Customer Reviews

Update as of 2-10-19 THESE DON'T LAST! I bought a 3000 watt and a 1000 watt just to see if I thought they would do what I needed. Although I wont know for a few more months how well they actually do work, they seem to be just what I needed. We are moving to the Philippines where voltage is not regulated so well at times from the local suppliers. We want to take many of our 110volt things with us, and I will be taking many many portable power tools I have. I tried both of these here at home by putting 220volts into them and to make sure they would start motors with surge at start up, the 3000 watt one operated a 15 inch miter-box and everything else in lower wattage I tried with no problems. We are tacking a freezer, a fridge, and some kitchen appliances along with quite a few electronics, because good quality stuff there is very hard to find, but everything is 110volt, so need to step it down from 220 volts, just hope these will work ok on things like refrig. and freezer which need to be 24/7/365. I will go oversize with them and hope they wont overheat like some have said theirs have done.My only complaint was the packaging from Amazon, it was pathetic. These are kinda heavy items, and they along with a plug strip were all put into one way too big box with no cushioning material at all, so they had destroyed the plug strip and had also destroyed the boxes the transformers were packed in, but the transformers themselves were ok.I need to order quite a few more of these in various wattages, but think I will order them one at a time so hopefully they will pack them in smaller boxes with some cushioning materials in them.UPDATE:I bought 9 of these in sizes from 1000 to 5000 watt so we could use them to power 120v items from 220v source. We used them for small kitchen appliances, electronics and small power tools. None were ever left turned on except when being used for one or two hours at a time typically. I bought extras because I figured they would quit working and I was really right on that. In my opinion they are garbage they do not last long. Burned up one today that was just usedforthe first time charging an 18volt Milwaukee battery. It has been plugged in for no longer than 10 minutes when it started humming loudly and stopped working. It was a 3000watt size so no way it was overloaded with a small battery charger. I think I have 2 left of the 9 , one 3500watt one worked for over a year but all the rest had a life span of less than 60 days some less than 30 days. I would never buy another of this brand they are a pure waste of money, extremely bad quality.I can get them rebuilt here in Philippines using good quality parts and they last pretty well but they just replace everything inside them with new parts and only use the meter and on, off switch. 4P.o.S. I received the transformer in less than perfect shape, but it wasn't overly damaged, just a little bent up (I was actually anticipating slight aesthetical damage). I checked the input voltage switch, 220v for my area, plugged it into the wall and flipped the switch to "On" and "Zapp!" That was pretty much the end of the device. I opened it up to see if it was serviceable... I could solder this thing better at 4-years-old, seriously. I've never seen something soldered or wired so poorly. The grounding bolts were loose, as well as many wires... even the back light for the voltmeter was just kind of hanging there in place. I'm kind of disappointed that Amazon has this in their market. I'm actually kind of glad that it was instantly disabled because this transformer had way too much potential to cause damage; damage not only to devices plugged into it, but to anything else in the house that could catch on fire. For safety reasons, please DO NOT purchase this item, spend $25 more and buy a better product (according to some reviews, possibly "LiteFuze" but I don't know from personal experience yet). I have included multiple pictures as evidence of the poor craftsmanship. 1Great product...Works awesome!!! Highly recommend this!!I purchased this so I can use my small 240V welder with my small 110V generator and become a mobile welder / mechanic for side work...It works great !!! Everything is small enough that it will fit in my Jeep Grand Cherokee with lots of room to spare.Thank you Amazon!!!5UpdateUpdate........I only have this unit for 3 months and it's not working. The power light comes on but the voltage reading is below 110. Therefore it's not powering my refrigerator. I'm so disappointed. I feel robbed. I had to pay a technician to check my fridge only to find out that it was the voltage regulator. This unit was bought in September 2015 and I honestly believe I should be compensated. I've just plugged it in. I bought it for my Samsung french door refrigerator. I plugged the fridge guard to the voltage regulator and then the fridge to the fridge guard. So far all seems to be working well. I notice that there is a strange smell . I'm not sure what it is though. I will observe for a few more days. The fridge is working and the fuse for the voltage regulator is not blown so I guess it's doing the job. It's very quiet. .... no complaints there1120 V outlets stopped workingI purchased 2 of the Simran AR-5000 voltage regulators in November 2015. After 4 months, one of them stopped working for the 120 Volt outlets. The 220 V outlets are working (I tested with a meter). I only need the 120 v outlets, so this is basically useless to me now.The other is working, although the electrical plug end had to be replaced as the adapter converting it to the USA style plug was not making good contact.3This may be a good product like other 3 reviewers gave it credit forFirst, it come without instruction and seller doesn t provide for instruction. It is confusing to wire this thing up since it doesn t have anything to indicate which knob is Neutral, which Knob is Live.Second, when I flipping this converter up to see if anything writing at the bottom and find out that this unit is damaged, the bottom was deformed and 2 screws lost that causing the inside stuff got loose. It is heavy so I only find out when I lift 45 degree up and found that the things inside sliding down loosly. This may be a good product like other 3 reviewers gave it credit for, but my unit wasn t the one that deserve more than 1 star and given how much trouble I am seeking for how to get this hotwiring. I am not happy with the purchase and other buyer should be aware of getting this. The seller has very limited knowledge of what he is selling.1I was ready to receive a poor product and do re-soldering and other repairs on it I was quite indecisive to buy it looking at other reviews on Simran in general. But then Amazon do not have many stabilizers listed. Anyway I ordered from warehouse deals 'like new'. I was ready to receive a poor product and do re-soldering and other repairs on it.Received a big box with a smaller heavier box rolling around inside. Filler papers were not enough to keep it put. Inside packaging was perfect with proper Styrofoam to hold it in place. Also found a lose bolt in it. I suspect the outer packing is the culprit. The first looks kind of impressed me. Specially finding a German to usa adapter too, that is not shown in the picture, but no fuses. Over all built also looked fine. Sockets were firm enough. Not the best of the quality. Nothing is the best of the quality. Good to pass though. But some rattling noises coming form it! Opened the lid and found the main transformer missing one feet's nut and bolt - found in the box - and other 3 were very loose. Shook the SVR upside down and 3 times a washer fell down! Tightened the 3 feets' bolts and put the bolt back on the 4th one that was in a tricky place. May be that is why the assemblers left it a bit lose and in the shipping it came off? But the other 3 were lose too.Looked at the soldering - another reviewer has comments and pictures about it - and found it not as good as I will like to but not as bad as to make me redo it. I put my iron back. I have used better products. like Stavol from Japan - servo type. I think it is a very good buy for the price. Just do inspect it and do a couple of precautions like me and as suggested by another reviewer and you will be fine.Let's hope it do not die soon as some other reviewers has mentioned.I need it for a 220v country and have hardly any way to really test it in NY. I had set it to 110V input for now and connected my 1200W microwave on it to 110v output. Some testing is better than no testing. First run of 5 minutes on full power did not show any thing wrong.I may update it after some time. I need a couple of them, it is the first one.I suspect Simran people do not red these reviews. They can easily improve workman ship and quality. 3Purchased the Simran AR-1000 1000-Watt Voltage Regulator for $40Purchased the Simran AR-1000 1000-Watt Voltage Regulator for $40. The purchase was primarily overseas to go along with Magic Bullet NutriBullet Pro 900 Series which only handles 110v.The item was used to convert from 220v to 110v and the NutriBullet performed well. It's a big heavy and I would suggest looking for a compact product.4World-Wide Work Horse!!!This is the second Simran voltage transformer I have purchased, the first being an AR-4000 model. I have used them both in the UK for almost 3 years now, and have ZERO issues. One of the nice features is there is an audible "click" sound when the voltage spikes, or drops, as well as being able to see the input voltage on the meter window...and it s comforting to know that all my electronics are still getting the same even voltage they need, and their life isn t being shortened by the ever changing voltages while traveling.I have only one cautionary note of interest. Since the transformer is quite heavy, and shipping is quite unpredictable I would HIGHLY suggest that you take the cover off after pulling it out of the shipping boxes. Reason is to make sure none of the wire connections where worked loose during shipping as you may notice the transformer itself being a bit wobbly/loose. My first Simran AR-4000 had the ground wire completely disconnected from the screw it was under just from the weight of the transformer moving back and forth during shipping (it s quite heavy).5Good quality but limited ability to stead voltageSeems well built. But output voltage still seems to vary through when an air conditioner elsewhere on the circuit switches on and off. Nice touch that they included spare fuses.4Came highly Damaged and Banged externally!!!!!!!!!!All 3 Units came in a very bad Condition! Need Compensation, at least 50% of the value of the goods We bought 3. All came in a very bad condition!2CHINEESE JUNKDo not by this lie. I claims it handles 5000 watts but melted the plug and shorted out when only using 20 watts. Very low amp wire inside. In the trash it goes.1>1,000 Watts of usable power before overheating This product is grossly undersized. DO NOT expect to run more than a few hundred watts sustained load; otherwise it will melt through its insulation and eventually short circuit. I tried to load it 50% (1,500 Watts); it tripped the GCFI after a few hours. It was smoking like a chimney. I will be returning it. 1WOW works great Product did not match the advertised photo with multicolored outlets which would have been a nice safety feature. But the transformer I did receive performs well beyond expectations. Measured output exceeded stated wattage, enough to support a submerged water pump, oil furnace and refrigerator (up to 25 continuous amps {3000w} with occasional rare instantaneous start-up bursts of up to 34.7 peak amps {4164w}).The regulator function is great. Voltages stay right even when fluctuations in the supply occur.BTW the transformer came through Chicago Electronics with the brand name "Superite" not "Seven Star" 5GoodGood5
