    Silky BigBoy Saw Sheath Holster The Silky BigBoy Saw Sheath allows one to work hands free.I take my Silky BigBoy with me on all of my camping/bushcraft trips.It makes life easier when you're foraging for and cutting wood away from the campsite, because you can holster the saw. When space in your pack is at a premium, the holster allows you to attach saw to your pack with a molle system or carry it on your belt.The actual "sheath" which is made of hard plastic, is detachable from it's belt loop, so when you're finished sawing wood, you can holster the sheath and then remove it from the loop without having to unfasten your belt and slide it off.It's also compact enough so that while you're wearing it, you can stoop down and not have it hit the ground, like some of the holsters for Silky's other saws.For me, it's been worth the extra money and I wouldn't be without it on any camping/bushcraft trip. 5Modify it first This is sheath is constructed well and fits the saw well but you will need to find a way to keep it secure in the sheath it when carrying on the belt in the field. I drilled two holes in the front of the sheath at a proper distance and used a small bungee cord to strap it in and it did the trick. But I will say on a positive note that this sheath does protect you from being cut or snags in your pack it is a must buy and I am very satisfied 5Must have for bigboy. This is a must with the bigboy. There's a gap when folded that exposes some teeth. This killed two birds with one sheath. Gap is covered, and it can be easily used back and forth from belt to cutting task mutiple times so you don't set your bigboy down on ground where it could be damaged. 5This is a GOOD sheath for the Bigboy This is a solution to transportability for my BigBoy saw. Among other things, it has a large drain hole at the bottom of the sheath to let water drain and small debris fall out the bottom. My saw holds snugly in the sheath. This is a good buy for the "field" user of the saw. thanks rch 5Does not hold Big Boy saw with straight blades very securely I have two Silky Big Boy saws, one with a curved blade and one with a straight blade. The saw with the curved blade is about 3/16 wider overall when closed and has a very slight friction fit into the sheath. The saw with the straight blade does not friction fit and rattles around quite a bit.I am not climbing trees with the sheath on, but I could imagine that if the sheath got a bit tilted to slightly upside down, the saw with the straight blade could slide right out.The sheath does seem very well made of resilient plastic but it's really unfortunate that it does provide positive retention of all blade variations of the Big Boy saw. 3Nice carrying case The saw fits loosely in case and sometimes will slip out while being transported in a horizontal position in my trunk or snow machine tote. It does completely protect the saw and makes transport on a belt convenient. 4Which way into the holster? Well made, quality saw holster. I suggest that one puts the saw in hinge first, ("down"), and it will be snug-gripped with the handle ready to grab. Put it in with hinge up and it's loose and will easily fall out of the holster. Only 4 stars because the belt loop is not on a swivel. Wrote this after seeing others' questions/comments on this holster and discovered, "eureka," I was holstering my beloved Silky "upside down." 4Need it? No...but it's worth getting. better than expected After reading many reviews I am happier with this sheath than i thought i would be. The Bigboy slides in towards a pressure fit in the bottom. You can hold it upside down and the saw doesn't slide out. I'm sure if you shook it it would. I had no problems scrambling over some rocks to get some firewood with this clipped to my belt.the belt loop is a rubberized loop that is fixed in the vertical position...it was a bit unclear before i bought it what that would be like.overall, i'm glad i got the sheath. at the price it's a bit of a splurge, but worth it.I wish they'd have made the capture a bit more secure. The silky folks are smart people that make great products, but they missed an opportunity there. 4Effective and Expensive Sheath for the Silky BIG BOY Folding Pruning Saw I have no doubt in my mind that this sheath performs like it should. I actually watched a couple of unboxing videos of this product on YouTube, and it seems that this sheath works universally for all the four different Silky Big Boy Folding Pruning Saws. However, if one intends to use this sheath for the Big Boy 2000 model (like I do), due to the blade being curved, it will have some movement unlike the other models with the straight blades. So perhaps wrapping the Big Boy 2000 with a cloth prior to inserting it into the sheath, would help to avoid any sort of movement and/or inner damage.What I did not like about this particular purchase is that they sent me a used sheath. I have not yet even opened my saws, which I also bought here on Amazon, and my sheath is already full of scratches and cuts, particularly in its interior, and it really annoys me, since I paid for a new product, not a used one, therefore I'm going to ask for a discount. The bubble wrapping in which it came left me kind of wondering if it was really new or not. 4Keeps your Silky BigBoy pruning saw safe yet handy This holster, when strapped on your belt, is the best way to carry your Silky BigBoy pruning saw while you are clearing trees. The saw is so sharp, and the blade is thin and flexible, so that the only SAFE way (for you and your saw) to put the saw down between cuts is by CAREFULLY folding the blade, and sliding into the holster. If you are working on a ladder or climbing to get to branches, this is the only way to have the saw handy. 5
