Customer Reviews

meh Should've read the reviews more carefully before purchasing. This torch actually works quite well IF you want a really hot, full-blast flame and don't mind breaking off the child-lock. The adjustability on this thing is nil. Trying to use this thing with the child-lock in place would make a good bar bet .. but does not make for productive torching. I'll take some of the blame for not doing my homework but I pretty much though Blazer was the best brand so there wasn't much to think about...but I can't see the adjustability thing as anything but a flaw. Once you manage to get the flame at it's smallest it's very inconsistent. This torch also does not work will upside down. Overall . .not the best. 2Great torch! I first want to say that this is a great torch, I was really impressed by the flame, the design, and the overall feeling of quality. As with any good thing, there are usually a couple negatives as well, but they are relatively minor. The first being the safety mechanism is a little bit awkward to use, but i remedied that by breaking it off with pliers. (very easy to do, it's just a small plastic tab)The second issue I'm having is that I've tried using 2 different brands of butane and both won't make a good seal on the filling nozzle. So I don't know if there is a specific butane this one likes, or what? If anyone has any tips for me in that regard, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Note I would like to add since I have been using it more: The flame level adjustment is fairly useless on mine, it has a long range from - to + but it really doesn't change it at all until you are almost all the way to - and it lowers the flame but its easy to accidentally lower it too much and put it out. So basically the flame is at the same exact level for about 90% of the range, and you have to carefully work within the 10% of the range if you want to lower the flame without putting it out. This is not a big deal to me, but I just wanted to let people know if they needed to utilize this feature.UPDATE: I have tried Calibri, Ronson, Coleman and Zippo brand butane. All of them partially work and you can get it mostly filled, but they don't make a good seal and a decent amount of butane escapes every time I fill it. It appears that the metal intake on the torch is larger than the filling nozzle on most butane refill bottles. So it can't really make a good seal and as a result, some butane is lost in the filling process. I'm still hoping someone will eventually find one that works well and let me know. Also just to clarify I have several butane lighters and I've never had this issue, so it's not a user error. 4Nice flame, but some (potentially dangerous) design flaws I like it, but it's a bit awkward to use, and there have been a few times when I've been using it that I accidentally locked it on. The motions to light it are confusing enough, but then getting it to lock on is almost too easy. The flame is a nice flame, but I didn't notice too much of a difference when adjusting the flame size. Overall, I think it will be a great tool to have around my kitchen, but I wish that I looked at a few more first. 3Awesome little torch for jewelry! This little torch is awesome! I use it for silver and copper and brass and I couldn't be happier with it. I've even made a cuff bracelet with it, so not just for tiny projects! It didn't do the entire bracelet, but it is great for bezels. 5Cheap Mechanism. Lighter locked up (Blazer) after first try. Didn't ask for a replacement; won't buy again. 1Good torch, not built for daily use I wish that I could give this torch a 5 star review, as I really loved it when I first received it. For the first four to six weeks, it was amazing, but it cannot stand up to daily use. I had some trouble with the locking mechanism at first, but after some practice it was easy enough to figure out. Then came the leaks. At first it was just a tiny bit of air escaping during a refill, and then it kept growing with each refill. I have tried several different brands of butane, all with the same result. It appears to be an issue with the size of the nozzle on the torch itself. Short bursts of butane seem to work best for refilling, but some gas is still lost. But then the torch itself broke. The black plastic that encloses the tank has come unglued from the top. It would appear to snap back into place, but there is no way to make it stay without gluing. The holes around the screws in the bottom are too large, and it slips right off. So disappointed, as performance wise it's a great little torch.I recommend it if you use it occasionally, but not if you need this torch daily as it isn't designed for it. 3Hot Torch! Hot finishing torch for the perfect final touch on creme pudding deserts and other fine desserts. I bought 2 of these for my daughter in laws and one is on order for our house. Easy to handle and beats a plumbers butane torch for cooking these desserts... 5what a waste first, all of the complaints about problems refilling it are true. Nothing seems to be compatible and leaks all over when filling....what a waste! Second, I got it to do silver soldering for jewelry making. It doesn't even get hot enough to make SOFT solder flow. I am bummed 1Five Stars Best heat shrinking torch I've ever owned. Definitely recommend 5The second one I got worked fine. The child safety device is a pain in ... The very first one I received in the mail was broken, it didn't discharge any butane. The second one I got worked fine. The child safety device is a pain in the rear-end and it is difficult to become accustomed to. The locking mechanism is a bit confusing at first and in an inconvenient area because as you're trying to light the torch you may accidentally lock yourself out. The size of the torch is convenient and the shape is ergonomic. But I've owned and used better torches than this one and would not recommend. 2
