Customer Reviews

Bought used; came bustedBought the used version, which was about 13 bucks cheaper than the new version. It came nasty dirty, the top right screw hole is totally busted open, and it's missing the nuts shown in the picture to fasten wires to it. Don't buy these used folks, it's not worth it. 1Well builtWell, so far it's just out of the package. It has a wonderful build quality, top notch for certain. I will be using this in a custom jump box project. No, I'm not going to be jumping diesel engines, so a 200A safeguard should be just fine against dead shorts, overload, etc. I would disassemble, but the body is riveted, and I do not have 2 1/4" rivets here.I expect this will do well in my application, I will update this review once I blow the breaker for the first time. I will be employing this unit (200A) on a modest supercapacitor bank. We'll see how it does! 5Spend the money, it s worth it!Great product as usual from Blue Sea Systems! Bought one of the cheaper $25 circuit breakers that was supposedly weatherproof and rated to 250 amps, NOPE! Terminals were junk, rusted and it kept tripping. Installed the blue sea and it is perfect! High quality stainless terminals, and hasn t tripped yet under nominal loads. Spend the $$ on this and save the headache from the cheap stuff! 5Excellent overload and current interrupt protectionReplaced a very old breaker that mounted through a square hole. A 2 1/8" bit provided the round contour needed and the 187 face covered the square hole perfectly. The yellow trip/switch arm is not easily moved, but it was still a choice between accidentally bumping into this one in a downward motion or bumping directly into the little red button on the other Blue Sea Systems DC breaker. I bought both and neither scenario seems unlikely.Current interrupt protection is 5000A at 14VDC, which is needed when connected directly to a large starting battery (lesser fuses could carry a fault load through a sustained arc). Also from the data sheet are overload ratings: 300% for 5 seconds, 200% at 10 seconds. 5Great for automotive too.Used this instead of a fuse for an auxiliary fuse block that I added to my Jeep. Used a Blue Sea fuse block and was impressed by the quality, so I got their circuit breaker too. Good quality unit, the rubber caps for the studs are a nice touch. The best feature is the red button that lets you manually trip the breaker. Intended for marine applications, have had no issues with it on my Jeep for the past year, and can't imagine I ever will. 5Gets the job done.Works great, and better than pulling a fuse to kill the power in my enclosed utility trailer overhaul project I've got going. Just flip the switch, and power is killed from the Battery. Built solid, nothing flimsy at all. I used it to kill the power going from the Battery to the power converter on the 12v side, and it being a breaker in case of a surge is a big plus. 5Well worth the money...GREAT DC breakerLOVE this breaker...been running it for 8 months now.Good:- Build heavy duty- Strong lugs- Non-directional- Strong guts- Looks cool in my system- Good up to 48v- Built to last forever...Not so good:- Price is a little high- Mounting hole in between lugs is slightly angled- Not sure if it will work over 48v for those with 48v battery banksUsing this with my solar power battery bank and inverter. The inverter charges the batteries and also draws power from the batteries. So, this circuit breaker has to work both ways...this one works. 5Best Solution for a Solar Panel DisconnectI use this for a solar panel disconnect. Since I needed a switch to disconnect my solar panels, I bought this which is roughly the same price as a switch and you get the bonus of have a circuit breaker. While a fuse or circuit breaker isn't necessary for solar panels, it nice to have. Pulling a fuse or a wire is not ideal since DC current sparks like crazy and is hard on connections- a proper switch is truly needed. This circuit breaker is rated for continuous duty. Blue Sea makes a less expensive one for intermittent duty. DO NOT get the cheap one if you are running current through it all the time. Get this one. Neither is the less expensive one meant to used as a switch. This one you can use as a switch and not worry about wearing it out prematurely. It looks nicer making for a more professional-looking installation. This doesn't heat up when used continuously, which means a more efficient use of electricity; a crucial consideration when solar is your only source of energy. 5my 70 amp version that normally works fine tripped at 60I use these types of breakers for my solar projects. They come in varying sizes. It allows you to manually open and close the circuit at will without having to move wires. I use these before and after each solar charge controller. This comes in handy for maintenance, trouble shooting a system, or just turning off a portion of the system. They do trip at lower than the rating when the environment gets warmer and that is part of the design. For example, my 70 amp version that normally works fine tripped at 60.5 amps when the temp around the system was over 110F. Ideally you dont want to have the system exposed to temps in that range anyway. After exhausting the heat the breaker worked as usual again. 5I love this circuit breakerI love this circuit breaker. It looks great, works well. The studs are small considering you use battery cables on them, but it works fine. You can see the install on my Logan horse trailer--replaces a crummy little in-line breaker that came stock. 5
