Customer Reviews

Impressive for outdoor Rock Speakers!!!!!I am an audio nut, but hate paying for companies high priced marketing. When I bought these speakers I was expecting them to sound a little better than my outdoor mono-price speakers. Setup was a breeze, the wiring was already ran around the pool. I powered up the receiver, BOOM!! I was blown away. They are crisp, clear, and clean. Bass is pretty good too, but I still might get the subwoofer. I read a zillion reviews on these and you will not be disappointed. Just buy!!! 5Critical water protection part easily breaks off the speaker due to the speaker's own weightAt the base of the unit where the wire connection is supposed to be protected by a plastic cap\nut has broken off on both units simply by lying them down on their bottoms. No violence or additional weight was ever applied to them, they just seem to have broken off. Now exposing the bare wire and cable connection terminals to the weather. So much for being an outdoor speaker after the next rain. They are great sounding speakers, but I have to send it back. Too bad TIC couldn't have opted for a better quality of plastic for the connector grip. Horrible materials quality. 1Decent, but not durableI bought this pair a little over a year ago to provide sound around my hot tub. They looked good and went well with the flagstone accents that we have in our pool area. The sound was decent, but I've learned the hard way that they are not very sensitive. Compared to other sets of speakers that I have setup on different channels in my backyard, these require a higher level on the volume knob to get decent volume levels. But, the kicker is that, after just over a year, one of the speakers is dead. It filled with rain water and has apparently shorted or rusted out internally.I had thought I would just get a replacement. But, since these rock speakers (and others on Amazon) are sold in pairs only, I decided to try the some of the OSD brand ones to see if they hold up better. They have higher sensitivity ratings, so they should at least be a little easier to drive. 3Great deal, Great soundI was looking for an inexpensive set of outdoor speakers for my Christmas light display this year. These rock speakers are not only inexpensive but they sound great too. I set them out in the flower beds on each side of my driveway and they blended in perfectly. The speakers are also made very well, they are sturdy and heavy too. I never needed to turn them up loud enough to see if they distorted but at the volumes levels I used the base mid range and treble levels sounded fine. I would highly recommend these speakers for someone who needed a set of inexpensive well made concealable speakers. One other thing, I used standard green outdoor electrical extension cord as speaker wire, just cut off the ends and use the black and white wire as positive and negative speaker connection. The diameter of the extension cord is just right for the weather connection on the speaker. 5Perfect so farThe sound is amazing with the last rock speakers I used a powered sub woofer for the lows but that's not necessary with these. they look ok I just planted some plants around them and they look great. Price was very good compared to the others I was considering so overall these speakers are a great value. I will note that I have only had them in service for about three months so how they hold up is still a question. 5Looks like real stone and sounds great! Our most expensive speaker around the pool, but it's the one that sounds the best! Very crisp, clear sound, and nice big size! It looks great... hard to tell the difference between this "rock" and the actual real rocks/boulders in our landscaping! I would definitely buy another one of these. 5They sound fantasticBought two of these and they blend well with my natural rocks in my back yard. The price was right at only $114 from Amazon for such a large speaker from a well known company such as TIC. A great deal imo. I drive them as a 4 ohm speaker, using both connections for dual voice coil operation. You would be hard pressed to discern that the music is coming from only one speaker, let alone detecting the rock amongst the actual rocks! I love them! 5Sounded quite good, but leaked water so bad I was never going to keep or buy again.Sounded quite good, but leaked water so bad I was never going to keep or buy again. Actually bought twice (fool me twice, shame on me) and the first set had a rattling loose screw in the enclosure so I sent them right back for a new set. The decent sound warranted a second chance. Then only one or two rainy days inevitably led to the fact that I was not going to use this company anymore for outdoor speaker purchases. I'm just glad I found out relatively sooner rather than later. 2Great speakers! Was a bit worried due to a lack of recent reviews, but took a chance...and I'm glad I did. Not only does the color (canyon) of the speakers match my outside perfect, but the sounds of the speakers are quite impressive. My setup involves running a speaker wire from an inside Pioneer receiver. After drilling a hole in the wall, I ran the wire around the perimeter of my yard (which is going to be buried, I hate wires showing) to the speakers. The connections for which you attach the speaker wire are very sturdy and I was impressed that the bottom of the rock speaker has a notch if you were trying to lie the speaker flat. The notch would allow the speaker rock to sit flush without pinching the wire (an undocumented feature in the reviews I read). I live in Las Vegas, so I'm hoping these speakers will hold up in the heat and will keep you posted if anything changes. I did however take the advice from different reviewers and I'm using a 14 gauge speaker gauge wire which feels just right.I have a pretty decent size backyard and I'm fortunate that the speakers are sitting on top of a 5 foot retaining wall, which I think will help with the projection of the speakers. When I bought these speakers, I had a few goals in mind. I wanted a decent sound for a decent price. I wanted a low key style speaker rock that wasn't too large but wasn't too small. I wanted something that would not have any exposed wires or marking that would give away too easy that it was an outdoor speaker. I also wanted a clean sound that not necessarily focused on bass, but rather the mid and high sounds of audio...especially so it could take on the noise of my waterfalls which are quite loud. So far, I'd have to say that ALL of my expectations have been met.I'm also using the Apple airport express to "beam" my music from my upstairs computer to the receiver downstairs, which in turn, powers the outdoor speakers. It certainly feels very cool that I not only use my iPhone to operate the music, but adjust the volume to the outdoor speakers as well. 5Balanced and detailed sound...Near-audiophile sound in an outdoor Rock speaker (a speaker that looks like a rock and makes any genre of music sound great). I have several other models of TIC rock speakers and these are the best-of-the-best. Keep in mind that the wattage rating means almost nothing and is simply marketing hype. However, the source and amplifier will make a big difference... the better the source material and the cleaner the amp with ample headroom, the better the sound. I stream high sample-rate digital files that connect to a quality Denon amp via fiber (Toslink) and get converted through the Denon's DAC and output through oxygen-free, 12 gauge copper cable to the speakers. These replaced a smaller set of TICs that only got better with time, so I expect these to sound even better by next summer. 5
