Customer Reviews

Hard to get good results. I'll be switching back to "standard" lead free paste.I'm not sold on Bismuth / Tin solders. I'd say unless you specifically need this formula, it's better to stick with regular lead-free paste. It just doesn't seem to have the same flow and surface tension of the regular solders. It seems to go down easy (I was stenciling it) and it's good to work with in that respect, but I've spent all day tweaking temperature profiles in the reflow oven and I just can't get it to be as nice and clean as a classic lead or lead free alloy. It has trouble wetting in to one big continuous ball of metal, and this is in spite of tweaking soak and TAL times all afternoon, and even going at it with a hot air gun. It just leaves balls behind. It might be OK on larger pitch components, but I can say I don't trust it for 0.8mm anything.2Great solder paste with low melting point.Worked great for me. The low melting point is nice. I used it to solder a copper shim to a CPU heat sink and correct a poor contact issue. It turned out perfect.5Not for SMD IC'sAs others have mentioned, when I tried to use this stuff to solder in an SMD IC, the little balls of solder in the paste rolled around the circuit board, many lodged between the pins of nearby IC's and I was not able to clean them all out. So, I ended up discarding the circuit board. It might be okay for 2 or 3 terminal devices.1Easy to work withLow temp just like it says. Makes nice clean connections. It's a little hard to squirt out of a syringe, but slow and steady does the job without too much waste. The metal needle was clogged before I even touched it. If you need that you might want to buy some tips somewhere else.5best i've seen so farNot only does the soldering paste work quite well but the precision with which one can apply it with the syringe and two tips really hits the spot. I've had some in a regular tube, like tooth paste, and it's really hard to get where you want it, but not with this. The amount of flux vs solder is also great; it's easy to tell when the solder is about to flash to molten and so far even over-heating a little bit "just to be sure" has not led to any problems. Highly recommended.5Great low-temp solder pasteBought this to solder surface mount components to a homemade circuit boards. It s nice that the reflow temp is about a 100 degrees F lower than other pastes so you don t over heat components during the soldering process. Can be a bit messy if you don t know what you are doing or don t use a solder stencil to apply the paste.5This stuff is like magic!!!How have I never heard of low temp liquid solder paste? I have little projects I work on. This has made my life so much easier for soldering. The first time I used it was on a circuit board and worked exactly like I saw in a video on YouTube! This makes the tiniest repairs of things SUPER easy and almost enjoyable!5Good solder paste for use with small components - can be brittleTHE GOODI assemble a few hundred boards a year and this is my go-to solder paste for small components. It is easy to dispense using very-fine tips and and spreads easily. It is also easy to rework due to its low temperature profile. I have gone through 4-5 tubes over the last 2 years.THE BADBecause this is a bismuth mix, it tends to be brittle and should not be used for components that stand higher off the board or for connectors that will have pressure exerted on them. Any lateral force will shear the solder joint fairly easily. For those components use a 63/37 tin/lead mix paste as they create a higher-strength joint. The trade off is that tin/lead paste tends to be thicker so it can be harder to dispense and is not very good for very fine-pitch components.CONSIDERATIONSMake sure you follow the low-temperature profile recommended by the manufacturer. Using this paste with a high-temp profile will result in unsightly sputtering/bubbling of the flux that will require post-assembly cleaning.CONCLUSIONSThis is my go-to paste for small components and I use it for all boards that don't have large components or SMD connectors on them. If that is your use-case, this is the best paste I have found.4Good for some purposes.I've been using this to build prototype boards for testing before having them produced professionally. The good:Great for general individual basic SMD components, 0805s, 0603s, SOT-23, no problem. I can do hundred of these components in minutes with a heat gun with no issues. The bad:Awful for fine pitched pins. Always solder blobs to deal with and it doesn't take to solder braid and flux at all. I can't suck up the solder bridges. In this regard it is awful, but I've just learned to not use it for components with fine pitch pins.4Works great. This solder paste works really well. I ve used it with a hot air iron and my homemade reflow oven. I agree with other review that solder balls do like to wander around the board sometimes.5
