    Heavy MetalI use this as a hardware internet ON/OFF switch between my modem and router with source in A and B empty. In the A position we're live; in the B position my entire network is air-gapped. Back in the day I used something similar to switch between classified and unclassified networks. Speaking of back in the day, this thing is built to survive the apocalypse. It's annoying having to unplug from one switch and plugging into another, so I purchased this unit to make my life easier. I was a little hesitant after reading some other reviews and this box killing network throughput, but after testing the unit, I'm getting a full 1000Mb on both networks. I don't show any speed degradation while running through this switch box. Being curious about the inner workings, I opened the case and took pictures. For the price, it's hard to complain about anything. It does exactly what it says it does and it does it well.5Works perfectlyI have 1 hardline ethernet in my office and often switch between my home computer and my work computer. This allows an instant switch.This unit looks like it is from the 70's, but also feels very solid and is reliable. My router is one floor up and I use one of these to switch between two computers on one LAN connection in my study. That way I can switch between my business computer and my personal computer with a twist of the switch. I have another switch between my wireless hot spot and my router so I can securely turn wireless access to my network off or on. Lastly, I have a third switch between my incoming internet connection and my router so I can isolate my entire LAN from the web in a split second.Why? I've had some internet virus software & stand alone software with an internet lock , but you were never sure. Some worked better then others. My desk top computer is hard wired and I just plug the cat5 wire coming from the modem into this box and another cat5 wire from the 'A' box to my computer. The 'B' side is not connected. Switch to 'B' and it is a very effective internet lock. Switch back to 'A' side & the computer reestablishes connection quickly & easily. No built-in wireless card, but I occasionally use a USB wireless card.5Excellent switch. We use one on each hard-wire internet ...Excellent switch. We use one on each hard-wire internet connection from the router to each computer. That way we can turn off the Internet connection manually at will and know a computer is isolated completely from the Internet. Highly recommended. We never use Wifi to connect computers. Also you get higher connection speed by eliminating the wifi connection. Remember to also turn off the radio transceiver if you are not using wifi, on both your router and your computers.5I was experiencing serious degradation of my internet connection at ...I was experiencing serious degradation of my internet connection at night and thought it might be getting hijacked. I started off by unplugging my Ethernet cable every night until I found this. I was concerned that I would quickly wear out my cable connector and this solves that problem. It is much easier to use, too.5Old technology that worksI purchased one and several weeks later another unit. I find it very handy to share a Cat6 cable connection between a computer and an on-line printer. Computer can print directly to this printer via USB cable. Then throw the switch and the printer becomes a printer for everyone using our wifi system.3
