one of the crimps used to attach an end fitting is split. From my perspective, that is poor quality control. It is not bad enough to send it back and get a new one (who knows what might be wrong with the new one!), but I would likely look at other air hoses in the future and not buy this one. I gave it a one star on durability because of the split crimp, four for being lightweight - it is, and three for maneuverability because it does have a tendency to want to kink, but not as bad as some others I have used.2good so far, feels inexpensiveDon't have crazy high expectations of this and it will do just fine.Quality seems on par with bargain rack of your local parts store or swap meet.Mine has held air pressure no problem, and seems to flow decent enough to spin the impact gun.I'm using it to feed a retractable hose reel, far enough from the compressor so it shouldn't see much heat.I'll rate it 4 stars for now,it holds up I'll put it to 5, if it doesn't, well we'll see :-)4
