Customer Reviews

Unlocked the full potential of the VersaLink B605 Multifunction PrinterThis product was easy to install (it literally just snaps into place) and works perfectly in our Xerox VersaLink B605 Multifunction Printer. In fact, before installing this network adapter, all we could really do was make copies and print from USB in our Church Library. Now the rest of the "multi-functions" are unlocked! It pretty much worked right out of the box: turn off the unit, remove the cover plate, plug in the adapter, and turn the unit back on. Then just use the control panel to go into settings, make WiFi the primary connection (default is Ethernet), select the WiFi network and enter the network password to connect. Not perfectly intuitive, but doable for most. There isn't an on-screen guide - you just have to press through the options and figure it out (obviously you need to select the proper network and enter the password, so play around until you find those options).I was able to successfully print right away form both my Windows 10 Laptop and my Android phone. However, I had to go to the Xerox site and download the Xerox Smart Start software (and run it) to get the needed drivers for my PC, and a Xerox plug-in downloaded from google play the first time I printed from my phone. So not seamless, but not too bad.Connecting to the network allowed for two added benefits: a firmware update (which obviously requires a network connection) AND finally getting the unit to stop printing a Startup Page upon every power or restart cycle (why a network connection is needed to adjust this setting is beyond my reasoning - what a waste of paper and toner)! Getting to these additional settings requires use of the "Embedded Web Server." Just type the unit's IP address (which can be found via its control console under settings/info) into a browser connected to the same network and the Embedded Web Server will automatically launch. Logging in under the Admin account is easy since the default password should work (see the Xerox Support site - Google it). Anyway, there are lots of additional settings here, but I was just glad to finally be able to turn off automatic printing of the Startup Page!As mentioned above, setting up the network connection could be a little more user friendly, so 4-stars. 4see belowThe printer has been completely overshadowed by the extreme difficulty to install the printer on a modern up to date computer. Based on the previous reviews I signed up the have the Amazon Installation service do the install. Although a sharp technician, even with the Xerox support on the phone it could not be installed. I still have error messages on the printer and can not do wireless printing. I would not recommend this as anything has to be better. Xerox does not appear to support small businesses or at least this product. BTW, the printer might be okay, just can't tell as yet. 2Needed for Xerox printer to be wirelessNeeded to make Xerox printer wireless. It does not say that on printer info. The printer ad is misleading 5Easy to use.Snaps right into place, without any issues. Save the printer's removable access bay cover, though, just in case it is needed in the future. 5Don't bother, it does not work anyway, and will simply piss you offThis does not work with Windows 10 of with most wireless routers. It will connect to the wireless router, but if simply states that it is purposely disabled from communicating with the router. Also, you will have to assign a static IP address and not use DHCP, which it will not connect with and simply provides a screen that state "unallowed" even with administrator privelages. 1not totally happy with ithaving trouble getting it to work. i can print off of my smart pones, but not from the computer. i am sure i am doing something wrong, but still is frustrating. 2I haven't gotten it to work yet. I installed ...I haven't gotten it to work yet. I installed it and have tried all the directions I can find and nothing. 1An extra 50 bucks to get what you want, a Wi-Fi enabled Copy MachineIt works great. My only question is why didn t Xerox come with it? It s nice to be able to put a xerox copy machine anywhere in the office without having to rely on an ethernet cord. The Wi-Fi capability is standard in most devices but this device gives you the option to use ethernet only or for an extra 50 bucks to buy the Wi-Fi adapter. 5As ExpectedThe Xerox printer I got was not wireless compatible out of the box. This was an easy plug and play, and the menu on the printer itself made it easy to hook up to my home network. I wish the printer was WiFi enabled as purchased, but this add on made it easy to rectify. 4So easy to use & get working!I just bought a new Xerox C400 color laser printer & wanted it to be wireless. Since this is a Xerox part, I thought it would be the easiest way to do it.It's tiny: only about 1 1/2" x 1". I removed a small plastic door on the back of the printer & snapped this into the USB slot behind the tiny door I removed a plastic clip also snaps into a hole to keep it snugly in place. Then I plugged in a USB cable just below to allow a hardlink, too. I turned on the printer & followed the automatic steps the printer led me through on the printer's control screen. It asked if I wanted to use just wifi or both, so I selected both. It then asked which wireless network was mine & asked my password. After I entered those things, it told me to restart the printer, which I did.Upon restart, I selected a document on my iPhone & told it to print. It asked me to choose the printer I had just set up, which I did, then told it to print. It printed instantly. I then opened a document on my desktop computer & instantly printed that through the USB connection. I then went 60 feet away & easily printed from another desktop computer & another iPhone using wifi! The printer came with all the software preinstalled, so I didn't need to use the CD disc that came with it.It couldn't have been easier! I definitely recommend this product! 5
