    My only disappointment is that it's plastic As others have noted, the lit button is bright, exceptionally so - you can actually see it in bright direct sunlight, I expect this will help the night vision function on my doorbell video camera. My only disappointment is that it's plastic, not metal. The ad description said something along the lines of polished brass finish, and i expected a metal body with brass plating, like the nutone button it was replacing. The earlier nutone was original, from when the house was built in 1972, so i'm hoping this one will last half that much. I would buy it again though - the action on the button is smooth and it is attractive 4Low quality but looks ok This is a plastic doorbell that is a decent replacement for an old broken wired doorbell button. It has a built in light that apparently runs on low voltage AC, which is how doorbells operate. That would explain why they haven't switched to LED yet, since there are no AC powered LEDs that I am aware of.The button is easy to install and includes screws. Just screw in 2 wires and it's done. Works for front or rear doorbells and the button has a nice feel to it for something that is such low quality. Looks fine from a distance, I just didn't like how cheap it looks up close so I'm giving it a slightly above average rating. There's nothing really wrong with this button and it should last many years. 4Easy to install and priced right After 18 North Texas summers and winters, our original doorbell button finally wore out. I purchased this replacement with very low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I got.The button seems reasonably well made, and it took all of 2 minutes to install. The only issue was the provided mounting screws, which were not long enough to dig into the existing holes in my brick. As such, I used the old screws. This was an acceptable workaround considering the button was less than $8.00. I'm convinced my 7 year old nephew could install this with little to no supervision. It was that easy. 4Looks good and works great! Works perfectly and looks really nice. Fairly priced. Be mindful this isn t straight on the sides so it won t mount right if it s right next to a door frame or any other piece of trim, I was able to easily fix it by drilling a new bottom hole, it s not perfectly straight but it doesn t have to be perfect. Also the screws included are very thin and likely won t fit anyone s current screw holes, I didn t even use them. Not a big deal, i reused my old screws. Still a 5* product and I m very happy. Picture included is before and after. 5Cheap and just works My new home can with one of these which works fine for about 5 years before it discolored due to the elements (-10 winters and 100+ summers with direct exposure) so I decided to replace it with a new one. For the price these things are basically disposable if anything happens to them. The light inside is an incandescent but could be switched out with an LED if you have a basic understanding of soldering. For the price, you really cant go wrong. 5I am not great with tools or maintenance so I was tempted to ... Recently bought a house with a broken doorbell. I am not great with tools or maintenance so I was tempted to just buy a Bluetooth doorbell that didn t require and wiring. However this IS as easy to install as they say it is. I m so happy I attempted it. Now I have a beautiful doorbell that is lit up and I installed myself. 5LOOKS GREAT, INSTALLATION TIPS BELOW LOVE! The button part of our old doorbell was broken (shattered) when we purchased our house last year. I finally decided to stop putting off replacing it and buy one on Amazon since it was so cheap, hoping we could DIY the installation. Good news: installation is easy and took less than 5 mins!! I purchased the "black" color and it perfectly matches our oil rubbed bronze hardware and does not look as cheap as I thought it would. This is also a lighted doorbell that puts out a good amount of light.Although it might be a no-brainer for some, I was skeptical about how easy installation would actually be before I ordered, so I've included directions below for those who are also worried about DIY-ing this project!Tools Needed: ScrewdriverInstallation: Unscrew old doorbell. When you pull it away from the wall, you will see two wires connected; one green and one red. Each wire is wrapped around a separate screw. Carefully loosen each screw the wires are wrapped around until wires are free. Loosen underside screws on new doorbell, wrap a wire around each, tighten, and mount against wall. Install using the two screws provided. EASY.PS- Don't judge the horizontal mount. This is how our old doorbell was installed and I didn't want to make new holes in the siding :) Please also excuse the dirty house- Spring cleaning is in order! 5It works like it's supposed to Installed very easily, and looks clean. Presses much cleaner than my 19 year old, crusted button that neighbor kids couldn't figure out how to press, as they waited fruitlessly for us to answer the door. It has a positive, clean click, and the light turns off as it triggers, so it's very obvious to the guest when it rings.But this is 2017. Couldn't you at least have replaced the light with an LED instead of filament? And given the white body, a full-white instead of soft-white would have been better. However, at the price point, I can't complain. It works as it's supposed to. 4It worked fine after I transferred the resistor from the old button ... If you have a melody doorbell, music/chimes stop as soon as you release the button as opposed to finishing the cycle as my previous button did. Turns out, you need a resistor that connects the two cables under the button, which this unit doesn't come with. It worked fine after I transferred the resistor from the old button to this unit.Maybe the specs should mention that? 3That new doorbell smell! Wow! I have the nicest doorbell in the neighborhood again! Took 2 minutes to install and oh yeah! I remember what my neighborhood looked like when it was new 9 years ago, back when the door bells has working lights.I do wish the button was LED so it would last longer. Would make sense since this light is on 24/7 but it is what it is.Good button. I guarantee it will yellow and crack just like the one it replaced tho. But for $5 I ll replace it again. 5
