    Very nice-looking small fixed position vice. Works very well and looks good on an office desk/workbench I mounted this vise on my workbench to hold my Lansky sharpening system while I use it. For that purpose, it's amazing. It works really well, and it's small and cute and looks good on the desk. I also use it to hold things when I'm soldering or working on electronics or filing small objects, other minor projects. Note the jaws don't rotate on this model, and it doesn't open super wide (but pretty wide for its size). It's a very small vise, but perfectly suited to my needs 5Five Stars Perfect for small welding projects! 5Opens more than an inch; great for the price - This is a modest-quality vise, but it was also very modestly priced: $13, which included shipping. It opens up *more* than an inch, which is what I needed, and I looked at a large number to find what I needed at an affordable price. I think the description says it opens to 2", but there is no "stop", so if opened too far, the back part will come off. I didn't do any measurements; I only made sure it would fit the items I needed it to hold. - Now, if someone is looking for some super-high-tech-ultra-precision vise, this is *not* that, which I only mention because there always seems to be *someone* who ridiculously complains when an inexpensive item is not exactly the same as one costing 5X as much. This is more of a "workhorse" item. It is described as being Hardened Steel, and it certainly feels heavy enough to be that. - Note that the jaws are smooth, *not* grooved. The body looks like it was cast, but the jaws look like they've been ground to give a tight fit, so the edges are sharp and be aware that some items might need some sort of wood or rubber (et cetera) pad to prevent scoring, although that seems to be true of any vise. - All in all, I am totally happy with the item, the price, and the vendor (ToolUSA). 5
