Customer Reviews

saved my taste buds many timeswriting to you straight from the polluted hills of west virginia, this filter changed my tap water completely. wv water is like flint except people care about us even less. i'm not saying this will cure your coal sludge water back in the deep hills, you should probably just invest in bottled water there, but for my gross tap water it did wonders. lasts a long time too imo. do recommend5Glad I didn't buy a lot of filters! From day one, the knob you turn to change the diverter to filter / not filter the water is very tight. The faucet mechanism is barely 4 months old, I'm on my third filter cartridge already because after only a month of normal use, the filtered water stops streaming and sprays in multiple directions, now about 3 weeks ago, both the non filtered and filtered spouts both have water coming out no matter which way the diverter is turned, even with a brand new filter cartridge.Awful.1Just Buy The Pitcher System, This Isn't Worth ItTook this baby out of the box, slapped it on my kitchen faucet, let it run for about 5 minutes to clean out the filter, as prescribed by the instructions. I have a total dissolvable solids meter so I was able to test my water prior to adding this filter and then afterwards... Prior to adding the faucet filter, my TDS was 147. At the end of the day, the filtered water had a TDS of 142. My Brita pitcher/filter system brings the TDS down to 42!A 5 point drop in TDS is negligible and pointless. Save your money on this one and buy the pitcher system. It works better and will clean the water more effectively. This is nothing more than a gimmick1I like the filtered water when it comes outThis is a relatively simple filter. The install doesn't take long. I like the filtered water when it comes out, better than the city crap that comes in.The disadvantage is they break about every two years. This is mainly because the sun comes through the window and degrades the plastic. It also doesn't help viewing the filter indicator. Past purchases have had a thicker plastic or some other issue with reading the indicator. My latest looks clearer. It's good for what it does.3Filter will NOT lock on. Water all over my kitchen! Returned! I wish I could give ZERO stars. Bought first one, filter would not lock on. Supposed to be "one click". There are no clicks. Zip. Zero. None. No matter how firmly we pressed the filter in. So anytime you need filtered water, and forget to fetch a RFM (random family member), to hold the filter down for you, while you flip the switch to filtered water and fill your glass/bottle/pitcher; the filter will immediatly pop off (with ANY water pressure) and water will shoot directly up and go everywhere. All over you, RFM's, your kitchen counters, your walls and your pictures on said walls. I can't tell you how fun it is to have this happen, when you go to turn the faucet on for non-filtered water, and the last person forgot to flip the switch back. You get the crap scared out of you while water shoots all over you and everywhere else. As an added bonus, even though your RFM is holding the filter down for you, water will still leak out between filter and base. So I returned for a replacement. Received replacement today. Filter will not lock on. No "clicks". Zip. Zero. None. No matter how firmly we pressed. It was at this point that I started to get a sense of Deja Vu. But I thought, maybe you're just not supposed to *hear* a "click". So, I fetched a RFM, to hold the filter down, while I turned the water on. Just in case. So I flip the switch to filtered and slowly turn the water on. So far so good. So RFM starts to slowly lift hands off while I turn up the water pressure and then BAM! Filter pops off and water shoots everywhere like a damn water fountain! All over me, all over RFM, all over the counters, walls and my pictures. I'm done. RFM's are done. The only positive comment, that I can make, is that it actually DID filter the water well but I'm tired of cleaning up water all over my kitchen and changing my clothes every time I want a glass of water. So I immediately took it off my faucet and packed it back up yesterday (the same day I received it) and UPS picked it up today. Two defective filter systems in a row or a design flaw? I don't know. Returning for a refund. Not a replacement. I learned my lesson. Buying a different brand. Learn from my experience and buy a different brand too.P. S. I also didn't receive the same filter system as described in this listing. It's supposed to have 3 water settings. Both filter systems, I received, only had 2. Also, it's supposed to have a flashing indicator. Neither one, that I received, had that. 1... indicator doesn t work- I don t think it was new like it stated Receive a broken water filter the light indicator doesn t work- I don t think it was new like it stated 1Serves its purpose, but has flaws with new design. It's way less bulker since they have redesigned and I feel like it lasts longer than the older model, which is great. There are 3 reasons that led me to give it 4 stars.1. It's a twist knob to switch from brita filtered water to regular faucet water. The twist knob is much harder to use and I have a fear if I twist too hard it will break or the whole attachment will fall.2. This new design is much smaller, but much louder to use for plain old faucet water. You can practically wake up the house.3. The way the filter dispenses filter water is no longer stream line. Instead, it sprays, so if you're filling up a bottle that has a narrower opening, majority of the filtered water will end up outside the bottle onto the sink. Not to mention, it takes much longer to fill up a bottle.4It doesn't work. I'll make it brief, I bought a water tester kit and tested on water quality before and after installation of this unit.It has the same water quality nothing has changed. Water quality determined by the numbers read from water from0-300. 0 for being the best water quality. Tested on bottled water, it's a number of 3, tested on my water dispenser from Primo water. It's a number of 50. Tested on Brita filter number is 150, without Brita filter it's 150 everywhere around my house and yes, I installed it correctly and followed all instructions. Also, it's flashing green light while water is being dispensed from faucet and I even let it run 10 minutes before I tested the water qaulity.Save you guys some money and don't even bother buying this. 1The re-design of this product is great! First bought this filtration system at a big box store for more money about 16 months ago. Came to Amazon to replace it because we liked the concept but it started leaking around where it s attached to the faucet. It s been re-designed since we first purchased it and the small changes are noticeable:To change between filtered water and the straight faucet is now a slide instead of a rotating switch. The switch was always difficult to rotate because it was under the faucet and the metal got in the way. A back-and-forth slide is easier to reach and puts less pressure on the entire system because you re not fidgeting to access the switch. Also, the slide has 3 options now - normal faucet stream, filtered water AND a spray, like the hand held side sprayer many sinks have. The convenience of having all three in one is great! And now the indicator for whether the filter is still usable has been switched from a green/red circle that moves as the filter gets more used to a flashing LED light, only when you re using the filter. It s less confusing to know if it s time to replace your filter. We bought this originally because we had a small fridge and it was easier to have filtered water on tap as opposed to filling up a filter pitcher every day. That hasn t changed but the improvements make using this multiple times daily even easier! 5The knob to turn from straight tap water to filtered ...The knob to turn from straight tap water to filtered water is very hard to turn. Also when using straight tap water, it comes out in a slow stream. When it comes time to change the filter, I'm going to get rid of this.Update: After posting this, I got a message from the folks a Brita to contact them and they gave me a reference number. When I made contact and gave the number, the customer service representative asked me what address would they like me to send the new water filter to. No questions on what was wrong or anything, they just wanted to make it right. Received the new filter today and the knob works great and it has good straight water flow. Anything can go wrong but it's how people respond is what makes the difference. Upgrading this to a 5 - Star.5Filters water well but breaks easilyI'm on my second faucet attachment (and my third filter) after a couple months of use I found the nob very difficult to turn, then a couple months more and it started leaking, and then it broke all together. However when it works, it works well so I'm going for round two.3Doesn't seem to work very well. I live in a very rural area and get the water for my home from a small, above-ground stream. The water is filtered through an industrial filter that does a good job of removing particulate matter, but during the rainy months, our water can become a bit discolored from soil runoff. I bought the Brita filter for the kitchen faucet to add another layer of protection for drinking water. The Brita may be removing invisible contaminants from the water. I have not had it tested so I don't know. But it certainly does not remove the discoloration due to dissolved minerals and organic molecules.I can't recommend this product to anyone using it for a similar purpose to my own. 1LMAO at the people who gave it one star..LMAO at the people who gave it one star.. Clearly the low end of the IQ curve. The filters last about 2-3 month of high usage, so you will have to replace it periodically and it not designed to last forever. Like it says in the instructions DON'T run hot water through it. Its designed to filter cold water. It comes with adapters. I find it just as economical to replace the whole unit when the filter dies (the water taste terrible again), especially since I have kids who make it filthy. Proper installation is the key to getting it to work properly. If you don't have any talent at screwing things together maybe the Brita 6 Cup Classic BPA Free Water Pitcher with 1 Filter, White would be a better choice.5Filter is not a good buy This filter system is a piece of junk. I should have listened to the reviewers who have posted. After 2 months I finally gave up and removed this filter (or it removed itself). It worked as advertised for a month but then started falling off the faucet. Shortly after 1 month of this my wife said to get rid of it and get me a good filter. From the numerous reviews very few have succeeded with this product. It is a good concept for a cheap solution to filtering out a chlorine taste but it will not stay attached. The design needs a more position attachment over the top of the faucet.I wasted $22.55 for the system and $22.67 for two additional filters. My recommendation is to purchase an under the sink filter system. For $89.95 I just installed the APEC WATER (CS-2500) directly inline with the cold water line. This filter is rated for 15,000 hours, comes with 3/8 compression fittings and two 24 inch hoses with compression fittings. Installation went smoothly and the flow is much higher than through the Brita which is only a dribble. And over time the APEC replacement filter is only $59.95 compared to about $11 for the Brita filters that last only about 600 hours. So you can do the math and see it is better to pay more upfront and have a happy wife. 1Very disappointed, and I would never recommend this system to ... I don't usually review items but I felt I needed to warn people against buying this system.I originally bought this system in a hardware store, worked for about a year, then started leaking where it connects to the faucet. I purchased this one on Amazon, thinking I could just replace the base unit and still be able to use the replacement filters I already had. Got the new unit today, installed it. The new unit shoots the filters off with any water pressure. The button that should release the filter is clearly faulty. So now I have two of these units, and they have two different problems.Very disappointed, and I would never recommend this system to anyone. 1It doesn't work and ineligible for return w/o any notice before purchase Be cautious for the order, make sure you get every details and this item for sure will work well with your faucet before placing the order. You're lucky if this is the case. When I placed the order, there is no any alert this is a non-refundable item. Received the item and found it didn't work for me. Trying to return the item and surprised to see even as a amazon prime member I'm not able to return this item. No matter what reason chosen for the return, I always saw "This item isn't eligible for return .If this is the return policy for this item, this should be explicitly alerted on the website before an order is placed. This is a very frustrated order. 1Great tasting city water.Like the ad says, it reduces chlorine taste. If you have high chlorine in your city water, you may still taste it. In San Diego, my water now tastes great and there's about 60-70 psi so the filtered water fills a glass quickly. If you have low pressure or well water, this filter may not be the right choice for you. I was able to use the included adapter and hand tightened all so there are no leaks. It's a matter of hand feel to know the right tightness. PS make sure all the old washers are out of the faucet. I used to use the Brita pitcher filter, which worked great for years but took up too much counter space in my new small kitchen. This is a perfect solution for me. I got the basic unit with the indicator window on top, no light. I read some of the negative reviews. Yeah it's light plastic, so I'm gentle with the filter switch. I expect it to last at least two years plus filter changes every two months. Cheap enough to buy a replacement if wear and tear causes leaks or broken parts. You want a sturdy metal one? You'll pay well over $150 if you can even find one. I'm glad I ignored those bad reviews. This is a good value for what it is. A fast and affordable solution to great tasting water.5Switch not working after about a monthI really like the quality of water filtered by this device as it removes funny taste of tap water in my apartment. The problem is that this unit is really frail, especially the switch. After about a month, the switch is not working, and water always come out from both channels. It just didnt make sense that I need to replace the device EVEN before I ever replaced my filter. I tried to contact Brita customer service, they just ask me about the device's codes, I gave them those what they needed, but no answer and response after that. Now, I'm trying to buy the more expensive version of this device, hopefully it lasts longer.2
