Customer Reviews

too expensive for what it is.too expensive for what it is. They tend to work their way off the trailing edge - need to check regularly3Nice idea, but poor executionI own a plane that needs gust locks (my flaps don't lock up). These things don't cut the mustard. They don't grip, are difficult to sinch, and the locking mechanism allows the nylon webbing to slip. They should have used metal locking hardware or something. I can't get them to stay on my plane for a week, usually finding all four of them on the ground when I return to my plane. Nice idea, but poor execution. . . . pretty worthless IMHO.1Do not stay on wings. Fall off regularly. As like other reviews, it's a great idea however the lock mechanism does not tighten the strap and does not hold it tight. I have only had mine 6 weeks or so and have had them fall off a hand full of times already.1Great ProductA "Must Have" gust lock. Takes the place of bungee cords and other items used to keep ailerons locked. Very user friendly. Adjusts easily and fits perfectly. I recommended this product.5Check for fit before you purchaseI purchased it for a rudder lock on my 172... there is nothing quick or convenient about this, in fact it is a complete non fit, I gave it to a friend to use on his aircraft... I don't know if it worked for him???Take off your belt and latch the strap into the buckle, creating a loop, if you can't slip the closed loop between the wing and control surface this gust lock will not work for you.I disassembled the gust lock and laced the strap through the opening between the rudder and the vertical stabilizer. It took way too long and in fact this is not how it was designed to function, but even when I choose to take the time to do this the strap stretches and doesn't hold as tight as a gust lock should hold.1it is a good idea; howeverThis product will not work as advertised. In theory, it is a good idea; however, the latch is defective. The latch will not hold the belt securely. After securing the gust lock in place, tightening and latching the belt lock, the belt slips easily through the latch, allowing the gust lock to sit limply and fall off with the first gust.1Not suited to RV-12 RudderDidn t work the RV-12 rudder as a gust lock2UnimpressedNote that I wanted these as a rudder lock. My 172 doesn't have a control lock hole or pin setup on the yoke, but I can fasten my seatbelt around the yoke, which works well for everything except rudder. I figured this product would work okay.I was wrong. First off, by design, you can't slide this through the hinge area w/o removing one side of the lock completely. And, to do that, you have to cut the end of the strapping off since it's sewn double thick to prevent you from doing exactly that.So I went ahead and did it and tightened it down. Now, tightening is not intuitive on this. You think you can just bend and fold the tab in place. Not so, you have to grab the strap, too, and bend both at the same time. It's cumbersome and counter-intuitive.Finally, and worst of all, this does't even hold the rudder in place, since the rudder itself tapers back to a thin edge from the vert stab. Since the lock can't make purchase on the tapering edge, the rudder sways side to side like the lock isn't even there. So, for my needs, completely ineffective. Looks like I'm using the bungie or ratchet strap idea instead.Yes, it works fine for ailerons, flaps, elevator. No luck with the rudder.3IneffectiveLike the other reviews state, this does not work. Completely ineffective. Waste of money. Doesn't stay on rudder, clasp is poorly engineered.1
