    This also means that very briefly they will make a nice heater under higher currents Low cost set of alligator clips. It might not affect everybody, but these have a fairly high resistance (about an ohm). This means that every amp of current that flows in them will drop a volt. This also means that very briefly they will make a nice heater under higher currents. I think leads like this probably ought to be made with more robust (low resistance) wire. One other minor quibble, it feels like the inside of the little rubber boots that surround the clamps is very slippery. When trying to open the clamp, sometimes it can squirm around in there a bit. 3The are fine, just two The are fine, just two... bits of info. The insulation around the clips are very slippery, so when you open the jaws, the bits inside the insulation that you are pressing keep slipping, so it takes a bit of getting your fingers just right to keep the jaws open long enough to clip onto whatever.. My second point is the wire is very thin...I did not see the gauge mentioned in the description, but it is extremely thin, i'd guess 18gauge or a bit thinner... so not good for high current use. 4No multimeter/alligator paired cables in package Fraud. No multimeter cables in the package. 2 sets of 10 normal alligator clip-ed cables at both ends, for a total of 20 identical cables, received.10 should have been Multimeter cables should have multimeter connector at one end and alligator clip on the other end. 1I didn't check them for resistance or anything like that. I used them for a few months and was first annoyed at the slippery plastic that causes the alligator clip to rotate 90 deg inside the plastic sheath if you don't pinch it just so.Then I spent 2 days trying to figure out a bug in my software on a board that was getting power by these clip leads and it turned out the ground lead was not conducting very well so I was getting huge ground loops.I found 2 other leads that did not make any connection whatsoever.It cost me a fortune in lost time. 1Not all leads are created equal. I bought one "Elenco TL-6 Alligator Lead Set, 10-Piece, 14 inches" for $4.68 (sold by Amazon) and one "E-Outstanding 2 Set (10 PCS/Set) 14 Inch Double-ended Crocodile Clips Cable Alligator Clips Wire Testing Wire" for $6.29 (sold by E-outstanding). Please note that the Elenco set was really a an Elenco product. Make sure yours is an Elenco product or buy the cheaper product knowing its limitations. Please note that I have no affiliation with Elenco.Elenco TL-6 Alligator Lead Set, 10-Piece, 14 inches:I tested each of the leads with power supply set at 10V with a 2 amp current limit. I then measure the drop across each lead with a Fluke 114 meter. These leads had a minimum drop of 33.9 mV and a maximum drop of 53.5 mV. The average resistance of the leads was 27 milliohm. I also tested one of the leads at 10 amps. The voltage drop at 10 amps was 236.9 mV. I kept the 10 amp load on for ~30 seconds without damaging the test lead. These leads were made from UL1015 20 AWG 105 degree C 600V wire. Please note that the test lead was on the back of the power supply for the 10 amp test and thus it's not in the picture. These are good leads for the money.E-Outstanding 2 Set (10 PCS/Set) 14 Inch:I tested each of the leads with power supply set at 10V with a 2 amp current limit. I then measure the drop across each lead with a Fluke 114 meter. These leads had a minimum drop of 1.37 V and a maximum drop of 1.79V. The average resistance of the leads was 755 milliohm. I also tested one of the leads at 10 amps. The voltage drop at 10 amps was about 10 volts. The lead melted before I could take a picture or write down the actual voltage drop (less than 5 seconds). These leads were from an unmarked small gauge wire. These leads are of questionable quality and should only be used at low voltage and low current applications. 2Nice selection of lead lengths Nice selection of lead lengths, and all seem to be of reasonable quality.I love the fact that I can easily create a breakout box for a connector or various random wires using these clips.I have used these instead of a breadboard when explaining basic electronic circuits to my young children, and they love just how tactile these make the experience for them. 5Useless. Clip slips around inside sleeve. Poor connections on some of the clips, and the plastic sleeve is so slippery it's almost impossible to squeeze them open without using two hands. Whoever selected the flexible sleeve obviously never tried to use them -- they are incredibly hard to open because the metal jaws slip inside the sleeve and immediately rotate 90 degrees.
