Customer Reviews

excellent axial fans for commercial useUsed in a commercial cooler victory vur5 refrigerated case. They are imo better than the originals and even came with plugs. Perfect fit and high speed air flow. Couldnt be more pleased with these5Works perfectly, for me.This is exactly what I wanted and exactly what I expected. These are high-speed fans for moving LOTS of air. Yes, you hear them, but they are not all that loud.. it's a little like hearing the tires of a car, on a hot or wet road... mostly, you just tune it out. I run high end graphics, and this has solved a cooling issue I had. only downside is, the holes that you would normally use to screw them on are slightly smaller than the "standard" case-fan holes... normally, this wouldn't be an issue bbut, the frames ARE metal. I simply used a glue-gun in the corners to attatch.. if you REALLY want to use screws, you could simply use machine screws.. probably 10-42 or 10-24, with a nut and washers.5Can't Beat An AxialI'll review this however I had to exchange it for the other 1238 model due to my own negligence. I did not realize Axial made more than one 1238 and accidentally purchased this one instead of its quieter counterpart the LS1238A. This particular fan was designed with open-ended wires giving you the option of either hard wiring or plugged. Don't let that intimidate you. The wiring is easier than you think, especially if you're only adding a plug. There's no doubt this model lives up to the quality as all the other Axial fans. It was just WAY louder than the exchanged model (LS1238A). As a side note: The sound the 18-22-watt produces is identical to what a bulky desktop from the early 2000's would sound like on boot-up.5Exact replacement for my old unit that's been getting a bit noisy after many yearsBought this to replace one that's been in continuous operation for several years (long enough that I forget when I put it in place to help ventilate my basement). The one in current use is getting a bit noisy, but not enough that I've gotten around to replacing it, so I can't really comment on the new one's noise level other than I expect it to be really quiet based on past experience with this product. The new one is exactly as expected and should be a simple replacement in my custom enclosure.5Should have believed the reviews.People complained on how noisy this fan is. I thought if I ran it with a speed controller it would make the fan run quiet. Boy was I wrong. This is supposed to be a computer cabinet fan. The ad says it can keep an attic cooler too. Damn I bet it can, but in any cabinet it is just too damn loud!2Very effective 120vac fan I used this fan to replace a low volume 120vac cooling fan in an inexpensive welder. The capacity of this fan is many times greater than the very weak fan it replaced, and it increases the duty cycle of the welder enormously. As the fan it replaced was 120vac, the replacement was very simple and did not require any voltage adjustment or regulation. This fan will work well in any application that requires a 120vac high capacity fan. 5Simply Awesome! This is a high-quality fan with solid construction and smooth operation. It moves 110 CFM which is a lot of air, so yes, there is noise, but I consider it to be moderate. These are suitable for server rooms and locations where noise is not an issue. Three of these will be going into a new custom-built cabinet housing two vintage Qualstar 1260S reel-to-reel magnetic tape drives which tend to run hot. 5Good quality fan that really moves the air! This fan really moves the air. I purchased it to use in a homemade ozone generator and it works perfectly. It does have a somewhat load roar to it but that doesn't bother me for my needs. You can defintly tell this is a quality made fan. I highly recommend purchasing the plug with the wires that plug into the connector. I thought I could solder onto the plug but there is not enough room so I bought the plug wire from amazon to go on it on amazon search Dayton 3RP10 Cordset, Axial Fan, 24in This fan has a cast aluminum casing very heavy built. I am very happy with this fan I don't think I could have found one as such good quality. I need to mention this fan runs for 2 -3 hours at a time and doesn't get hot.5Moves the air Got this to circulate the air from downstairs to upstairs through a register vent. The wood burner is downstairs and was trying to get the heat upstairs. This little fan works well at getting the air moving. The plastic is a bit flimsy but it does not effect the power. 4Considerable hum at under 50% speed.I'm using with their controller to adjust speed. At lowest speed up until about 50% there is a considerable amount of humming. I'm strongly considering going with another vendor of DC server fans that are IP67 rated and a different controller setup. This was supposed to be an 'easy' answer. Once you're above 50% the hum is gone, or the air being pushed drowns it out, either way if you're looking for 50% or higher I think they're pretty good. They appear to be able to take a beating for sure with the aluminum case, the fan impeller is plastic by the way.I do wonder if a better fan could be made using newer plastics and bearings (i.e. magnetic bearing ). Though that might again force down the road of DC only.3Cooling the enclosed motor on a Harbor Freight cement mixer.I bought it to cool the enclosed motor on a Harbor Freight cement mixer. I made a large hole in the motor shroud as large as the fan blades and mounted the fan on the outside. Only problem I had was attaching power to the electrical terminals. A proper plug with a short "pig tail" would have helped immensely but I had some .187 push on terminals that worked. (The terminals are really around .156). The air flow has been established and I expect the thermal switch in the motor will not kick off as much when under load.5Good exhaust fanUsed this to replace an exhaust fan in a bathroom. It moves more air than the centrifugal fan it replaced, makes less noise than the fan it replaced, and does not seem to be bothered by the higher humidity of the environment. I have it on a timed circuit so I can let it run for a while afterward to continue venting the room, and it works well to replace the air in the room reasonably quickly. It is not, however, whisper quiet (I got a quieter model first but it did not move as much air as I wanted; this one moves more air but at the cost of more noise). I don't mind the noise since it is quieter than the one it replaced and moves more air, but if you want a nearly silent one, look elsewhere.5Fan used in camper trailer fridgeUsed this fan in my camper trailer to better force the air draft along the back of the refrigerator so that it would run more efficiently. The system cools down much faster and cooler with the fan in operation. Achieves around 10 degrees cooler final fridge temp.5
