Customer Reviews

This device provides you a good bang for your buck! I purchased three of these devices for Christmas gifts (including one for me). My five star rating is based on the fact that I am fully aware that this is not a top of line digital frame because I did my research; so my expectations were already in perspective. When reading the reviews, I was a bit concerned about purchasing it, because they were fairly mixed. However based on this being a lower-end model, this device provides you a good bang for your buck. The initial setup was easy. The quality of the photo display is quite good for a lower end model. I loaded the photos on an SD Card (16 GB) from my computer (only used a fraction of the space with 200+ photos). Eventually I'll purchase a nano jump drive and load the photos there instead, just because that's my preference for storage. The device also came with a Mini USB Cord to allow direct connect to your computer for Picture downloads. It also includes 512 MB on-board storage (actually it's 3 GB), but I doubt seriously if I will use it. The one challenge I encountered was the presentation of photos in the Portrait display mode being displayed incorrectly. The device allows for you to rotate it via the remote control for the purpose of the current display. However, it will not be saved and the next time the photo is cycled through it will return to the original display mode. To resolve this issue, I download a free jpeg converted (jpeg lossless converter) to ensure the photos were in the correct display mode on the storage device (i.e., Jump Drive, Storage Device). This resolved this issue and allowed the photos to remain in the correct display format. While it does not have a motion sensor on the device, it is equipped with a timer to power the device on and off based on time & day (remember, this is a lower end model). This was not only a nice gift for myself, but those that I gave it to, also loved it. (Hint: Load it up with some great photo memories before giving it as a gift.) It's packed with several features that I was not expecting, but are great little add-ons...Alarm Clock, Calendar, Clock. For a lower end digital frame, it accomplishes everything it advertises and more. If your expectations are properly set for what you are purchasing, you will not be disappointed by this device. 5Great frame, great quality, great value My 10 year old Boxer dog recently made his transition and I wanted a digital frame so we could see daily. This frame has awesome picture quality. I love that it also plays video and has an automatic timer to power the frame on/off. The remote is convenient but the buttons are difficult to press due to the small size. Who needs a remote to a digital frame anyway? The few things that I would've loved (but would've also driven the price upward):(1) If it flipped automatically between pictures and video. The frame plays both, but not at the same time. You can very easily change the setting from images to video, so I rotate between the two each day.(2) If it displayed in portrait format. The frame displays all pics and video in landscape. It doesn't automatically rotate the image. You'll have to prop ther frame against something to properly display videos recorded in portrait or they will show sideways.Again, these features are certainly available in more expensive frames but for the price, this frame can't be beat! 4Everything I needed and expected I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my mom. I wouldn't say it is as elegant as a hand-picked frame might be for a regular photo, but it definitely met my expectations and looks even better than the product photo. For the $48 I paid for it, I couldn't be happier.I pre-loaded a separate memory card with a few hundred photos and popped it in. Works like a charm. I think there is some built-in memory, but I just used a larger memory card. The display is very bright and crisp. The brightness, contrast and back-light can all be adjusted to your liking as well. There are several features that I think are worth noting.1. You can have the pictures display randomly which is great. You can even choose of randomize the animations/transitions.2. There are various options for how you want the photo display such as "Fit to Screen", "Fit to width", "Fit to Image", etc3. You can tell it to rotate portrait images, but I believe your camera needs to be set to embed this in your photos as well.4. There is an auto on/off feature so the frame can be off while you sleep in come back on in the morning.5. Although I am not using this capability, the frame can play videos and music, but I am not sure that you can have it switch between videos, music, photos automatically. I believe you have to choose just one at a time. One minor gripe is that the way the AC power plugs into the frame causes it to jut out a bit from the side and is slightly visible on a table or on the wall. The power port is just too close to the site and the plug itself is straight as opposed to a bent, 90 plug that would have remained hidden. This is why I gave it 4 stars. Also, there is a remote which is nice, but it isn't the most responsive remote ever. I felt that I had to be directly in front of the frame and fairly close to it. Not a big deal for me.We have barely used it, so I can't vouch for the long-term build quality and performance just yet. 4Not easy to use. Photos display sideways. Returning it. This photo frame isn't very easy to use right out of the box. I first tried to put photos on a USB drive but then when I inserted it, it said the file wasn't supported. I copied all the of the exact same photos onto the internal memory and they worked. I didn't change anything. Like some others have said, some of the portrait photos display sideways on the frame even though they are the correct orientation in the file. Also there is no option to display the photos randomly. They way they are ordered in the memory is how they display on the slideshow. It also needs to be plugged into an outlet in order for you to transfer photos to it from your computer through the USB cord. I will be returning this. Not worth my money. 2Super awesome product! I love this photo frame. Bought as Christmas gifts for my 2 sons. Created a slideshow covering the years from their birth to their 40th birthday with 62 photos. They were very old photos of different sizes and not digital, but the quality of them on the frame was crisp, colorful, and excellent. It was very easy to set up and I love the fact you can use SD cards or flash drive as well as connecting to computer. One big plus is the remote control which will make it simple to use for those not electronically minded. After all, everyone knows how to use a remote. The only negative is the power cord which is very short, only about 3 feet, which is not good for people with old houses and very few outlets. However, that was easily fixed by purchasing a power extension cable which added 10 feet. Overall an excellent product and I would highly recommend. 5What a pain! Quality is decent It is a good price, but the "easy of use" is very misleading. After plugging it in and attempting to add image and video files to the internal memory it didn't matter what file type I converted the video the digital photo frame would come up with "Not Supported File". Going to Aluratek's website has an FAQ section with this information:Playing movies (Internal memory models only)The recommended filetype for playing videos on the frame is the .avi video filetype with the XVID video codec and the MP3 audio codec. The recommended dimensions are 720x576. The recommended framerate is 24fps or less. Here is the link of the site I used to convert my videos to AVI.http://www.online-convert.com/result/9387d14282de3a585165e029c372d635 3Not impressed This frame looks good and shows the photos nicely. My problem is that the user interface is clunky and hard to use. It also lacks features that would make it great. For example, I couldn't figure out how to get the photos to play randomly without having the crazy various transitions play randomly also. In other words, I wanted the photos to play randomly but not have all the transitions play randomly. (The transitions are how the photos wipe from one to the next, like zig zag or fade, etc.) . Another feature I really wanted was the ability to put images and video clips in the same folder and have them play through. But you must EITHER select photos or videos. And finally, I found the auto on/off timer very confusing to set in the menu. Oh, and one more thing, it really bugs me how every time it powers up, it starts with the same photo instead of a random one when it is set to random mode. It even plays the photos in the same "random" order every time. 2the 2 that stopped working out of the blue were gifts to my family members and its pretty embarrassing when my family has to shi I bought 4 of these digital frames and 2 out of the 4 just stopped working one day. Nothing happened to them they just stopped working after a month of having it plugged in and setup. Of course, the 2 that stopped working out of the blue were gifts to my family members and its pretty embarrassing when my family has to ship a gift back to me from out of state. I can be pretty understanding with tech items, as nothing last forever, but to stop working for no reason after a month of using it is BAD NEWS BEARS. I purchase everything from Amazon and this is my first experience of an item(s) being insufficient after buying it. I now know not to buy this again and wouldn't recommend it to other buyers either. I will be going with a more well known Brand next time. Makes me more weary of buying other tech items from Amazon next time around. I'm also out the cost of both digital frames given I'm not able to return it or exchange it given its past 30 days. If the product isn't going to last or each frame made has a "hit or miss" lifespan than it should come with a 1-3 year warranty if it stops working. Exchange should be an option at least. I would consider this before you buy it. We loved the frames when they were working, too bad it was for just a few short months. DON'T BUY THIS ONE without warranty. SUPER DISAPPOINTED 1Do not buy this! This frame was a huge disappointment. The 4GB internal memory was the whole reason I purchased the frame however there was no way to change or remove the media once it was transferred to the frame. You can technically remove photo and video files from the "Files" section however the photos and videos that you transfer onto the device get burned into the internal memory in the "Photo" and "Video" sections. The rotate button on the remote did not work; we could not rotate any images or videos once on the device, and the videos, though right-side-up on my computer before transferring, were sideways or upside down on the frame. I took the time to edit a custom video in iMovie in an attempt to fix the composition and get it consistent; this worked but I had NO WAY to remove the videos I originally transferred to the frame, so in order to see the correct video, you had to watch all of the upside down videos anyway. This is so irritating and the frame is a gift for my Nana's 90th birthday. It was a waste of time and money and given how close we are to her birthday after troubleshooting the frame for a few nights, we now have to give it to her all messed up. So upsetting. The Amazon reviews and the manufacturer's website (which was periodically down during my troubleshooting) offered no solutions for these issues. 1Not bad, but needs longer display times. It works pretty well, is decent value, and the image quality is fine. It's a little flimsy, and doesn't feel or look like a really high grade item, but it does a perfectly good job of showing photos. Contrary to what others are saying, it does automatically turn on and start showing photos automatically - you don't need to set anything, just leave it alone and it goes to work. I only have one beef, and it's kind of major - when set to rotate through your selection of pictures, the longest time any one picture can be left up is 10 seconds. That is just not long enough - I have another one and it's much nicer to leave photos up for maybe even an hour or maybe even more - the rapid changing means that within a day you've probably seen the entire set of photos. Not only that, it's really distracting in a living room - people's eyes keep going to it as it changes, and it becomes the centre of attention. That's the job of a slideshow, not a picture frame. It's much more fun, and less distracting if it's just part of the furniture and each photo really has time to be absorbed. 3
