I'd say the color reproduction accuracy is pretty much spot (heh) on to sunlight Are you a detailer? You need this light. It is insanely bright to the point of "you don't want to shine this in your eyes". I'd say the color reproduction accuracy is pretty much spot (heh) on to sunlight. I used it for about an hour and the battery charge indicator was still full. It has 2 brightness modes - full bright which you want to hold a few feet away from the paint, and then half-bright which is more up close inspection. 5Totally worth it! I'm not a pro Detailer. However, I do have over 30 years doing paint and body work on my cars. I couldn't see paying twice as much for the Scan grip. However, the scan grip has two light temps to just one for this unit. This unit has the softer light, so it's perfect for my white Prius. If you have a dark colored car, you may want to look elsewhere, since using the incorrect temp light hides the bulk of scratches, swirls, etc. It's well built. I has a very strong magnet on the end, and it swivels just like the Scan grip. I highly recommend it if you have a light colored car, boat, etc. 5It s a tough little light woth a strong magnet This is a great light. I was installing a supercharger on my Jeep and accidentally left it on the front bumper between the front grill and my winch. I didn t realize it was there for a month, drove it dailey through rain and shine. The magnet held and it was still charged to around 50%. It still takes a charge and works great. If your irresponsible like me and accidentally leave it stuck on your car chances are that it will be right where you left it and in perfect working condition the next time you wash the vehicle find it. Both price and effectiveness. I work for a paint manufacturing company who only uses Scangrip Sunmatch Handheld Lights for color evaluation. I wanted one for myself so I bought the Astro 50SL. I got it today while I was at work and was able to put it to the test right out of the box. I read the same panel side by side and color rendering is certainly superior with the Astro. Magnets are just as strong if not stronger and has the same range of motion from its pivot point when stood vertically from the magnetic base. Handheld weight is the same as the Scangrip. Truly, it has all of the qualities of a $150 Scangrip and more. As a technical representative for my company who evaluates high performance automobile and power sports paint on a daily basis, go with the Astro and save yourself money with this. 5Picks up every defect I m a detailer and picked this up to have some extra lighting around my garage. This is great for every general job you could think of given the brightness. However, it truelly excels in picking up scratches, swirls, ceramic coating high spots and holograms in paint.Before purchasing this, I used my Husky LEDS, the sun, and my phone light. I m scared to look at cars I ve done in the past as this little guys picks up far more defects than my husky lights on all colors. Buffer trails are especially more prevalent with this light. They stand out exceptionally well, where as with my husky lights buffer trails would just be a slight haze. Battery life is sufficient to get you through a correction on a car given you don t keep it on for the entire duration. I am extremely satisfied and surprised by the quality. I don t see any need spend twice the money on a scangripNot to mention it comes with a one year warranty:PIf you have restricted space, ditch the bulky huskys and use this. You won t be disappointed. 5This is the real deal The color rendering on this light is excellent and it shows up defects well. The color temperature is not daylight (5600K) but a bit warmer, maybe 4400K. This means it is not a bluish color but not really orange either. Just about right. The form factor is good and the beam is amazingly even, no hot spots and a wide spread of light. About all you could wish for is a longer battery life but that is true for all lights, isn't it? 5Paid for itself in a single push of a button...literally. An exceptionally big improvement to not having one. We do furniture restoration work and this light is SO helpful in finding defects in the wood, in the color, in the clear coats, sanding marks, dust or lint fibers. It really makes a big difference using it for a variety of needs. The 2 magnets are VERY strong to hold the light's weight in ANY position possible. Love that it docks to recharge. We will likely be adding at least 1 more of these to our shop. This literally paid for itself the first time I pushed the power button on. Not many great tools do that. VERY good value for this light. 5Recomended from an avid detailer So I have used this Astro Branded color match light for about 4 months and on 2 full paint corrections and a few spot corrections. When I purchased it there were only about 5 reviews on Amazon which were good but limited. As of today there are 36 reviews that are mostly glowing and for good reason.This light is actually marketed more for bodyshops to replicate natural sun light and aid in paint matching. I can however attest that it does a great job for spotting paint imperfections most notably swirls, spider trails, acid rain spots, ect. For the price point it works amazingly well especially considering that similar lights cost close to twice as much.What sets this light apart:2 brightness settingsRechargeable with a base station much like a cordless phone.Features a charge indicator bar.Folding hanger hook.Has a magnetic base on the light.This last feature is very handy as you can place the light on panels with an adjustable head so that you can focus the light to the area you are working on for paint correction or under the hood of a car when doing engine work.Once fully charged I have been able use this off and on for a good 4 hours without running out of charge.If your in the market for a good swirl finder light or even a shop light with the magnetic base and small retractable hanger hook for less than $70 it is hard to beat. It also has a nice weight to it and feels good in the hand.If I had a complaint it would be that the base has little weight so you have to hold the base with one hand while pulling the light out with the other. 5
