Customer Reviews

Like that it has a replaceable battery Works well. Bought as an inexpensive replacement to my old one. Like that it has a replaceable battery. Does not have as much torque as I would like however. but only bought for general home projects so will work 4Great Compact Drill...Variable Speed, Long Lasting Charge, And Just The Right Amount Of Power This is just what I wanted...I have two other cordless drills in the shed that have not only seen better days, but they are really big and in most cases too big for the small jobs I have in mind for them...I decided to get one for the house that will be handy and available for any small to medium jobs that come along..This is a compact drill that holds a charge for a very long time and also performs very well..At 12 volts, it is plenty powerful enough for most of the household jobs that come along...And, it also has the all important variable speed feature for getting just the amount of power and spin you want..It arrived with a bit of a charge in it, but I plugged it in to get it to full power which took just over 2 hours. According to the directions its supposed to be able to hold a charge for over a year which would be wonderful. Nothing more aggravating that reaching for your cordless drill only to find it dead, or near dead. A long lasting charge will be a very welcome plus..One last thing that happens to be a biggie for me, and that is the price. At $25 at the time of this writing its not only the perfect power and size, but price. I'm no professional, and the jobs I have here in mind for a drill from now on don't need all the power and price that many of these carry. This is a very nice drill, compact which is just what I wanted, and is a well known brand for a very reasonable price...Can't ask for more...Very much recommended.. 5Impressive little drill with a couple of minor flaws Impressive power for a small drill, and cheap! (You can get two of these for the price of most drills.) And this is the only cheap drill I've found out there with variable speed control, which is very helpful when making initial drill holes, etc.Two minor downsides: The collet (the dial with 1-10 settings for how much force to max out at) is pretty useless: even at 10 it will tap out before setting a screw in anything but soft wood. This is avoidable by not using the collet (i.e. set it on the 'screw' setting on the dial), but this does mean you may wind up overscrewing sometimes if you're not careful. The chuck also arrived in a very stiff state: I couldn't get it to move at all initially, even using some rubber lid openers to grab it. I finally got it to move by setting the dial to 'screw' and using the drill itself to break it loose. After the initial breaking loose, the collet is now totally fine.I bought a set of these so I can finally stop having to switch between drillling bits and screwdriver bits all the time. Overall I'm quite happy with them, esp at the price. 4Poor quality- broke after 1 minute of use Drill Broke (motor quit) after < 1 minute of use (seemed like a good price- but not at all worth the wasted time & efforts). Was replaced- but very inconvenient after charging battery pack, preparing my project, drill motor breaking (<1minute) and having to send back item and then order new drill replacement (not sure if replacement works as haven t wasted time trying it yet). Buy better rated /quality to avoid disappointment and huge waste of your time. 1Basic home DIY drill I have used it for a couple different projects and so far, its okay. First, removing an old TV wall mount. I popped a bit in and bam. The bolt came right out, easy as could be. Now, the second bolt was a different story. This thing struggled and smoked, didn't budge. I took a screwdriver to loosen it and then it broke free and came right out. I wasn't too impressed at this point.Second round, hanging up a touch screen for my security system. 2 small half inch screws. Absolutely no problems there. I then used it to remove an old telephone box off a wall.My 2 cents. If you are drilling into something soft like drywall you got it made. If you are trying to drill/remove from wood studs, best of luck. I feel like its really underpowered for the task. I was looking for a drill that I could use for basic home tasks. I am going to upgrade to the 20 volt before I take on any bigger tasks like re doing my deck. I wouldn't buy it again. 3No power and began to smoke I would say I have a shopping addiction for tools so have all makes and models of drills. Why so many drills when you can only use one? Well back to that tool addiction thing. I really wanted to like this drill, but it ha some serious limitations. First, the power is severely lacking on this drill. I was using a fully charged battery and I drilled three 3/8 inch holes in a piece of pine wood about 2 1/2 inches in depth. It drilled the first one fine, but on the second it struggled and on the third it began to smoke. I would also like to add I was using good sharp bits (this makes a huge difference as well). I am not sure if it is this drill in general or just the one I received. I feel this drill is very under powered even at this price point. A drill is one of the most common tools you will buy. I would recommend spending a little extra and getting a nicer one with more power. 2The tip is not missing. Do not return yet. I had the same confusion as a lot of the previous posters. In the picture, it shows the metallic pointy thing at the end of the drill chuck. When the drill arrived, the metal pointy thing was not there. That is because when the chuck is in the open position for placement of the drill bit, the metallic teeth are retracted inside. If the chuck is changed into closed position without a drill bit installed, then the teeth protrude forward into the pointy appearance. So apparently, the drill comes with in the open retracted position, with the pointy tip retracted inside. So here is the second conundrum. In the instructions, it says that in order to insert the drill bit, you have to first turn the front half of the chuck counterclockwise. However, since the chuck is already in the open position, it cannot be turned counterclockwise anymore. So I spent a long time and a lot of strength trying to turn it counterclockwise, which it wouldn't go, since it was maximally open. By the time I tried turning it the other way, I think it had jammed, and wouldn't turn any way anymore. I was about to return it. Finally, I shot some WD40 into the chuck opening, and tapped it around to get the stuff insinuated inside. Eventually, I was able to turn the chuck clockwise to close the teeth onto the drill bit. After that, it worked like a charm! 4AWESOME! from a 1st time drill user. I am a girly girl that discovered I actually love doing some handy work. I started teaching myself to do things through the very awesome YouTube and internet. As a first time user, this drill is da bomb. I love how light weight it is. It's so easy for me to hold and the no plug is amazing.I dislike reading directions but turns out these are pretty easy.I'm a fan. I even find myself looking for projects so I can use this thing. The only thing I didn't get that would be nice is some sort of storage bag. I am sure I can buy one though. That said, this is easy and lightweight and I highly recommend it. 5Got a defective drill This drill was missing the end bit that holds the screw/nail in place. I see that some other reviewers had the same problem, so there is a batch of lemons of this model circulating. 1Doesn't Look Like Picture-Read This Before Returning I returned it after assuming there was something wrong with the keyless chuck portion of the drill.I've included a photo of the instructions in case there is anyone who went through something similar. Honestly if you're going to make a instructional manual, make it look like the actual product. After returning and receiving the same exact looking drill I figured I'd try and see if I was missing something.I was! The drill is just not made the same as the picture. I've put the bit in and works fine. You simply have to twist the two sections of the Keyless Chuck to insert the bit inside. You'll notice some of the inside coming up and opening for insertion. Then you twist it back and it's held in there great. It's page 9 of the instruction book and it's not too difficult to follow. Just wish the pictures weren't misleading. 4
