Customer Reviews

It's amazing while it lasts... VERY thorough review This is a fantastic bluetooth keyboard and case!UPDATE: Unfortunately the hinge mechanism isn't very strong, the hinge itself is metal but it's two separate ones hastened to just plastic. One side broke entirely, and I glued it back together before the other one broke too. The keyboard itself is fine still though.Pros:Keys have surprisingly good response and is pretty great to type on for anything portable. The battery supposedly lasts an ENTIRE YEAR so far I've had it for at least a month without charging under regular daily use which is amazing as it is.Sets up quickly quickly, no hassle, and when connected responds quickly. The spring loaded holder is actually great, my tablet does not come out unless I want it to.Folds over to also function as, well, a case!Full function keyboard including caps and media keys which all work.Has built in battery check function.Pretty well made.Cons: Very minor things (at least for me)While a perfect companion for my tablet in almost every way ( Nvidia Shield K-1 8.0-Inch 16 GB Tablet (Black) ) due to being universal it partly blocked my power/lock button. While accessible, it was a little tight. Being a DIY person I just cut a bit off the one side of the holder. Being universal though your mileage may very.In line with that, make sure your buttons and slots you need sll come out of one side if you plan to keep this case on all the time.Part of how the battery lasts so long is it "sleeps" to save battery. While awesome to some, I'm the type of person who will shut it and the bluetooth on the tablet off when I don't want to use it but otherwise if it's on I want it on. More importantly, the time to reconnect is annoying. It takes a few seconds to re-establish a link when this happens. This would be lessened if it didn't disconnect by the end of an average Youtube video. At least the button you hit to wake it up is actually sent to the device after it reconnects, allowing you to type immediately but the delay bothers me.To Consider:I haven't owned it too long, but I do worry about the hinge. It's really robust looking and feels and holds great, but all of the weight is in the tablet. It supports very well on a flat surface, but sometimes I have it on my lap or I even pass it around while playing apps since after all it's a tablet. Not only do I worry about the hinge, but despite the great build quality I swear I see a little flex from the case when held from the keyboard. IT might not be that bad, but I took enough notice that I ask people to hold it and pass it a certain way when playing games. I've only had it a few months though, so it could all be in my head.Suggestion:Since it clearly does not need wires since it's bluetooth, there is no reason why it can't have a swing around hinge to just use it as a stand. Sometimes I just use my controller so it would be nice to fold it around so the screen is closer to me on a table.A good way to add weight would be to make a power bank version. The keyboard itself is low draw, so I'd even keep it's power separate. But this would add weight to the bottom to give it more balance as well as being a nice extra feature. Even could feature wireless charging??? Just a thought, but would obviously be a more expensive option. Honestly if you put those two ideas into one product, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. In conclusion, I still gave it 5 stars. Why? Because it blows the competition out of the water. There is literally NOTHING that compares to it. Sure, you could get a better keyboard. But you'd be lugging it around and need another case. Sure, it's not the best case, but it has a beastly keyboard. It also beats the typing experience of any cloth fold over keyboard, and not all of them are universal. It also works perfectly and I highly recommend my tablet to go with it. Even though the price scared me at first, no regrets at all I do genuinely love this case. Until it breaks, but I make it work. 3Adds great function and protection for tablets. I got this for my Asus Zenpad 10 and am very happy with it. The keyboard is excellent and has many good features and functions. I modified my case by drilling a hole for the rear camera and also added a holder for my stylus, as there is some extra space inside along side of the tablet.. Since this item was discounted radically from what I'd seen it priced at on other sites, I felt I could not lose trying it, and was right about that. I had one issue with the charge light staying on after repeated charging and wrote to Zagg support about it. They were very prompt and gave me advice as well as offering to replace the item if I felt it was needed. As it seems to be fully charged and works flawlessly, I decided not to return it for that one minor flaw. Typing on this keyboard is very easy even though I have large hands and find I can cook right along without much adjustment. I would recommend this item for 10 inch tablets especially if you can get it at a good price as I did. With this accessory for my Android tablet, I can go without my laptop indefinitely and may bail on Windows altogether. My only suggested improvement would be if the hinge had 360 rotation. 5Really wanted to like it, but repeating keys make it useless. Gah! I really wanted to like this. At first glance it's awesome. The sturdy plastic clamshell holds a Nexus 7 securely and fold into an easy to carry unit. The power buttons and status lights are unobtrusively placed on the edge. The keyboard layout is nice and the keys have a good feel... or so it seems. But then I tried actually typing on it. It's just awful, and the problems I've had are seen throughout other reviews, even positive ones. Fast typing can result in dropped keystrokes. The right-arrow key is sunken somewhat, making it difficult to press securely. But the worst, and unforgivable, feature are repeated keys.I'm not talking a bounced character here and there. I'm talking about pressing a key and getting 8-12 extra repetitions of the character. It's like the key is stuck down, even though it physically isn't.I could live with this if it happened only occasionally, but it's every second or third sentence. It's a frequent problem that makes a really promising package simply unusable. 1Not Perfect but Good for thr Price Before I say anything else, let me say that for the price, I think this is a good keyboard and case. It isn't perfect, but it is functional. As you can see from the photos, the laminated cover has started to bubble. This is after just a few days use.The second photo reveals a stuck key. It is the bottom right arrow key. This has not affected the function. The "i" key has done the same off and on. When it gets stuck, it is more difficult to press and will sometimes produce the "i" multiple times. Not pictured is the fact it either never fully charged or there was an issue with the indication light. Either way, the keyboard did pair up with my Kindle Fire and works fine.If I were making the decision now I would likely look for a higher end model, but again, for the price, it seems to be sturdy and will get the job done. 3Got this keyboard for a steal on Amazon! I got this Bluetooth keyboard to use with my 7 inch Kindle. It fits (almost) perfectly and connects without any issues. It works well with the OneNote app. I use it to type out lists or email drafts while offline. It turns my Kindle into a small laptop and is comfortable to type with once you get the hang of it. I can use it during my train commute and it is so much smaller than the usual laptops you see on the train. More lightweight and has a neat little kickstand at the back that keeps it up at the perfect angle for me to use. Got it for a whopping 8 bucks last year and it is worth every penny and then some. I have gotten so much use out of it and I am glad I grabbed it when I did. 5A great keyboard for real typing I'm a pastor who does two sermons a week. After scribbling my notes into a notebook for the first four years, I was given a nice Asus tablet.I have a nice Bluetooth 85% keyboard, but since I do my writing in my recliner, I needed a way to hold the tablet at a good angle and touch type.I tried a cheaper keyboard case, but the apostrophe key was off in some weird spot. I also like to write stories about boating, and it broke my whole stream of thought to go fishing for the apostrophe. The zagg case had the best recommendation from a few tech sites, so I figured I'd give it a try.It synced nicely and continues to every time.I now can sit in my recliner and pound out the sermons or stories easily, then pop the tablet out and take it to the pulpit. I'm an airplane mechanic for a living, so I have extra muscle in my hands and fingers, and even though the zagg keyboard is just a bit smaller than the 85% keyboard I used before it doesn't cause any issues touch typing. The only issue I've ever had is sometimes the Bluetooth connection gets wacky and I start to get repeating or skipped letters. Restarting the tablet fixes this problem, so it must be an Asus issue.I have had the keyboard battery die a few times, but it will allow you to type while it is charging, so that isn't an issue.I've been using this case over 6 months now and the only thing that I notice about it is that the friction device in the hinge has some play in it, meaningthat I can wiggle the tablet back and forth a fraction of an inch before the friction kicks in and holds the cover at the angle I want. This isn't really an issue though, just an observation, normally the lid will be tilted back and gravity holds the screen from wiggling.I actually thought the kickstand would also break off, but it's tougher than I thought. 5Serviceable, no bells and whistles. I purchased this to turn my Amazon Fire 7 into an on the go writing implement, both for my own personal fiction (so lots of typing at once) and accessing shared scheduling documents for my job (quick use preferred). It works well on both counts, turning on very quickly, linking with the tablet with no problems at initial pairing or after, and fairly comfortable to use. I actually find the small size more comfortable for my wrists than my laptop, an Acer Chromebook. I couldn't be happier that I decided to replace the computer slot in my life with a tablet and this keyboard, very sleek and efficient. I will so, I don't think the top of this, some kind of adhered on texture that it supposed to make the top look more like a fabric case than the hard shell of a computer, is tasteful at all. Would have much preferred plain plastic. 5There are some improvements that would rank this higher First, within a week, the stand has broken. I use my tablet for email and note taking so the stand is a critical item for me. Next is the covering - out of the box it was stretched and wrinkled. Last criticism is that a 7" tablet (like mine) slips and slide all over, and never really locks in as it should. The stand is an item I haven't fixed, yet. The covering I am ill equipped to fix. The size issue was easy to solve, I just put some filler on the movable part of the holding device and that is fixed. Just because I am very cautious about "stuff", I added some stickey backed velcro to the tablet and the keyboard. Now, my tablet is secure. None of these issues are dealbreakers, yet consumers should not need to deall with them. Nothing here that would add much if anything to the manufacturing process. I had previously purchased a keybaord from a place in Englnad, ONX-3 is the company name. They are very customer servicee oriented, but after several tries even they gave up. What I lked about that keyboard is the covering - it is a faux leather, stiched around the perimeter. Very comfortable with which to work, and doesn't have a tendancy to slide around the slick tables found in my home and many eateries.Marv 4Turns a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet into the mini laptop that I wanted/needed! I really wanted a laptop-style case for my Dell Venue 8 Pro but did not find any so I bought a MoKo folio case with wireless BT keyboard, which I really liked. However, I saw someone using a mini iPad in a really neat laptop-like case, so I asked her about it and she told me it was a Zagg. I did a little research online, including contacted a Zagg rep via chat, and found out that Zagg doesn't make a case specifically for the DV8P but it does make an 8-inch autofit case which would fit.The Autofit case is obviously someone clunkier than a case made specifically for a device, but it's a good fit for the DV8P. It's just slightly wider than it needs to be, but it's noticeable only if you look carefully. It fits the width of the DV8P much better than it fits whatever is shown in the product photo. The DV8P fits very securely in the case lid.I wasn't happy about paying so much for a case, especially one that blocks the micro USB port, which I use for both charging and a Transcend OTG SD card reader. It's not all that inconvenient to pop the top of the DV8P out of the case for charging, but it's darned inconvenient to do so when using the card reader, especially since I tend to be riding in a moving vehicle when I'm doing that. The case and tablet are a lot more "tippy" when the tablet isn't securely in the lid. I used a variable-speed Dremel with a small cone-shaped metal bit to make an opening in the lid so that both the charging cable and the OTG reader fit snugly against the tablet. I've included photos to show that. I hate modifying things but now the DV8P can stay in the case and I don't have to fiddle with it.I really like that the keyboard manages to have decent-sized keys and most are in the usual location. On the MoKo keyboard, the apostrophe key was at the bottom of the keyboard and I use it a lot so touch typing on that keyboard was a little challenging at times. I'm accustomed to weird keyboard layouts and smaller-than-normal keyboards (and I have large hands and long fingers) so it wasn't a huge deal, but it did disrupt the flow of typing. On this keyboard, the apostrophe is in the correct location. Granted, the semicolon, apostrophe, and ENTER keys are small, but they are where you expect them to be. The keyboard has a decent feel, although it requires a little more typing pressure than I personally prefer. I find myself not hitting the first letter of a word hard enough sometimes. However, I think I will adjust. When using this in my lap in a moving truck on a bumpy road, I find it to be pretty stable. I haven't had any problems with it tipping. I'm surprised at how sturdy it feels. The hinge is not as stiff when you are first opening the case as it is once you get the case open an inch or so, but that's probably because you need to be able to get the thing open pretty easily to begin with, then need resistance once it's open a little way so that it will stay in your preferred position.I have had to re-pair the keyboard with the tablet once, and I'm not sure why, but it was easy enough to do. Hope that was just an unusual event.I have only had the case for a week at this point so I can't comment on anything long term. I really love being able to use my 8" tablet as a mini laptop, which was why I got it in the first place. I squeeze it into an Evecase 7.85 ~ 8.4 inch Tablet Ultra-Portable Neoprene Zipper Carrying Sleeve Case Bag with Accessory Pocket, although I'm beginning to think that what I received was the 7" version. Will know for sure when I get another one that I ordered.I would have rated this 5 stars if it hadn't been so pricey and if I hadn't had to modify it because it blocked the micro USB port. I also would have preferred a case specifically for my device but this one works nicely. 4This was a great purchase for me This was a great purchase for me. I wanted a bluetooth keyboard for my 7-inch Acer tablet. However, I did not want to pay as much or more for the keyboard than I had for the tablet, but I wanted something reliable. This Zagg Folio Keyboard Case turned out to be a good choice. My tablet fiis easily and securely in the case. The bluetooth keyboard pairs easily with my tablet. The keys are pretty easy to type with. They are small, but so is a 7-inch tablet. The keyboard makes certain tasks so much easier and faster than typing on the touch-screen. The case is durable, compact, easy to use, and the price was right. There was only one problem. Since this particular Zagg Folio Case was a generic 7- inch case, the opening near the "on/off" button for my tablet was partially covered. Luckily, another reviewer shared his resolution for a similar problem. He used a Dremel to make a slight modification to the opening in question. I did the same. Problem resolved. I have been using this keyboard/case for a little over a month with no other issues. 5
