    GREAT LITTLE TIMER - SIMPLE and SOLID What you see is what you get. A great timer with two grounded outlets. I've had one for two years that I use for outdoor lighting and it has never failed. The one thing to note is that it comes with no instructions and all the pins are down, which is the ON position. The first thing to do is to pull UP all the pins, then press down the ones for the time that you want the power to be on. Turn the dial to match the time of day with the pointer and plug it in! The slide switch has two settings, a small clock that indicates the timer is in control, or an "I" that indicates the always on.The short cord works perfect for my outdoor needs as I don't have to mount the box because it hangs vertically under the waterproof outlet box, so it is well protected. 5Difficult to set The on/off pins are very difficult to pull up to the on position. If you need to change the on /off settings frequently you will be sorry you bought it. Also the pins in the back are too close to the frame to reach, so you have to pull the time dial around to get at them. Others have stated that it does not keep time so you must reset the time frequently. If that's the case with mine, I'll send it back.I have another type in the house and it keeps accurate time. 1Easy Usage - not so great for mounting. Love the programmability on this. No crazy digital voodoo required. Lift up all the outer rim "buttons" and then push down the ones where you want the equipment to kick on. I'm using ours for our pool pump as our prior one almost required me to go out daily and kick it on (usually about bed time) - and it was forgotten more often than not. This one keeps time as long as the power is on - and how often does your power REALLY go out and cause an issue?? It's a joy watching the pump kick on for about 30 minutes every 3 hours to keep things tidied up - but doing the heavy filtering overnight while power usage is low. Great knowing that the pool is not going to end up green because I forgot to run out there and kick the thing on manually - or leave it running all day and incur the wrath of "Power-Nazi Wife" when she notices it still running...Only complaint is the cord IS pretty short - like maybe a foot long. Is it a show stopper? No, but doesn't make for very convenient mounting when plugged into a normal height power outlet - it's going to be about knee height :( Does have two mounting holes in back though, so should be solid when mounted. 4This unit seems to well built and able to handle ... This unit seems to well built and able to handle a fair amount of current. It has two three prong plug outlets which make it much more flexible than my other units. So why not a higher rating?The way one sets the timer. It is a counter intuitive design that works the opposite of every other timer I've ever used. Most timers you set the on and off by moving or raising one notch for each. On some you raise all those that represent the time you want the unit to turn on and off. On this one, you do nothing with the setting area you want the timer to be on. Instead you raise the areas you want the timer off.It's the only timer in the past 30 years where I had to read the instructions to get it to work. Non intuitive. Three stars. 3CHRISTMAS LIGHTS Very easy and excellent product to use. I have it outside to control our Christmas lights for the holidays. It is a very nice color blends in with the outside foliage. It has two ports so that you may plug-in two devices. I prefer this type of timer which you have to push the pins down compared to the one with a sensor. The ones with the sensor sometimes has false readings from outside lighting or other sources. We live in South Florida or rains a lot. So far, the device works perfectly outside. 5It worked for us I was very hesitant to buy timers online but after waiting until the holiday crunch and finding nothing suitable in the stores, I had no other choice. I read a lot of reviews about a lot of outdoor timers before choosing this one even though some reviewers liked it and others didn't. I just crossed my fingers and hoped I would be one of the buyers with a positive experience. I made my selection based on this timer's price, because it had two outlets for plugs and it had a cover over the timer. We used the timer outside, at the edge of a covered porch to light up holiday decorations. The timer's location pretty much ensured that it was exposed to the winter weather and got a "bonus" of being rained and snowed on. It was a cold winter and the timer worked without a problem. Although I chose the timer my spouse got stuck figuring out how so set it--for us it wasn't straightforward, but if we were totally honest, the problem would have been user inexperience rather than timer design. The timer probably won't get used again until next winter, so I can't comment on durability. I would be quite disappointed if all I got for the price was one winter, but you never know with timers. For the time being it worked well. 4RECEIVE TWO, NEITHER ONE WORKS This is the second one of these I have received from Amazon. Right out of the box the timer on the first one ran several hours fast every day. Amazon replaced it with another one but the timer on the second one stopped keeping time within a few weeks and now Amazon won't allow me to return the second defective one because the "return window" date started with the purchase date of the first defective product.. 1Does Not keep the correct time, loses and hour ... Does Not keep the correct time, loses and hour every 6 hours. I called company and was told I was using it to operate higher horsepower than was designed. I used it to turn on/off my 15 gallon fountain which originally and indoor timer was used. I went back to using indoor timer. 1Great value, analogue function means no need for digital programming. I just set up my Halloween lighted decor using this timer. It's very simple and easy to use, no digital programming to remember or struggle to see. There are pins surrounding the circle representing 24 hours. Each pin is 30 minutes. If the pin is up, there is no power (the circuit is open). If the pin is down, the circuit is closed and there is power. Since it plugs in, no batteries are needed to keep time. The hinged door is also nice for outdoor use to keep it dry. I'm using it for decor that I want to come on at 5:00 and turn off at 10:00. However with this pin up or down design you could have things on and off as much as you want throughout the day. You could even potentially have something run for 30 minutes out of each hour of the day. Great value here. 4it works..sort of well it works.... it turns stuff on and off, the pins work. however the timer work slower than regular clocks and constantly loses time; so it doesn't do its job of turning on/off at specified time and intervals (intervals always longer due to slowing timer). also a lesser problem pins represent approximate on /off times, the timer will turn on/off at the approximate time indicated on the dial. in order to get the timer to turn on/off at approximate time intervals that match my needs i have to reset the timer every morning. 2
