Customer Reviews

Definitely worth $20 I ordered a set of these shortly after recieveing my V-Moda Crossfade headphones. I was very impressed with the quality build of the headphones which set my expectations for the XL Cushions very high. It's a solid upgrade from the original cushions that came with the headphones but ultimately this is what I found. The fit is much more comfortable with these XL Cushions. Yes, they could definitely still be bigger for sure but for $20 it's no big deal.I would have given 5 stars but I was expecting the cushions to be a little better than they are. They work well and are comfortable but I guess I was expecting them to feel like other cushions I have had in the past that were super soft and seemed like they had some kinda memory foam in them. These aren't quite like that. But again they work well!I would definitely recommend these. I was wearing the headphones for +6hrs with the original cushions and it was alright. Minor soreness around the tips of my ears. That's basically a thing of the past now though.I would buy these again if something happened to the set I have now if that says anything. 4Superb comfort, improved soundstage, made great headphones even better.Super easy installation for the Crossfade Wireless (with the earcup facing up, with the bottom corner facing you, simply grab the top corner and pull it up DIAGONALLY (at a 45 degree angle) toward you. Thumb on the outside, two fingers on the inside, that's it. New one clicks into place, just click the sides before you click down the top corners.Comfort is something that is subjective - but I immediately found these new pads WAY more comfortable than the stock. There is more room inside for your ears. If your ears were touching the driver with the stock pads like mine do not hesitate to buy these - you'll notice a sound improvement as well (in terms of soundstage). My only complaint, like many others here is that these did not come with the Crossfade Wireless originally. Now that my ears don't rest against the driver these headphones are less fatiguing to wear for extended periods, even with glasses.5Well worth the $20 for anyone with large ears or glasses.I purchased these at the same time when buying the V-MODA M-100's without even reading the reviews because I wear glasses and I have larger ears, knowing this, I liked what I read about the larger circumference as well as the deeper depth. I can say that it was a smart purchase. Just like everyone else that's reviewing this product, it really does give you that extra space inside the headset increasing comfort and like others said that wear glasses, this is almost a must.Sure you can say that they should have included the better cushions with the headset however some people don't like the thick feeling, and the thinner cushions aren't BAD, they just don't feel as good as the thicker ones, per my opinion.Below are some pictures comparing the size against the originals. But for $20, I feel it's well worth it. FYI, the grey pads are the ones that came with the headset and the black ones are the XL's.5Recommended for Crossfade LPsI definitely recommend these to anyone who went from a pair of DJ-style headphones with large ear pads to the Crossfade LPs or M100s.The extra space inside them for the sound to spread out gives them that feeling that my old headphones had, not to mention it makes them 10 times more comfortable, and it prevents them from rubbing up against my big ol' ears :SI wear my Crossfade LPs a LOT and honestly, I should have bought these cushions when I bought the headphones... and I'm really questioning why I didn't at this point. Not sure if I can say I like the price for these... but if you had any problem with the way the old ear pads felt on your head, it's worth it.It took me maybe 5 minutes to take the old ones out and put these in (including time spent watching the V-Moda video that tells you how to do so), so it's not exactly complicated, but they went in securely, and I seriously doubt they'll fall out or anything in a lifetime or two.Overall, I'd say they were worth the price.BARELY... but still worth it.-If they fall apart in a month, I'll update my review accordingly.-*Update* 10/7/2014 - Still haven't fallen apart. They are very well broken-in, but still holding up nicely. No issues to report.-If they fall apart in a year... still gonna update my review accordingly.-*Update* 9/28/2015 - They have begun to peel slightly on one of the cups, but they aren't dissolving or anything like my old headphones' pads did. They are likely peeling due to the way I tend to "drag" them off my head. Also, they tend to absorb a lot of sweat, since they have a foam material inside, and are difficult or impossible for me to clean, but that's pretty much true with any cushions, I suppose.Keeping in mind I wear these for at least 5-6 hours a day, every day... they've been doing quite well, and I'd be willing to buy more if they begin to fall apart in the next few months.*Update* 8/9/2016 - Finally had to replace them as of ~5 weeks ago (and forgot to take pictures). Peeling and sweat-absorbing was too much for me, but after 2 years of wearing the things almost non-stop, I didn't expect them to last as long as they did. I wish they were SLIGHTLY thicker material, so they wouldn't begin peeling as easily/quickly, but otherwise, they held up great. The little leather on the top band of the headphones has begun peeling, so it's of about the same quality.Bottom Line: Expect ~2 years of heavy use out of these cushions, assuming you sweat quite a lot (wearing them while exercising is a bad idea).I ordered another set. Got the grey ones, this time. Hopefully they hold up just as well, but if they don't, I'll update accordingly.*Update* 7/2/2017 - The grey ones are still going strong after right around a year, and don't show signs of peeling or anything yet, so I think I can safely assume they'll last me just about as long as the last ones, at least. As the "Bottom Line" (which is... now above me, and no longer the "bottom" line) says, It's not unreasonable to expect ~2 years of life out of these, at least under the abused conditions mine tend to be kept in.Though I must admit, I've never cut or torn the pads before, so I'm not sure how much that would shorten the life if that occurs, since sweat and moisture in general would get in the foam and probably make it die faster. Just a thought/heads-up.4Unexpected changesThese are so much more comfortable than the stock ear cups. I wouldn t use my headphones much because the stoc war cups hurt my ears, these ones no problem. Installation is a breeze, there s many videos to assist in this on YouTube as well (no instructions included with product).Minimal bulk is added. However I did notice some unexpected changes just by unboxing these from the stock pair.- The leather is of different material. The original feels much smoother and softer while the XL feels a tad grainy/corser. This could be an effect of wear and usage.- The foam is dramatically different between the two. The original is more like memory foam and holds its shape for a short while when pressed in. The foam is also a whiteish yellow with small tight air pockets. The XL version however is more like a pool noodle stile foam. The foam is blue with larger and more spread out air pockets (in comparison to the original)With that I believe I will still be using the XL on my headphones as they have more room to compensate for my ears, which was my reason for buying them.4Great and cheap upgrade, and easy to install They made a significant difference to sound and makes my Crossfade Wireless WAY more comfortable. Might as well get the official VMODA pads, no point in getting the ones $5 cheaper and not getting a warranty or anything with them.To remove your old pads, stuff your fingers inside the pad, your palm pressing against the outside, then curl your hand forward with a rapid motion. It takes a bit of force but they just pop off. Line these up where the flat inside corner is facing down, and just press the edges of it with your fingernails till it snaps in. Easy peasy. 5Must have If you have M100's, BUY THESE. Better Sound quality, more comfortable fit, easy installThese, OMG these.... These memory cushions for the V-MODA cans are perfect. I have the M100's and after reading a few reviews decided to purchase these after-the-fact (wish i would have purchased them with the headphones). The M100's are great but after extended use (several hours) they do start to get a bit annoying. These cleared that problem right up, they are super soft, not as large as you'd think so they don't look ridiculous wearing them (when i read XL that's what i thought would happen) and they even change the sound, for the better, of the M100's. In addition they are extremely easy to install. Literally so easy i thought i did it wrong so i looked up a youtube video and found out it was literally just pop the old ones out and snap the new ones in, just line up the cushions and make sure the "Flat-part" (on the back of the cushions) is on the bottom and snap around like a tupper-ware container.5not "memory" foamThis product has never ever seen "memory" foam.........It is bog standard white open cavity foam... nothing special.. certainly not for a price of $20USDThere are other issues with both the Vmoda cushions & headphones.....since the fit to your skin is basically "air tight" (you might think it is good.. but it's not)1. Any sweat or oil is trapped into the speaker diaphragm2. since it is "airtight" there is not sufficient air "equalization" between inner & outer Speaker areas. This causes the plastic speaker diaphragm to be damaged with the air pressure collapsing & creasing the speaker dome..after a while when the phones move about... you can hear the cone "clicking" with the vacuum or pressure waves damaging the speaker diaphragmslater this speaker damage casuese a "buzzing" mechanical sound on bass notes... as the speaker dome is damaged and the coil winding rub against the internal speaker magnets....This company seems to know very little about actually manufacturing headphones other than how to make them mechanically robust or "look" good.3Needs to be thicker with larger interior holeMakes my Crossfade M100 slightly more comfortable. The biggest issue is still interior diameter. I can bear about 1-2hrs now and I recommend this as a must for allow V-Moda owners. It does improve sound and my ear no longer touches the driver. It s a two-knuckle interior width. So I have to consciously stuff my ear lobes in lest the headphones become an on-ear affair. The isolation is better than my M50 with Brainwavz XL hybrid pads, but this is still my most uncomfortable pair of headphones.3I bought the M100s and fell in love with the way they soundedThese are a complete must-have for the V-MODA M100 headphones. I bought the M100s and fell in love with the way they sounded, but they were uncomfortable and the ear pads were small. These are the perfect size, sound quality is the same as before. I highly recommend these for anyone that has the M100 headphones. I've attached photos of the original pads vs the new pads.5Makes the M100s SO MUCH BETTER!Easily the best purchase I've made in 2018. I use my V-MODA M100 headphones all the time. I use them on my phone and on my computer. I'm always wearing them. I found that my head/ears would hurt because of the pressure from the stock headphone cushions. Looked online for reviews and found people saying that these are worth the investment. My God I wish I bought these sooner. They eliminated the issue I had with the M100. They are so comfortable. If I could offer one piece of advice to V-MODA, it would be this. Include how to install the cushions in the box it comes with. I had to look up a review on YouTube. It really wasn't difficult to install, but it was confusing of why this wouldn't be included in the box, or at the very least a QR code on the box leading to a quick instructional video on how to uninstall the stock cushions and install these.P.S. Do not watch the video on YouTube where the guy uses a screwdriver to uninstall the stock cushions. You just need to grip the inside of the cushion and the outer part and pull the tabs from the locked position. You don't want to risk breaking your headphones by using a screwdriver.5... these made my M-100s an overall better and more comfortable set of headphonesI've used these for about a month and I can definitely say without a doubt that these made my M-100s an overall better and more comfortable set of headphones. I'd hate to have to go back to those super thin stock pads that came with it and these were worth every penny. Easy to install, thick enough that my ears don't touch the speaker mesh, they look great, and I've yet to feel the need to take my M-100s off because they became uncomfortable. I've wore these almost all day a few times and they remained as comfortable at the end of the day as when I first put them on.IMO, if you're buying a pair of V-MODA headphones, these are a requirement. It's disappointing that these don't come stock though, especially with a set of headphones as expensive as the M-100s and M-100 Wireless. I got my M-100s on sale for $163 though, so even with the pads both of them together still came to less than the normal M-100 retail price of ~$200 so it wasn't too big of a deal to have to buy them.Overall, I'd absolutely recommend them. If you plan on wearing your earphones for more than an hour then I'd say they're necessary.5Makes huge improvement on comfort and sound. I can now wear my M100s for hours without feeling any discomfort. These are super comfy and the sound is much better. Bigger sound stage & more bass feeling. 5
