Customer Reviews

Beats everything, hands down BY GOD, $10 for this thing. WELL WORTH IT. Just bought a LG 29UM57 for my setup. Lovely monitor but needed to be mounted. It doesn't get much easier than this. Looks amazing and works perfectly as a middle monitor mount for a triple setup. 5**WARNING** problem with the instructions **WARNING**If attaching to a drywall partition with wood studs, the instructions tell you to use a 7/32" drill to predrill for the mounting screws. If you do, congratulations, you now have a useless hole in your wall. The included screws won't bite because the hole is too big. You either have to go to the store and buy bigger screws, or put another hole in your wall. And don't believe the bit about tightening the tilt/rotate mechanism bolt with the "spanner" tool included, (wrench), once you get it on the wall. There is no room to get your wrench around the bolt because of the bracket arms being too close. You'll either need a ratcheting box end wrench set, or you'll have to take it back down to tighten. If you avoid these pitfalls, it's not that bad a product. I would normally be paranoid and double check these things before installing, but I got lazy and paid the price. 2Very handy for installing the 32" lcd I ordered it for in an odd location! I got this for a weird 45* angled wall for my daughters room.I though it would swivel better to enable comfier viewing for her from her bed.I solved the problem of it bumping the tilt knob by cutting a 45* slice from the metal edge closer to her bed allowing it to swing as I'd hoped, I should have removed the tv before doing that to keep from cutting the cable I'd phished up off at the wall. It works now as I'd hoped it would! 4For $12 it works better then expected I deviated from the directions and installed everything separately, including taking out the bolt holding the wall piece together so I had better access to the screw holes. The instructions also call for a 7/32 drill bit. I used a 3/16 since I didn't have a 7/32 on hand. Worked great. After checking reviews it looks like the 7/32 would have caused the fasteners to fall out so bullet dodged. The product itself stays in the wall and holds the monitor steady. It tilts but is lose so doesn't stay up. Monitor does go side by side. The tilt issue is probably on my end. Might have a washer put back in the wrong place. Dunno, doesn't bother me.One thing I will note is the two fasteners that hold this to the wall do not get tight enough to stay stable. And by that I mean if you use a leveler and make sure it's balanced it will shift slightly to one side or the other. It's also not flush against the wall and one side seems to stick out. Not sure if that's by design or my unit was damaged.Thankfully, you can still straighten the monitor out by hand. It usually holds, but sometimes you need to adjust. 4Good mount The mount itself is very nice, has good adjustment angles, and is solid. I'm using a 32" TV on it (don't know the weight). Some notes on installation: If you haven't done it before, be careful. If you're a little off with marking the holes and drilling and driving the bolts, the mount will sit crooked or be unstable. I had to re-drill a few holes (luckily I wasn't wall-mounting, my desk has posts I mounted this on) in order to get it straight. Use a level if you have one. Also, the included lag bolts are TERRIBLE. I read this on another review, but I figured it may have just been user error or something - I had the same issues. Two of the bolts stripped out as I was driving them into pre-drilled holes, and I had to remove them with pliers (luckily, they have a hex head so you could use a socket wrench or something if you have one) and then make a trip to the hardware store to get better bolts. My advice: skip trying to use the included bolts, take one of them to the hardware store and get 3 matching bolts of higher quality before you start the install. 5READ HERE BEFORE INSTALLATION! READ HERE BEFORE INSTALLATION!! Overall it is a great product and a good value, but there is an error in the installation instructions which seems to have caused a number of problems for people, including me!The instructions call for using a 7/32" drill for pilot holes into the stud, which is just large enough that the included fasteners WILL NOT work and pull out from the wall. I learned the hard way and had to purchase larger diameter fasteners to use the wholes drilled with the 7/32" bit.Instead, use a 3/16" or 5/32" drill bit to ensure you can use the included fasteners. In the attached photos, you can see that the 7/32" bit when held in front of the fasteners is just too large -- you should be able to see most/all of the threads but you can't. The other photos shows the smaller bits, incorrect installation instructions, and final installation photo! 3Physically impossible to assemble. Whoever designed this TV mount should have their design license taken away. According to the instructions, you are supposed to attach it to the television before you hang it on the wall. The instructions even show how the wall mounting bracket has those little oversized holes so you can slip it onto the bolts that you've already installed in your wall. The problem? The actual bracket only has the oversized holes on the TOP - the hole on the bottom doesn't have that feature so it must be screwed into the wall after the bracket is already up there. That is physically impossible, however, because the bracket (and the television) block access to that bottom hole. The workaround that I ended up using was to disassemble the entire wall mount bracket into its individual parts, and then I attached the TV side to the TV, and the wall side to the wall, then cursed and screamed while I tried to connect them together while holding the television out in front of me.Needless to say, it's installed. But the adjusting knob won't tighten all the way (the bolt it is connected to just spins inside the knob), so I suspect I will be taking the entire thing down again at some point to attempt to tighten that up.I'm looking forward to it. Should be a ton of fun. 1Decent wall mount, installation a nightmare... Let me start this off by saying that I'm mechanically inclined and I've installed over a dozen TV wall mounts, several dartboards, a ton of curtain rods, towel racks, and countless floating shelves. That being said I've never in my life had as much trouble as I did with two VideoSecu tv/monitor wall mounts. The plan was to mount two computer monitors (19 and 21 inch) to the wall above my desk. The mounts themselves seem to be of decent quality and thick gauge steel. The tilt action is pretty tight, so I figured the monitors would stay in place. It only took a couple of minutes to install the backplates on the monitors. This product doesn't come with any spacers, so make sure you either have the right size screws or your own spacers. The next step was to drill holes in the drywall and install the drywall anchors. The anchors are extremely cheap. There is not a lip going around the outer edge, so when I very gently and slow installed the screws the anchors slid right in. This happened with all of the anchors. I partially blame myself only because I knew I shouldn't have used the anchors that came with it. I ended up having to go buy much better drywall anchors that would fit in the enlarged holes already in my wall. I was planning on spending about an hour to install two monitors and clean things up. Including going to the store it took closer to four hours. Considering it took me less than an hour to mount a 47" TV and install a glass floating shelf earlier in the day I was not very happy with my purchase. 2Works, but poorly designed. Came with cheap screws. The phillips heads appeared stripped out, and one was bent. Had to go to the hardware store and pick up some replacement screws for 50 cents. The screws I purchased were slightly too big, and I ended up having to ream out the holes in the bracket with my drill. This was totally my fault, but I shouldn't have had to buy different screws in the first place. Since this thing sits so close to the wall, making adjustments to the tilt and swivel once the TV is hung is impossible. I had to make all adjustments with the TV off, and kept hooking it on the wall bracket to see how it hung until I got it where I wanted it. Since the VESA mount hooks on the wall mount, and then is secured with screws, it made life incredibly difficult because there was simply no room to get behind the TV and secure those screws once the TV is hooked on. After much difficulty and frustration, I managed to get one of the securing screws in. I gave up on the second one, because I could not get in a position to get it started, especially with the poor threads on the tapped holes. One seems to secure it just fine, and prevent it from unhooking. For $10, I wasn't expecting much, but this really is a poor thought out products, and it came with unusable hardware. Giving it 3 stars, because after all is said, it works. 3Okay mount, Great price. It's okay for what it is. A dirt cheap mount that will hold a TV. Bought it to mount a small (24") tv in my basement to use as I work out, and it does that job well. That being said, the design is pretty awkward to get it onto the wall. Bolts need to be removed to actually adjust the swivel, as it swivelled far too much, pulling the tv down at an angle whenever I walked near it. Once I tightened that bolt, it stays how I placed it pretty well. Also, just throw away the screws that came with it, go to the hardware store and purchase some decent ones. When actually attatching the mount to the TV, one of the supplied screws actually had the head snap off as I tightened it. Wasn't over tightening it at all or anything. It wasn't even completely in. Had to use pliers to remove it from the TV. Defintely use different ones or ones that actually come with the TV.Though for the price of the unit, can't really go wrong as once it's all on the wall and adjusted it works just as it should. If I had to mount another small, cheap TV, I'd probably get another. 3
