Customer Reviews

You're Missing Out With This one Ordered along with the Ultima 100 angled scope (which I love) and this ring DOES fit the T-mount and it DOES fit my Canon DSLR. So, it does what it says it will do...but it's an opportunity missed and you'll end up replacing it...for the following reason. So it will make the mechanical connection, but you will find that achieving a proper focus with the camera to be just a crap shoot. The camera normally uses the electronics in the attached lens to achieve focus. The camera then confirms that it's focused and we take the pic. Even with your lens set to Manual focus, the camera tells you when you've achieved focus. When there's no lens attached to the camera body, though, (such as when using this T-mount ring) the camera's focus detection is shut down. There IS a fix, though. Look for a version of this ring that includes an "AF Confirm" chip. Celestron does not offer one as far as I know. A ring with AF Confirm will have some electrical contacts and what it does is electronically mimic a lens connection so that the camera's computer will then enable AF confirm. This means that when you manually focus the scope, the sensor in the camera uses "Contrast detection" to sense the sharpest contrast. as you manually focus, as you pass that ideal contrast point, the camera will beep and blink. It can see and confirm that sharp focus even though we can't see the difference on the tiny viewfinder or LCD. The feature (the chip) has to be built into the adapter ring, so find and buy a T-mount adapter with this feature instead of buying this Celestron ring that lacks this functionality. 2i can only say -- it is the best before buying this ring i was afraid that it will not be made from good materials specially after reading some reviews saying that it dont have the ability to lock on the body of the camera ... what i received whas really a great product and together with the Celestron t-adaptor that i ordered it is doing the job in perfect way...the ring is locking well in the body but you have first to insert it in the right way like the EF lens there is a small hole in the side of the ring that it should face the red dot in the body of canon camera then whenyou turn the ring clockwise it will lock witout any problem..my camera is Canon600Dmy telescope is Celestron skyprodigy 130 .The only problem is that i am not able to focus the image even after removing the ring and the t-adapter nd the eye piece holder from the telescope focuser the focal point in my telescope is still far away from the sensor of my Canon .. i knew from the begining that it will happen and that can be resolved by placing a Barlow lens between the telescope and my camera but as i am still waiting my barlow lens to be released from the customs i cannot give you a full rviewbut if your telescope is montinned to be an astrophotography scope this is the best and chippest t-ring to get from the market dont hesitate 5Wrong Celestron 93419 T-ring for Canon EOS I am another one of the customers who got the wrong Celestron 93419 T-ring.If it is advertised as a T- ring, with no other explanation, it should be a standard T-ring 42 mm thread. The one I got measures 47 mm thread, totally wrong.Other reviewers note that someone is packaging the wrong parts for Celestron and those parts should be recalled and corrected.Evidently it has not happened and I am the victim of a continued mistake.Correction ! My mistake. T-ring has 2 threads. The second inner one is the correct 42mm thread and fits the standard T adapter perfectly. And the EOS side fits perfectly in the Canon camera. Therefore, I must apologize for my initial mistake and upgrade the rating to 5 sstars. 5Work well once you figure it out. I have heard some people complain about how it fits. It actually works just fine and there is a white marker on it so you know exactly how to line it up. Removing it from your camera is a little tricky at first. In fact, I almost didn't think I was going to get it off. Fortunately I figured out that if you press the pin back into the camera with your fingernail, the ring will come right off. That isn't the best way to design an accessory but ultimately it works just fine. 4Fits fine on my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Fits fine on my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. There is a little mark on the side of the ring that needs to be lined up with the red dot on the camera. When getting off, the ring spins past the red dot so it may seem that the ring is stuck but once you line up the marking and the red dot, the ring comes right off. Hope to get some good shots of the moon this evening. I'm using this ring with the Celestron barlow adapter. 5T-threads too tight I have an older one of these that fits perfectly. I ordered a new one and the T-threads are far too tight. I sent it back for replacement and the replacement had the same issue. Apparently Celestron is currently having trouble with quality control for this part. 1Sloppy fit. Says right on it for canon eos. When I put my 6d on it locks in place but you can jiggle the camera and it rotates about an 1/8th of an inch back and forth .Its a shocking amount of slop. It looks good, the machining seems excellent, the finish is beautiful, the fit not so much. 2Works, but needs improvement I tested this on an EOS camera body (EOS Rebel 2000) and it does not have "stops" to prevent the ring from turning past the correct lock position. For example, when you mount a lens, even if you have the lens release button pressed, it will stop turning once the lugs are fully engaged. With this ring adapter, there are no "stops" so it can be rotated freely 360 degrees if you keep the lens release button pressed. This isn't a problem as long as you are aware of it and make sure you are careful not to rotate it past full engagement when mounting it, or past fully disengaged when removing it. But even cheap macro tubes have the appropriate stops built in so this should as well. Also, there is not a prominent "red dot" to aid in proper alignment with the camera body. The mount has a spot machined into it for the purpose, but it apparently was never painted in. A well painted dot would help to make sure everything was correctly aligned when removing the adapter ring from the camera. 3So much fun! Man! I wish I had discovered this sooner! There was a super moon not too long ago and my wife and I were out there trying to take pictures with our phones, pos cams, and a Canon T6i. They all came out pretty terrible. Surprisingly, the POS took the best pic, but that's another story. I purchased this ring to attach my 100mm Celestron spotting scope to my wife's T6i. I was so amazed at how clear the craters of the moon were. I actually only had it at about 1/2 power, because at full zoom, the moon was too big to fit in frame. So easy to install also. 5Worked Perfect! Picked up to shoot the blood moon eclipse and it worked Great. Fit nice and snug and held the weight of the camera. Used in conjunction withCelestron T-adapter for my Nexstar 6SE. See results below!. See results below! 5
