Maybe it is OK for dressing an already sharpened blade but I cannot get it to work right. As a beginner, it is frustrating just starting out with equipment specific for this purpose and not get it to work properly. 3How well it works on sharpening hedge clippers.I have a scythe but have not used it for ages however I believe this stone would work well on it. What I was mainly interested in was sharpening the wavy cutting edges on our favorite hedge clippers and it did a great job of that, The first sharpening took about twenty-five strokes per blade and produced a razor sharp edge. Now all I need do is touch the blades up with four or five strokes each when they begin to dull. Nice stone, fits the hand well and cuts agressively. 5I don't think this is designed for what it is namedThe first one came broken, but that was promptly replaced. Thanks!I don't understand why a sharpening stone needs to be textured in a rough approximation of a season rasp.It's too thin, so I can't get my hands on it and use it.So it will never touch my scythe until I find somebody that can show me why it is cut like it is and how to use it safely. 2Wish for a twinThis is a good scythe stone - good enough, but it would be nice to have an accompanying fine grit stone. It would also be nice to have a good scythe anvil to take into the field so you can peen your edges and save steel. 5Still worksWorks well, but dropped it on accident and it broke in two. 3super simplevery simple, not much to say. only reason i give it 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that i think a puck is a better option for a scythe. 4My blades are Razor sharp now!I like to use hand tools, the files I had were just not sharpening my hoes and other blades. This stone is perfect, it is lightweight and puts a razor edge on my blades with a small amount of effort.I am glad I ordered three of them, one for the barn, one for the shed, and broke one in half so I can keep one I'm my pocket and the other half in the house. 5
