Customer Reviews

Good product but, difficult to achieve a tight seal around large door trim.Achieving a tight seal around garage door trim is difficult. the seal was very good with snow and ice build up. When temperatures rose the seal between bag and wall was lost. I'm seeking a material that is water proof , flexible that will conform to the trim and curvature of bag. Once bag is frozen there is no adjustment. 4Protected 2 car garage from Hurricane MathewI researched many options in the marketplace and am very happy I chose this product. It handled Hurricane Matthew's attack on my home in Florida October 2016. The 24 feet long x 20 inches wide x 12 inches high barrier covered my standard 2-car garage with about 2 or 3 feet overlap on both sides. It was very easy to setup and fill by myself. You can make minor adjustments to the unit while less than half full. After that it becomes much more difficult alone. Think it through before filling. I highly recommend this product. Well made with durable materials. It should hold up for many years. Sand bags cheaper but are one time use option and much more difficult to stack and then remove after the storm.Note to MFG: For the longer units it would be extremely helpful if you could add a 2 fill/drain port on both ends. It would make the draining and 'drying' much faster after the storm. This is not a complaint and is overall a minor issue. I would definitely purchase again. 5No More Heavy Sandbags :) because these work like a Dream!!!!!Our home was destroyed in 2016 in a great flood, with over 5 ft throughout the entire home, we had to totally rebuild our home with our life savings, then July 6 of this year we had another flood on the 2 yr anniverary of our moving back into our house....this time 3 inches of water thru the entire house and we just had enough of the fighting with these heavy rains that just flood everything so fast. So we purchased 2 of these and along comes Hurricane Barry...we set them up and heading out of town...we weren't sure what we would find when we returned...but Thank God they worked and didn't even let any water into the house. Can't tell you how Happy we are to finally find something that is so easy and fast to setup and that works like a dream. We are going to purchase 1 more for another doorway that we used sandbags to stop the water...these worked so much better than the sandbags. 5Enjoy these Hydrobarriers - We have a 12' foot and ...Enjoy these Hydrobarriers - We have a 12' foot and 2 6' ones and they do well in a storm. One came with a small hole or so it seemed because we could see a leak. These are very easy to fill and and much nicer than traditional sandbags. Hard to store - if you live in a humid area - we had mold on one this summer, but otherwise I highly recommend as a barrier method. 4Hydrabarrier supreme had hole in itWas extremely upset to fill this and have a pin hole in it. It was shooting water straight out of it. Its an inconvenience to have to empty it and send it back as I am paying someone to do the work for me. It doesn't seem to be as thick as I thought it was. 3this item works well for 6 inches and less but ...this item works well for 6 inches and less but if flood water gets more than halfway up the bag, it can carry this off. Mine was moved by flood waters on May 5 in Moore Ok 3Works great! ReusableWorks great! Reusable, unlike most other similar products. I use it to contain about 6 inches of irrigation water every 2 weeks in AZ sun. 5Four Starsbest for level, straight ground are but overall worked to prevent flooding in my yard 4Best water barrier I've found! These things have saved my house from potential water damage time and time again. Due to a large oak tree smack dab in the middle of my patio, the patio concrete is now tilted, and all the rainwater comes straight for my three back doors. I use them during the rainy season, leaving them out all the time. I have had them for years. I have two large dogs who travel over them, in and out of the doors all the time, and their huge claws have yet to puncture these tubes. I keep floor mats layed over the tubes (only at the doors) for added protection. The 12" tubes are huge, and unless you have a ton of deep or rushing water you need to stop, the smaller tubes would probably work just fine for you. I don't recommend mixing the sizes. I highly recommend these water barriers. Years ago I used the gel-filled tubes (which leaked gel and were always slimy, and took forever to dry out again), and these are WAY better than those. 5Suggestions on how to use the hydrabarrier! My house was flooded as a result of Hurricane Hermine. I live on a river that accesses the Gulf of Mexico. I bought one of these to test it to see if it would be a good alternative to sand bags. I tested it on a few of my exterior doorways and am sharing my experience here. First, watch the placement of the barrier while filling it as it must be tight up against the door. That's difficult, if not impossible, to do. And once the barrier has water in it, it will be too heavy to move. You'll have to release the water and try again. This is best done when there is no present danger and you have plenty of time to retrofit the barrier to your needs. I'm glad I decided to test it out before another major storm or hurricane. My solution was to build a wooden frame angle bracket (with green wood) which is held in place by the weight of the water-filled barrier (wood floats!). The bracket holds the barrier tight against the door. This could also be accomplished with sandbags (ugh!) or even a few bags of potting soil. Adding a wedge is especially important if the surface is not level or the barrier WILL definitely roll. I found adding a wedge is essential at every entryway, including the garage door. Quickly receding water just might pull the barrier away enough to allow water in.I also decided to stack the barriers to make them higher, since 12" is not enough for me. I accomplished this by placing two wide straps (or rope, if you don't have a strap) under the barrier prior to filling it. Then adding the second barrier and tying the two together with the straps. The wedge keeps both barriers tight against the entryway.A word about the blue hydrafill adaptor. It doesn't work on this model. But I just held it in place while filling the barrier. No big deal. It fills quickly. The barrier itself is made of a sturdy material. I've had no problems with leaks or punctures, but I prepare the surface underneath the barrier by removing anything that might puncture it under the weight of the water. You could also put something (like a tarp) underneath the barrier to protect it, if you're using it on a pebbled driveway, for example. Finally, I prepare the entryways just as I would if I were using sandbags. I use thick plastic sheeting to cover the entryways and hold the sheets in place with duct tape or better yet, waterproof Flex tape. I used duct tape before Hurricane Hermine and it "may have" helped, I'm not sure because the duct tape pulled away and I still had water in the house. I didn't have the hydrabarriers then. Preparation is a good best practice any way you look at it. Water is the worst and will find any way to get in, so you need to do other things besides just using the hydrabarrier. After testing the hydrabarrier, I have ordered additional barriers for each of my entryways. The cost is between $500 and $1000, but this is much less expensive than tearing out and replacing drywall, appliances and furniture. And, the barriers are reusable. I'm satisfied with the results of my testing and am confident that the use of the barriers WITH the wedges, as well as other waterproofing best practices, l will remain reasonably dry when the next storm hits. I hope this helps you decide whether or not the hydrabarrier will work for you. In my opinion, there are not many alternatives out there. 4
