Customer Reviews

Works very well This product works, and works very well when set up correctly.Let me go over a couple things to make it easier for you and avoid a couple of problems I had.First of all, upgrade the firmware first before you bother to get started.Second, if you only have an old G band router like me, do not choose both G and N for the repeater. The repeater WILL repeat your signal on both bands, and if you have N-capable devices they will connect that way. Unfortunately, the repeater will generate delays as it transforms the N-based signals it uses to talk to your device to the G-based signals it needs to talk to your router. It took me a week to figure out this issue and fix the periodic lag I was getting for things like online video streaming. So configure the repeater to ONLY use the same bands that your router is capable of.Finally, I was annoyed that I had to set up a special second SSID for the extended network from the repeater. I was under the impression that I could use the same SSID for both the original and the extended network, and let devices connect to the stronger one based on signal strength (they may be distinguished from each other since they have different MAC addressed even though they have the same SSID). While this does work, it works poorly. I found that devices would often fail to connect to the stronger of the two signals and often choose my distant router instead. Another problem with this approach is that the web-based management url on the repeater is difficult to access under this approach. You must access it via IP address instead, and also make sure your DNS server on the router doesn't attempt to point you elsewhere. It was a real PITA. Do not do this. Use a new SSID and manually switch to the better network on your mobile devices when necessary. I find that I rarely need to bother manually switching anyway since the signal from the Amped repeater is so strong -- I only switch to the original network when I am in the room with the router itself. The rest of my house and yard are well served by the extended network coming from the repeater.Overall, a very good purchase, once you get past setup/config issues. 5BEST WIFI EXTENDER EVER!!! After dealing with Verizon for more than a dozen times in three weeks to try to get the wifi working, they finally got it fixed and I hurriedly hooked this up. I immediately called Amped for assistance and got Nick, #177. He patiently walked me through the setup which was so simple I could have done it with my eyes closed, but didn't want to take a chance. This is a SWEET piece of equipment. I had purchased another brand earlier last week which was a nightmare and thankfully, good old Amazon took it back so I could get this. We have a small two story house (1700 square feet) and we set it up halfway down the hall on the same floor as the network modem. Signal was boosted from 3 to 5 bars immediately.I HIGHLY recommend this product, and AMPED has WONDERFUL customer service. Amped products are highly rated on wifiextenders.com. 5this device will not be patched against the KRACK WPA2 WiFI vulnerability WARNING - Amped Wireless support has confirmed that this device will not be patched against the KRACK WPA2 WiFI vulnerability. The last firmware update was in 2013 and support says to not expect another. It is not listed on Amped's list of devices that will receive updates. As far as I am concerned the device is defective and dangerously insecure, all the more so because of it's "high power". I will be removing it from service immediately.Check for firmware updates before buying any WiFI device. If it is older than the KRACK disclosure DO NOT BUY. 1Don t bother. Initial setup was a pain but not impossible. However, working as intended seems to be something beyond its capabilities. I don t know what triggers the reset but at some point your password will be rejected by the repeater as incorrect even though the SSID remains as you set it. Your only option then is to reconnect to your PC with it to refresh your setup. Then it will work until the next reset ...at which point you have to repeat your setup. So, I guess it s technically a repeater . As in you ll repeat your setup again and again and again. 1Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR300) I rely on the ratings for products bought through Amazon from the users. I believe they're fair in their reviews so I saw the great reviews for the Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR300) and thought I'd take a chance. I'm not that computer savvy but I can read instructions. I couldn't get this thing to work to save my life. I asked my wife for some support thinking I was missing something. Like maybe I CAN'T read.To start from the beginning, I wanted to get a better signal for my Roku to watch Netflix. There were times when it seemed to buffer several times during a movie, hence, the thought for a booster. Naturally I logged on to Amazon to see the ratings of the various boosters. I chose the one that I thought would have a decent chance of eliminating this pesky problem. Upon arrival to my door(Thanks Amazon)I immediately started. I began by carefully reading the instructions to put on the antennas, plug in to an outlet and put the telephone wire into the computer port. I know it's not really a telephone wire but it looks like one. I inserted the disk that was furnished even though it didn't help or did it? Who knows? So far so good, brought up the setup webpage to the following, click on to a 70% or better signal "I'll pick this one that reads 100%." as it should since I'm sitting close to the Cisco router. As I continued through the setup it put in a new address and a password and I waited for a minute or so. Later in my many attempts I'll replace this address and password to my own, I'll set the booster in several different locations plug and unplug the telephone wire from the tv as well as the computer but with no success. After the wait it congratulates us on a fine job we did. The instructions read that I can move the booster after it is setup so, therefore; I will then place the router next to the tv and plug into the outlet and plug the telephone wire into the tv. So, up one flight of stairs and across to the other side of the house. Next we turned on the Netflix to find it comes in at a satisfactorily speed. Of course this is Saturday after noon and we're not sure if it's the booster or the possibility of very little strain on the broad band.Satisfied the booster might be working since there are little lights blinking. I brought the lap top in the room from the lower level, watching the bars on the computer screen for the signal to change one way or another. I have always gotten one bar in that room since it is one flight up and the far side of the house. Low and behold but what appears to my surprise, but 4 bars. YES! Finally, no more weak signal. As I look away from the computer screen for only a bit of time and glance back once more I see a red X. It's completely lost all communication with the signal. Frantically, going to the network and sharing center page I try to resuscitate it but to no avail. I can't get back on to the once but small window of time that rendered the 4 green bars. After 4 hours (no exaggeration) I placed the once hopeful but in-vain attempt at the illusionary 4 bar dream aside along with the "Booster" back in its rightful packing to a destination I know not. Most likely far far away to a place where Champagne flows and roses grow and boosters take their place along side those other things I can't get to work. 1Low rating may be unjustified, but I smell a rat. This device came with instructions for Windows 7, Vista, and Windows 8. No mention of XP or Windows 10 so this must be an OLD product. I had troubles connecting to it but my cell phone knew it transmitting a WIFI signal. The instructions are to connect through your web browser with a specific web address, but this only brings me to a website that seems to run me around in circles - in fact, when selecting menu choices that I thought most appropriate for this device, I got sent back to Amazon.com as if I was going to buy another one.The fallback procedure is to type in the specific IP Address for the device to connect to it. But that didn't work either. So I called their support number. They told me a tech would call be back within 5 minutes. And he did. I gave him remote access to my PC, though I questioned the wisdom of allowing this based on warnings of overseas hackers and his voice indicating English was not his first language. Screens flashed and blinked as he rapidly danced around through my computer. After a while of poking around through system files I didn't know I had, he show me some sort of log file with many errors listed. And told me my PC was corrupted. He told me that he could clean it up for me for $120 ! I told him I would get back to him.My low rating may be totally unjustified, I'm not sure that perhaps my PC is corrupted and I don't know it and he's done me a favor and offered me a good deal. But I smell a rat. 1works great to extend my WiFi network for a security camera setup! We installed a security system on our property and needed internet in the barn to run it. The barn is ~ 300 feet from the house, I get a weak WiFi signal where we wanted to install the base of the security system but it wasn t strong or fast enough to reliably run the system. Running cabling to the barn might have been possiable but would have been very difficult and would have meant installing multiple routers or other ways to boost the signal to get a wire out there as it could not be done in a straight shot without digging up the driveway.Instead I bought this hopping it would do the job and I was very pleasantly surprised. I was able to position it so it gets ~ 2 bars from my Wi-Fi router in my house and then run Ethernet to the cameras. The feed is fast enough to support the DVR of the camera base and the 5 cameras currently attached to live stream through the software bundled with the security system.I am very happy with this product. The setup was very simple and straight forward, the supplied instructions to set it up were easy to follow and worked and took very little time. 5Works on older 2.4GHz system where newer dual band extenders won't... I've been using this model for years with great success to extend a very weak 2.4GHz signal. When a storm took it out, I decided to try two different higher output, dual band (2.4 & 5GHz) models. Neither would stay connected to the weak 2.4GHz only signal. Every time the signal got a little weak, they would drop out and take at least 10 minutes to reengage, if they did at all. This model is 2.4 only, and cruises through minor disruptions and reacquires the signal very quickly if dropped. Highly recommended.Oh, also, although this is an older model and the instructions don't mention Windows 10, it worked just fine on both by Windows 7 Professional and Windows 10 computers, and both iPhone and Android connections. 5Amped Elite Service is definitely among the Elite, Excellent I purchased an Amped Wireless Smart Repeater (Wireless-300N) from Amazon.com. The signal gain in another part of my house was not what I needed or expected from the Smart Repeater. Thus, I purchased an Amped Wireless Powerline NANO AV500 network adapter kit from Walmart.com. (I purchased from Walmart in case I had to return the product locally.) After installing the network adapter kit I began experiencing problems with my Xfinity cable modem/wireless router. After five days of frustration and missed appointments from the Xfinity "cable guy", I turned to Amped Wireless's Elite Service. The Amped Wireless service representative, Andrew - Concierge #108, called me back within a short while and worked with me nonstop to resolve the issue. Seems the Powerline adapter was not intended to work with the Smart Repeater as the Smart Repeater is a wireless-only device. Andrew directed me to download a firmware upgrade to convert the Smart Repeater to a wireless access point. He then walked me through all of the needed checks to ensure everything was working as it should. I now have a moderate to strong WiFi signal in all areas of my house and in the near vicinity outside, and my Xfinity issues were resolved in the process. Great Service from Andrew and Amped Wireless Elite Service. I highly recommend Amped products over other such products because of the excellent support.Thanks. 5Wonderful and cheap!!! I currently have a Fios Internet only 50 mbps plan for a 4-floor household. As such, I knew there would be problems with signal being distributed evenly and smoothly. The signal was horrible in the basement, and slightly bad on the 1st floor (Router is on the 2nd floor). I figured instead of renting an additional device from Verizon every month for about $30, that i'd just buy this device instead. I was worried about installation, that it was the easiest thing ever, and the instructions were very helpful and easy to understand! Once I set this device up in the basement, the signal started picking up better and was stronger in the basement! Just be aware that it can only be so far away from the location of the router. It states that if the room you choose to install this in has less than 70% signal from the get-go, installing the device will not help the situation. 5
